basically I've been playing FIFA from 2000-2010 and Pes every version since 2011. This is literally the only game I play consistently and I love PES to the core and cant think of dropping it ever. In previous games I usually start bossing the highest difficulty by this time but this year's version is really giving me a headache. I am struggling to win at Super star. My issues are below:
1. Defending - I had many issues here. Would concede 2-3 goals every game running like a headless chicken with aggressive and high line defence options. I switched to all-out defence and deep line and stopped pressing the ball carrier. It got better. Recently my new tactic is to press with COM only and select a deeper player to track runs instead. This is helping me cut those obnoxious chip passes through the center that the COM striker just taps in past my rushing GK. But the problem now is COM is going wide and crossing a lot more. They 1-2 around my sideback easily and get in 3-4 crosses per game of which one is surely converted no matter how well I position my CB. Even a short weak attacker sneaks in ahead of my tall strong CB at least once and scores.
2. Midfield - I think I'm good here. I hold the ball well and keep 60%+ possession easily. Also during defending make some good steals here by anticipating COM passes. So I'm happy here
3. Attack - Another problem area. Creating chances isn't easy at all. I keep a lot of the ball and pass around until a gap comes. After that I either try to 1-2 or chip pass through the center or I work it wide and cross. I think I manage both about 6 times in a game of which 3 are intercepted by COM defender and the 3 chances I get, usually 2 are saved even at point blank by the GK david de gea style. I convert about 1. And I know about finesse shot finishing.
So my scores are usually 1-1. On an average In 10 games I play 7 are 1-1 draws, I win two 1-0 and lose one 1-0. The only time I scored 2 goals I also conceded 2 and it ended 2-2.
What am I doing wrong? Wanted to see where I stand relative to you guys.
Am I supposed to defend better and keep clean sheets? Are my conversion rates poor? Or are my conversion rates okay and I just need to create more per game?
