How many of you have won the ML on Extreme?

I don't think it makes much difference which team you are.
Besides the option of buying that clubs players back.
You just don't get too excited with seeing your kits all the time unless you make a new one each season!

Extreme level doesn't need to be unlocked.
You just have to start the ML that way.
Next to hard.

The Konami-Umbro cup is one to the left under the Cup options.

Does anyone else find that in extreme mode, once you get into div 1, the oppositions' strikers are ALOT more accurate and that refs in extreme mode are harsher?...

...or perhaps i am just paranoid, you conspiring satanists!

Although there is a lot of cheating by the CPU, you can learn how to handle it.

It's much worse in Div 3 due to the crap players they give you.
Once in Div 1 it seems quite easy.

I have just started an Extreme game, and just as I was getting into it, I lent my PES2 out. Very clever, I know.

I'm getting it back on Saturday, so it'll have to wait until then. I started as Bayern Munich, because I like their home kit. :D

Fiorentina annoy me though, because Adriano is bloody good. And Huygens has always been better than Baroja. :D The thing that annoys me about the base ML players, is that as well as being unable to hit a barn door from 10 yards out with a guide-tunnel in between, and a really big vaccuum behind the barn door, they have no pace at all.

And Vorlander is better than Stromer.

My default Starting XI:

Kelsen (not Ivanov)

Valery, Daric, Vorlander

Espinas, Cellini, Miranda, Harty, Ximenes

Castello, Huygens

Mine is (4-4-2):

Kelsen

Eddington - Vorlander - Stromer - Valery

Cellini

Espinas - Miranda - Ximenes

Baroja - Castello

or my (3-5-2)

Daric - Vorlander - Stromer

Iorga - Cellin

Espinas - Miranda - Ximenes

Miranda

Baroja - Castello

Edit: It came out all wrong first time!

Miranda is put ahead of the two wingers as an omf

what i do is pick my home national team, and try to win all the cups first then go for the league.always picking random teams in the groups and league.whichever team you lose against is the team you have lead to glory next and so on.can be frustrating at times.you cannot alter team tactics or formation and use no subs unless it goes to extra time.anybody else tried this?

I think you're mistaken, the team stats (like the national team stats) come from something and they are automatically brought into the game with the team. IMHO

Ive had considerable dificulty moving from d3 to d2 with the sucky teams, while i can go d3 to d2 easily with the better teams!

Is this wrong?

Yes exactly, so if Hamburg (for example) has bad Attack skills, your attackers will automatically play accordingly to that stat.

Just like your defense will be a lot better if you take for example Juve.

At least thats what ive concluded, why else include the stat?

No, the stats that are there are to do with the default squads, i.e. Juventus have a good defence, so the defence bar is particularly high. It's in relation to playing friendlies etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think the stats change for your ML team, according to who you buy. The players who you buy play as well as their personal attributes dictate, but when you, for example, play a friendly with your ML team against a club, and load up your ML team, the stat bars shown are the default ones for the team. It's a shame really, because it would be a good way to measure who's team is really the best.

Then could someone explain to me why going from d3 to d2 is shite easy with the good teams and close to impossible in the first season with a crud team?

I got a British side going but yet to win ML Extreme (BEst 6th Div 1). The side is quite cheap too (i.e. avoid buying the Beckhams and Owens of this world)

GK - Given
Def - Ashley Cole, Harte, Campbell, Woodgate
Mid - Gerrard, Dyer, Joe Cole, Giggs
Att - Vassel, Heskey

Subs include - Bellamy, Hendrie, Carr, Matt Elliott, Bridges

Some of the better ones are hard to buy in Div 3 tho, so you gotta build it up

Good team there.
I am going to build a British team next time I start it again too.

I'm surprised you went with Heskey though!
To me, Shearer or Sheringham would be better than him.

Tried Sheringham out but didnt suit me, not particularly handy in the air. also Heskey falls over a lot less in the game than he does in real life

I think Teddy is a little underated.
Particularly with jumping and heading.
And passing and finishing...

I won Division 3 at the first time of asking - found that packing out the defence and playing on the break for a 1-0 works best. Can't claim all the credit for that tactic though, as Houllier's being trying to get it right for years!
Then managed to sign a few decent players, won division 2 in my 2nd season (as well as the ML Cup), and won the top division the year after.
After that I had loads of moolah in the bank and pretty much anyone I made an offer for signed without a hitch.
Haven't used any "Classic" players though, that's cheating.
