WRONG. I've had it since it came out in NA and played the shit out of it. I am division 1 online and have finished a season in master league.
Passing can be switched from fully manual to fully assisted. How can itbe shit, you can set it up exactly how you want.
I play full manual. Every setting is off.
Shooting is fine too, just a lot of practice, which you obviously did not do. Dribbling shit? Are you kidding me, dribbling works great, much bettere than last years PES. Defending is difficult, not shit. GK's are indeed rubbish, they should fix that.

well i really like the game but everyone is allowed to have their opinions only fair the game has problems but i still manage to have lots of fun, i have FIFA 12 and i have played it quite a bit but didn't really enjoy it, but that is just my personal opinion
dribbling and ball physics need to improve- the ball physics are too light wheras in pes 2011 it was too heavy and it's the same for players. It;s too responsive making everyone look like their ice-skating and dribbling is too retardedly easy - ini pes 2011 it was too hard to turn aand dribble with the ball but in 2012 it's like a magnet

Guess I just played my last game !
Against West Brom. Superstar difficulty, as suggested by a fellow here to minimize the craziness I described on Top Player.
It is so frustrating and stupid I dont know where to start. so I am just bullet pointing my last observations.
1. 11 on target, twice hit the post for me, 1 shot on target for the AI and the result is 1-0 to COM.
2.Trying not to puke all over the floor when John Champion screams for 1000th time...Oh the Crowd love a dribbler....and on and on he goes.....Still going ! Mr. Nobody (no offence to West Brom fans) dribbles through my defense like crazy.
3. Hitting X to pressure the opponent is completely useless as it ends up in a yellow card for you, even though AI ALWAYS pressurizes you with the same method. AI DOES NOT SEEM TO USE THE DELAY METHOD. it uses the same old X pressuring but gets away with it easily.
4. It is only an illusion to say this PES is HARDER and has more CHALLENGING AI. It is only due to stupid dumbed down defending and unrealistic over powered dribbling skills that has led us to believe this false reality. I concede more goals, and stupid ones at that, and score less. Because COM can simply dribble me whilst I can't do shit because it READS MY MOVES.
5. How many styles of attack do you really apply against COM? How many are successful? Can you, like you probably did in PES11, build up your play the way you want or have you opted for a more direct approach, most likely from the wings?

6. THROUGH passes and LOFTED long passes are mostly useless. Because either the player is ridiculously offside OR the defender CUTS the pass with ease. The so called "Freedom in passing" is nth more than a freaking lie.
7. Shooting feels like passing. I never feel the same old feeling I had when shooting in previous iterations. The satisfaction is gone. The joy is gone.
8. CPU always uses the same fucking method with crossing to score because my keepers, NOT HIS, are utterly shit and always prone to a header...even not a good header.

but it is more responsiveness than pes 2011 so it flow more. Pes 2011 was unplayable, static and unfluid because you could find your cb offside and players running away from though balls. Shooting is supposed to feel like that eventhough it is very assisted but you can't expect everyshot to be hit perfectly with full power like in pes 2011 when players like walcott or neymar can do long shots like adriano or essien and for once you can feel the shots
But in freedom terms, pes 2011 is better.

posting my opinion and experience here so please dont be offended and please no attacks on my grammer, well 1st few weeks playing 2012 i felt just like the haters but i plugged away and made small improvements with each few games, then before i new it the game opened up and i was playing brilliant football and even managing to defend well against barca/madrid and the other top teams, still now an then ronny or messi gets thru beatin 2 or 3 defenders but not everytime, very realistic wen they do this for real now an then, anyway i genuinly believe that those who hate the game will see its potential when they improve there skill levels and that comes with practice, so dont take it back, basically keep tryin and u will get there. i only play online btw

How many of you guys play online, 3/4 star teams vs 3/4 star teams? I find playing with a team like Everton so fucking great. My grammar sucks a bit, so I'm not able to explain exactly what I mean. Many guys play let's say Real/Barca/Milan and then find the game boring cause of the speed merchants, superpressure and the lack of build up time/possibilities. But when you play 'normal' teams like Everton all these problems are gone. There are no speed merchants, not all crosses are accurate, dribbling is harder and the opponent isn't able to superpressure your defence, so patience build up is possible. You just need a lot more skill to beat your opponent than just simply give the ball to Messi. How many of you guys played a lot of 3/4 star games instead of Barca/Chelsea/Real/Inter etc? I honestly love it, I think playing these teams is what this game is about. I just played Ajax-PSV against a dutch guy. He outplayed and beated me 3-1, but I loved the match! I find many complainers are picking big teams and than complain Messi outruns Sergio Ramos everytime. Off course Messi outruns Ramos, what do you expect? If you hate Speed Merchants and uberpressure, just avoid them and make a 'NO TOP TEAMS' room, of play in communities.

The game looks and represents nothing called soccer, get it through your thick head yet its not even about the issues or anything else, the game simply doesn't resemble soccer.
The AI park the bus ( and even that in a unrealistic way like 8 ppl in the penalty box, where do you see that?? I can keep shooting from outside the box because im always wide open etc.. ) in every single match no matter who you play.
The stats of players mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, yes they might mean something to the player but for the AI they mean SHIT because the AI has their own overpowered stats regardless of what their player stats are.
The AI RUSHES forward like a maniac with no build up play just dribbling past your players and trying to shoot as fast as it can, where do you see that in real soccer? teams trying to take on players all the time?
All teams basically play this way, there is no difference between teams.

My point a few posts earlier. The COM controlled team crams the box with as many players as it can gather and only attacks with 2,3 players, because it doesnt need more, it just waltzes through my defense. I cant build up my play and I cant think of many ways to approach AI goal due to the overcrowded inbox. Its ALWAYS CROSSING all over again.
This is pure BS. Nothing more. I am back to PES 11 while I know it is flawed. This shows how much PES 12 has degraded in vital departments.
I don't need no fuckin face expressions, no new eyebrow lines, no shit. Because it doenst matter how beautiful player models are, it fades as soon as the whistle blows due to low resoloution on playable cameras. So stop advertising like it is a photoshop game KONAMI. FFS.
All they needed to do was to build upon PES 11 strong points but they failed again. I hate this game so much. The script play is back stronger than ever. It can drive you mad. And where the hell is Active AI? Active AI my ass.
Sliders mean no shit. Not to the team in control, not to the opponent. Its allways the same restricted gameplay.

You are an 8 year old that loves the game. Yay for you. konami made a game for you where you can just spam the turbo and cross buttons and you can score....oh and dribble at 90 degree angles without losing speed!
Judging from your posts, I can actually see why you love this game. You don't need to think or anticipate or really have any football knowledge whatsoever.
Just know which direction your goal is in, then keep spamming your auto-pass and auto-chip until you spam your auto-cross to your auto-header....
You are finally good at a game and you will die to make sure that konami don't change it to resemble real football. I understand, I really do; also I understand your futile attempts to attack people by saying they are just not good.

I played 2011 constantly, played the DEMO1 2012 and loved that. Never played DEMO2 as it never came out for PS3 but it sure sounded like people loved it and the DEMO's compared to the actual game are 2 different beasts. DEMO=great, actual game=WTF from what the vast majority say.
I win some, I lose some, and I draw some. But the way you lose is what is so dam frustrating.
IMO, the defense is worthless, the GK's are worthless. After getting owned yet again by a mid-level player dribbling thru 3 of my defenders and scoring I had to quit for fear of wrecking my controller.
The passing FEELS off. I was playing with pass assist at 2 and have sinced turned it off. Either way it still FELT off. Bar maxed out and it travels 2 feet. Bar barely filled and goes 30 yards. I try to controll the ball before I pass but that doesn't always help.
The shooting FEELS off. IMO why bother aiming as it FEELS like the shot goes where it wants and not based on your input. Yes I know pressure, controll, form, etc will effect this and that's how it should be. But the contoller input FEELS like a roll of dice.
Why did they mess with training in ML? Was it broke? What's with all the cut scenes in ML? Nice touch? maybe but it doesn't really add IMO.
These are my .02 and like I said, it would be interesting to watch someone, who loves the game play live to see what they do compared to myself. Growing up I never played soccer but over the last 6 years I've fallen in love with the game. For all the flaws in PES 11 I enjoyed every game. So far in PES 12, I've played 30 ML and 27 BAL matches, I can't say the same.
I play with an OF using ver 1.02 PS3 PRO -2 15' halfs. I have not tweaked any team formations or settings.
Again my .02.

In the demo the computer scored goals and beat me (sometimes badly) I never complained cos at least I thought the goals were fair. In the actual game I am amazed at some of the goals I concede.
There was nothing really added to ML with the cutscenes other than your transferred player talking to the press and talking to your players on the training pitch, other than that, pointless. They ruined training for no reason, that was one of the best parts of ML, individually training your players etc
Shooting took a step back IMO, players still do a slide animation when they could have shot properly, no fun long range efforts like 2010 and partly 2011 and no matter if you aim for the corner they will still shoot towards the centre ruining any good chances you have created.
