Just a PES Punter's Review

I may have some dodgy version of the PC version but if it is aything like the real, supposing mine is dodgy, then what a waste of time, effort and money.

Goalkeepers are shite and can't hlod the ball, get a shot on target and it'll probably go in. Numerous times from corners the keeper will just lunge at the ball and it will be an own goal. Absolutely bollocks.
I got my PC in the summer, up to date and everything, I've got the quality on low and had to download screen fixes and it still runs like shit. Need a NASA PC just to run it smoothly. I dread to think what online play would be like.
I'm not one for graphics or nothing, I just want a fun game that I can play again and again, and shitting myself everytime the opposition is within shooting range isn't fun at all. Or knowing that even if the ball goes within range of the keeper it's a goal threat. It's happened more than once where a cross comes in and the keeper just fucks up and it goes in. It's so annoying.
Overall it's a good game, I imagine if it ran smoother I'd enjoy it a lot more. And Team Vision, sounds good and whatever but they still need to get the basics right, like when a player makes a run with the ball and gets into the area and the closest striker is at the halfway line, or when all the players are static in set piece situations. But the keeper flaw and the commentating duo of Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson are enough for me to say no. Seems Konami have done what everyone is doing now, fuck gameplay and the reasons we play video games in the first place, let's just max out the 360 and PS3's potential, hence why the PC version is crap.

Bring on the Wii version, until then I'll just keep playing PES4.

The PC version is IDENTICAL to the 360 version so that makes you wrong for a start. thats why the PC version is a PORT not an individually designed game. Just as PES 6 was a PORT of the PS2 version

Aye...either that or his components aint supported.....but more likely he bought a prebuild "gaming" PC from some large retailer.

All my PC parts are essentially 2 years old also and my rig pisses this game out.

But I am all with Cadbury about the goalkeepers. If indeed the bootleg that everyone is playing is infact identical to the full release then I really cannot understand why Seabass would put this horrendous feature in the game..... Only explanation would be that he done it cos he is an asshole.......If I find this to be the case then no way am I giving him my 30 brick for the game.

Regardless of my specs and whatever else, the game is not worth a 30 brick as Mat said. I don't care about graphics and realism in games, realism means closer to life and life is boring. PES may be suffering the same fate as something like Need For Speed or one of those generic car game series. Where basically the more realistic it gets, the crappier it gets. Sure PES2008 is by far the most realistic, but that's what makes it shit. What's the most fun car series out there? F1? Need For Speed? Gran Turismo? Well none of them in my opinion, Burnout is by far the most fun, where the aim is to destroy other cars and stuff, that's fun, doing 60 laps on F1 or just racing on whatever game it is just isn't fun (I actually think the best racing game is F-Zero, but most of you probably don't even know what that is).

Maybe I'm just an ageing gamer struggling to keep with modern times, or maybe this generation of console is just shit, I don't know, but whatever the case, PES2008 is shit compared to its ancestors.
