the only way to make this game harder on superstar in ML is to play manual passing and shooting.

I don't mind manual passing but manual shooting I just can't get any use out of. I just find it far too inconsistent and doesn't offer any greater freedom than Advanced, in fact I find it's even more linear!

It's the same with manual passing - particularly when I go to the goal line to cross, crossing can be silly with manual passing for many times my player will not kick the ball back diagonally to the area in and around the outside of the box but will instead chose to just kick the ball out for a goal kick, no matter how much I press the stick in the direction I want for the cross to go one direction it sometimes goes another and it just happens a little too often.

the thing with mnual passing crossing shooting is if your half a split second to late on getting your direction right then it will go straight where your running but i only misplace round about 3 or 4 passes a game , but my pass completion is up in the 70's so all in all it's good.

I found it too easy to score as the 'keepers are absolutely pathetic at times. Fully-manual (no assistance) is the only way I like to play. This was on 'Top Player'- I usually play one level below that (professional). I hate finding guaranteed ways of scoring, so this year's game was a massive disappointment for me.

Konami needs to sort out those butter-fingered goalkeepers...

Yes, but its not passing and not shooting, its the way you can beat any defender by just slowly moving towards the box with few turns there and there. You can clearly see how defender tries to win the ball, makes some effort, but he always loses when playing shoulder to shoulder. Always. And then others wont come to help, leaving even more space in the box. I could spend there most of the time if I wanted to, nobody would have taken the ball from me or tryed to fault. I dont think manual passing or shooting would fix this, it could make the overall game harder, that I agree. I really think its pretty good and sometimes I loose games and pretty badly, but now when I did found this way of scoring with and against anybody, it makes the whole thing look very weird. Actually, I dont know how to play it now and be able not to exploit this weakness. :D

In that case, its not a lot of hope that something can be done. Because I think the main interest is for PS4/Xbox One and if all is good on those platforms and the problem isint global, I doubt Konami will pay a lot of attention. They said they will add some minor gameplay fixes along with datapack, but I suppose fixing defence isint a minor fix.

Wait a minute...

I've switched to SS from TP a few days ago. Until now I've played maybe some 4/5 games in SS (Udinese not included), and while I didn't notice it being much harder, the refereeing is definitely harsher (faults are not given at an alarming rate).

Just finished my second leg against Roma for TIM Cup. I tried to do your "straight run" thingy right at the kick off. And it... "worked". Happened just like with you. I dribbled through two players using deft touches and feints, and the remaining 5/6 defenders just... gave me space. They would go back, slowly but steadily, and let me go through on goal. This never happened in TP. If I managed to get past the two initial players they would organize and it would be pretty much impossible to carry on. But this... This is not acceptable. Once again SS is worse than TP.

Also, while the keeper are far from perfect, I never encountered any bugs. Some bad approaches to the ball/players, but nothing that relevant. In this game two things happened:

1. Krul (Roma's GK) stood still, inside the 6-yard box, while I headed the ball right at his side. He just didn't move. It was after he punched the ball sky high.
2. I was approaching the penalty area from the left and he got out. I deflected to the centre and he kept on going to the left. After 1 or 2 seconds he woke up again.

I'm gonna go back to TP if this keeps on happening. Have a try with it and tell me if you keep finding the same issues. I know I didn't.

Wow, thanks for sharing your experience!! It sheds some more light on this issue and it means its more global, universal on all consoles, rather than just on old gen. Will try TP, since I never played on it, I went straight to SS.

The thing is other than this they defend better. I was on a 2-vs-1 attacking situation and didn't manage to score. It is in that very specific occasion that they go nuts.

Also, in SS the AI uses slide tackles to infinite. Good thing I play in possession, so I keep the ball moving.

Hi who

I am on PS4, will try your " dribble through trick" later on SS LV, hope it wont work, otherwise the game will be dead boring. If the trick really works, probably its time to play on TP LV, I never played on TP myself too.

Anyway, good luck to your games.

Played one more game, this time vs Milan. Right at the kick off it happened again, I had Denis Suarez with the ball and if was just a matter of running straight forward.

One thing I found it that if you try to do it after a longer attacking play it won't work as well. But if you build momentum i.e. you come from a longer run, and try to enter the defensive line, they'll allow it.

optimistic, hi :)

Good luck to your gaming as well, hope this wont ruin your experience too much. Me, myself, I wish I never discovered the gate/portal to the dark side of PES, when things can go bad wrong.

rebelinho,

Exactly. I cant say that I could exploit this straight run thing all the time and beat everyone by 10-0 only doing this. I would score like 2-3 goals in the same manner, but it wont be as easy during the entire game or longer build up game. I can update that Top Player defending feels a lot better. I tryed to do the same thing, but as soon as I got closer, there would be at least few defenders near me, trying to surround and steal the ball. I had like three defenders chasing me to the corner flag. It was a bit scary, but in a good way. This was the most I could get playing Top Player level with the same teams. Nimes from bottom of Ligue 2 against Man United:

Its clearly a lot of improvement, playing on a lower level, somehow. You can still see some traits, when players who are a lot better than theyr opponent, seem to struggle a lot and you can make these straight forwarded runs for a long distance, but at least you are not allowed to enter the box so freely. Not at all. So thats a good sign.

Hi there

I tried your dribbling trick, on SS LV, in Exihbition match, I use Chelsea to play a home game with Bayern Munchen, form arrow all red up, the trick does not work for me, CPU defenders mark me very tightly, no... I cannot
dribble through on goal, and I am unable to watch your uploaded video, so I cannot simulate your trick, maybe your dribbling is better than me, although I am glad that the trick does not work for me, so the game is still fresh and alive.

Your finding(the trick) for the CPU's defect does not ruin my gaming experience, even if the trick works for me, I still prefer to play real football video game just like in reality.Taking advantage of CPU's weakness in PES is understandable, as the game becomes extremelly hard on SS LV against top teams like Bayern. But remember to play hard and also play fair, although AI choose to cheat over gamers by scoring unstoppable goals but thats part of this game, I can live with that.

Have fun with your games.

Glad to hear you find it better.

I've officially played my last game in SS in PES2016. Against Juve (so a hard one), I tried to score as many goals as possible, and therefore I made use of this "technique". It ended 1-7, 4 of mine were just by running through the middle. Funny thing though, if you try to run like that but on the sides they'll stop you.

SS is a very good difficulty level, clearly better than TP, but this issue renders it unplayable. Also I find that opposition teams defend solely in a AOD tactic, and play mostly with long balls. Juve was an exception, but just in the last part. They (opposition) often play with 11 men behind the ball.

optimistic,

hmm, interesting. The video works fine for me. Actually I dont use any dribbling at all, I just run straight forward and use arrows to turn my player to right and left when needed. I cant achieve the same results on Top Player, because contrary to SS, defenders come to help, instead of retreating and leaving me a completely empty corridor. Dont get me wrong I love playing football as close to real thing as possible. But there is that moment, inevitably, when you come closer to the box and try to use players individual skills and then funny stuff happens. I tryed to avoid it, not exploiting it too much, but it would happen so naturally. :D

rebelinho,

Have to agree with you once more. SS feels a lot better for me, since most of the time I even have to play as no 2, trying to defend and wait for opportunities in counter-attack. Its so much more realistic when playing with weaker sides. While on TP, I always have the ball control, despite whom I would play against. Some casual opponent from second league, Man United, Barca - no difference. I`d have my possesion. But... Since SS is pretty much messed up now, there is no way I can fully enjoy it.

Saw this video today

Top Player level. It probably shows that it isint that stable either. In overall, I hope Konami will improve it at some point and sooner than PES 17 comes out. I saw lots of people tarnishing awfully bad goalkeepers and blaming them for ice-hockey or basketball results, but I doubt improved goalies will prevent scoring lots of goals. Its rather AI defence. This should be one of the main focuses for Konami. Im actually waiting for datapack that will be released on october 29, because they mentioned some gameplay improvements. Probably referees, goalkeepers, but I hope that maybe it will have some impact on defence as well. If Konami is aware of that problem at all. They seem to take twitter/facebook feedback most seriously. I think feedback from community sites with analysis, video proofs and recommendations would be much more valuable to them, but...

I can't stop laughing after watching these videos :) Simply unbelieveable yet typical Pes odd stuff. Every year we experience something crazy like this, it's just a matter of time. I was really enjoying Pes 2016 so far, but now i don't know..

who Now I can say, after playing a few dozen games in TP, that never such thing happened to me. That does look like a bug, but not a recursive one. I doubt he can make that happen again in his next game, whereas "our" running bug happens as much as you like it to.
