How to Negate the Scripting?

I haven't played that many matches yet. I have noticed a bit of scripting, but up to this point it doesn't feel quite as obvious and blatant as previous games, and it's certainly not up to the standard of Fifa 15's scripting, which is the worst scripting I've seen in any football game ever.

xicpanad - I think you'd struggle to find instances on youtube that match the bullshit I've experienced playing against the CPU on Fifa legendary difficulty. I'm certainly not complaining too much. When you see your GK stand motionless as a tame header rebounds off his body, then flops onto the ball, pushing it towards the oncoming striker, then you know there's something up. Or how 90% of the CPU goals involving a powered shot, that my keeper dives towards without even outstretching his arms. I just wish I had recorded some of the extreme bullshit moments.
You should try playing a career on legendary for a few seasons, and then come back to me. :)

Hmm fair enough. I did play in World Class because I already know Legendary is full of crap. Probably same for Superstar in PES. I should mention that we must choose the most realistic dificulty level, and usually the higher level is not even close to real.

In PES it feels like it just does the scripting, in Fifa it feels like it mocks you with it.

Agreed. It's difficult to find claims of scripting in PES. Whereas FIFA fans curse it. And rightly so from what I've seen. I think the problem (as all games are coded, programmed, scripted, whatever you wanna call it) is that it needs to be disguised better. Some instances seem way too predictable.

Indeed. It's a point that I've made many times myself. The PES scripting can be easy to spot, in fairness, but it never feels out of place... if you know what I mean? It normally just involves the AI going into "God mode", rather than outrageous instances of AI buffoonery that you get in Fifa. Well.... at least I haven't noticed anything like that yet. Only time will tell. ;)

one thing about how to stop the scripting on superstar in my club.....SCRIPT THE COM!!! got demoted 3 times to top player but now i script them in at least 4/6 and on superstar for at least 30 matches now with alot of 64's to 70's rated player apart from saviola and reina ;) good luck.

that moment you realise the com keeper is on crack, and saving every 1 on 1 your having and you know its 'one of them' harder games and you go 1-0 up and then you know they're about to equalise ! well you can stop it instead of pressuring and changing curser and getting teammate to pressure fuck all that just slid tackle the fucker even if your red carded which is unlikely if you know what your doing then it stops the scripting most of the time.

That's the tactic I opt for ;) Ever had those instances though, where you can't foul them, their passing's that quick, you can't get near enough to even bring 'em down?

You really need to change your tactics in order to crowd the midfielder/defensive zone when not in possession. That way you will only get surprised in counters from CPU, wich is not unrealistic.

Fifa 15 programming is hard to figure out this year. The game is more rewarding to attacking than defense. However, if you know this you can try to compensate by not running towards the attackers, use second man pressure and contain. This helps me a lot.

I have a different interpretation of the phrase "scripting". I have seen where players actually believe that the CPU/AI comes "alive" at times and literally tries to cheat them. Scripting for me IS programming....and after a couple games you can actually see the pattern that the game uses. This is in terms of formation plans. In Fifa, it will move from their defending stance to a high pressure once they concede a goal. Just look out for the thru balls and speedy players. Stay behind them ...don't rush to get the ball ...and you will find that they make mistakes that leaves you with the ball easily...and always remember to clear the 18 at all times.

peace

Speaking of tactics, since I'm fairly new to the game I haven't really messed around with them, but is there any shortcut to change team mentality during the match? You used to be able to hold select and press R1/L1 (or whatever) to tell your team to go more offensive or defensive.

Sometimes I feel as if it's saying "oh, you've worked hard to go 2 goals up in 80mins.... here's 3 bullshit CPU goals to make up for that. Deal with it  "

For the tactics...the Dpad. Use it during the game to change your attacking and defending stance. There are also custom tactics that can be saved and assigned to the dpad also.

Some of the goals conceded in Fifa 15 are just unbelievable and cannot be saved. If you are not playing these games at least twice a week for at least an hour at a time.......the game leaves you. It will feel like learning it all over again.

The programming of Fifa and PES remains to be poor ...but players have always found a way to manipulate it to their own advantage.e.g over-the- head thru balls, speed demons, finesse shot.

Play for fun ...laugh at the silly goals, thats how I see it. It just a game.

peace.

PS ...you can Google the tactics settings and setup on YouTube. It should help.

Peace

And yes, I do laugh at the silly goals. It's more of a frustrated "what the fuck, why does this shit always happen to me?" laugh, but it's still a laugh. ;)

Well....at least you know now that it is not just you who is having these experiences.

There are many ":realmad:WTFs" being screamed in households across the world dude. Fifa and PES can be very stressful.

The "scripting part" actually was pre-programmed in every aspects of game mechanics. It is in every fiber of the game at any given minute of the game.

1/ The ball physics, collision, trajectory, player momentum does not only follow the rule of real world physics as a simulation. That rule can be changed almost always to obey another ultimate law of the game:

The Ultimate Rule Of Punishing The Player:

Handicap and disadvantage the players so that he always has to on his toes to a masochistic level. The game finds pleasure in frustrating the player, be it obnoxious, annoying, incessant pressure from computer AI
or the unexplainable behaviour of your AI team mates.

This is the first football game in which the ball has its own AI programmed to play favorite the whole match either in impossibly STUBBORNLY REPEATEDLY bouncing back to an opponent feet regardless of your skill of tackling or persistently magnetized to an invincible god-like opponent feet.

The ball physics and behavior is also synchronized with opponent position to dispossess the player or to take control away from him. Your first touch suddenly becomes impossibly bad for no reason at all ( even after receive a well-placed and soft pass) which resulted in the ball drifting impossibly away from You or bouncing uncontrollably whenever there was a convenient opponent nearby.

There is a universal law of ball behavior in this game: drifting ball, deflected ball. bounced off ball, loosed ball will always be directed to/locked on to opponent running path.

In long passes, the ball running speed will suddenly slow down or speed up in perfect timing to be intercepted by your opponent regardless of your timing, strength of pass and intention, your passing skill does not factor. You find yourself asking the ball a lot of questions about the way it disobeyed You.

This is the game of the perfect invisible grid in which the ball and your opponent are mutually locked into each other at all time, while You were trying to run between them in vain like a headless chicken on a pre-determined rail. Do You have any chance at all?

2/ To further this masochistic and malicious ruse, the player input is severely interfered with to his disadvantage. Player never has real control to his avatars in the game. They are programmed to disobeyed the controls.

There is always delay, dazed, running away from the ball after a tackle. The cursor switched suddenly to another player at the most crucial moment for no apparent reason when it needs to focus on your controlled player the most.

3/ Pre-determined lock-in mechanics event , in which player has no input in anything:

Your player always keep delayed by being obstructed by the body of a falling opponent after your successful timing tackle.

After a successful tackle, instead of continuing running towards the loose ball, your player is dazed, confused, the cursor suddenly taken off him.

There is always a perceivable pre-programmed distance between your defenders and the opponent strikers with perfect timing so as he can always have plenty of time to evade your tackling as you approached him.
In these impossible and desperate moments, the sliding tackle will certainly earn you an instant yellow card.

Your player always run on rail slowly along side the opponent striker, then neatly tucked in behind him like ducklings follow their mother, regardless of your bust-a-gut running direction changing effort and speed.

The game is full of such annoying unjustifiable locked-in-place micro-events like that, it is so easy to see the scripting and handicapping.

Sometimes playing the game makes me feel like I just watching a GIF Animation played over and over again at numerous predetermined moments.

In fact, the game is nothing but a series of gif animations to create a hallucination that You are in control, but the gif animation will never change.

Agreed with all your points. But we all have to understand that all games are "scripted" or programmed to the best of the developers ability.
PES and Fifa are both two of the most complex games to design. I do not have to point out all the complex situations that each developer faces to get the game as close to a sim as possible. Both games have shown that they can only replicate the real to life actions with limitations.

The programming limitations are basically some of the things you have highlighted.

In short, there are only two studios that have chosen to stick with footie games ....and there is a reason behind that. 22 players in constant gameplay does not pen out to be an easy design. Therefore other developers have stayed clear.

Konami has shown how lazy they are in terms of design and programming (IMO) and EA has shown complacency.
Outside of that ....I do not think footie game are going to improve much over what it offers todate.

peace.

I totally understand and respect your point of view.

It is a monumental task of replicating such complex and multi-faceted aspects of professional football both technically and artistically.

I do admire the efforts of the developers in creating such simulation in the most detailed canvas and fabrics of the game as much as possible.

I just wish they could tone down the blatant unfair disadvantage the player has to endure when playing this game (even if by doing that, the game may lose its appeal by being too easy to play or lack of challenging factor).

I am willing to trade the exciting part of this artificial unpredictability of the game for the fair, realistic play and an impartial faithful canvas of pure football simulation without exaggeration of artificial handicap, on-rail situations and pre-made outcomes.

If the studios or developers had people with your thinking and vision, we would delighted.

Konami and EA's developers conference room meetings discusses nothing that relates to the end users ...(fans).

Innovative ideas in those meetings lean towards marketing and creating smoke screens for the fans.

On the other hand, we keep buying the games. So in their mind, they are doing a great job.

Well, for pes 2015, the traditional scripting and unstoppable AI is still out there, fortunately not as bad as in pes 2012, but annoying and disappointing as hell.

I cant believe I still play pes series after last year's big pile of shit pes 2014, this is sad, no matter what pes 2015 offers I must play this footie
game for fun and entertainment, luckyly pes 2015 is better than pes 2014 but not by much, because pes 2014 is so shitty actually it is the worst pes game ever played, pes 2015 has to be better.

After having immense troubles with defense, I decide to be patient and learn how to make use of tactics and sliders to concede less goals. I want to play the game better and score more goals on super star, but it is going to be hard.

I already played a few games on superstar, the AI team is pretty tough.
But I will give this game some time and try to win more games.

good luck to you all and your games.

Hi Gents,

After looking at the comments and playing the game I believe the problem is more from the fact that the AI or CPU can manipulate the stats of every player on the field dependant of the difficulty you are playing it on.
That's why you get slow players catching fast players, passes not reaching or being directed to their marks and cpu players going on unstoppable runs.
I believe these are by design as the developers seems to in my opinion just tried to capitalise on the fact fifa has been on a down turn.
Now don't get me wrong I dislike fifa something chronic but the pes developers have my no stretch of the imagination made a better game just a game with a different set of problems which I will list below.
1 It looks terrible and they know it and did not care now I am not talking about resolution because that is a completely different discussion but the games graphics are laughable again konami knew they were and didn't care enough to put the effort in from the grass to the crowd it is all so lazy.
2 The editing suit possible the most important thing for all pes fans it the customisation which again they were too lazy to include a decent set I mean they have had the same kit customisations for like 6 years. It was simply easier to blame sony and Microsoft then come up with a decent work around.
You can create 5 outfield kits but only 1 keepers kit
YOU CANNOT EVEN PUT NUMBERS ON TEAM BANNERS WTF.

3 whilst the gameplay is an improvement it has some massive flaws the fact that holding RT makes your player stop dead is stupid as well as making all shot curl is weird.
CPU players can and will tackle you the moment you try and sprint no matter what.
stamina only affects you not the cpu.
you can take any player on by running in a circle.
Manual passing and shooting is straight up broken and does not go anywhere near where you are pointing.
Keepers still are just not good enough and let in easier shots than they save.
As you say the computer can and will lob you at every opportunity no matter who it is.
4 Commentary is bad just bad please do not bother next time.

5 master league and become a legend are both outdated lack of options and somehow konami have messed up the already defined transfer windows.
Menus are garbage you cannot interact with your players.
Training is now just a sliding bar.
It is impossible to keep your teams earnings in the green unless you win everything.
you cant invest in the club anymore for some reason.
Your scouts only recommend players that you would never buy in one million years and you cannot define what kind of player they look for.
Your youth team has barely any players from the country the team are based in.

6 it seems like most of the money for development went on getting uniteds license, the music and gotze then anything else.
