.. i don't wanna seem like i'm constantly complaining, but i'd like to get an honest answer;

does ANYONE enjoy playing on SuperStar difficulty? (or any other difficulty for that matter)

.. the problem i'm having is that certain aspects of beating the game become to easy and predictable while playing on Top Player for a while ... but Super Star (the supposed answer to ''expert'' players) is just ridiculously difficult and plain unfair ...

... now don't get me wrong, i don't consider myself the best pes player out there.. or even close to the top for that matter, but i think i do alright;

even on Super Star difficulty i DO score a decent amount of goals (i'm a striker) and i play my butt off for every ball given to me (which isn't given too often), but even if i manage a 7.0 rating and doing everything in my power to win the game (and hoping i don't get subbed around the 60th minute for no apparent reason), my second best teammate rarely gets a score above 6.0, and the majority barely manage a 5.0-5.5 rating through most of the matches (and they're great players, statistically), my team somehow struggles around midtable time and time again..

..granted, if i'd be an absolute world class player, even though getting constantly fouled, outran and getting close to no support from teammates, i probably would be able to score even more goals and maybe, just maybe keep my team in the top 4,5 spots.. but i doubt i'd really find any satisfaction in it, as it would seem more like an insanely difficult ''me against the world'' game rather than a football simulation/arcade (whichever you wanna call it:p) ...

.. so, yeah, i kinda got lost there for a moment, but what i'm still wondering is if there is anyone out there who actually enjoys it, and if that ''one'' could share his secrets, cause i'd like to enjoy it, also :D

I do, maybe I'm the only one :D

First off just to give you some background I play on Superstar, 10 mins, player cam & have played the mode since it was introduced in PES2009 (on PS2 originally then PS3 from 2010).

I know from your previous posts that you have obviously played the mode a lot so this might not be relevant but the 1st thing I find with BAL is just to accept that your teammates wont always pass to you or play well & that the manager might make bizarre decisions. If you don't like it your much better off playing one of the other game modes. Just think of yourself as Steven Gerrard playing in some of the aful Liverpool teams (not having a go at Liverpool, just an obvious example). You play your heart out do everything you can to get your team winning a they cock it up.

Personally I never call for the ball, I just try to make intelligent runs & take up a good positions & more often than not my teams mates pass the ball to me. This isn't to say sometimes they don't just hang onto the ball a take a shot when im in a better position or get jockeyed out of play by the opposition, but that's football, just look at how many times in real matches strikers shout at the midfield for not playing a pass where they want it.

The subbing issue is a difficult one, this year it seems to be back to how it was on 09/10, last year I only got subbed 4 or 5 times in my whole career. This year I found I was getting subbed regularly in the 1st 2 seasons, but since then the only time I get subbed is if we are defending a lead & I give the ball away a lot. This may be due to position, I play as a AM & at the moment I'm at Milan. If we are winning by one goal come the 60-65 minute mark whoever is playing SS will get taken off for a extra DM. Most people I see who are getting subbed all the time so maybe it is the position that is causing it, so maybe try playing as a midfielder instead (the reverse is true of DM's though, always getting subbed for a striker when losing).

I cant really give any advice on the low teammate ratings as its not something I have noticed. My teammates always seem to get decent ratings most of the time.

Sorry for the long rambling post, I hope it makes sense ;)

^How'd you know i was playing for Liverpool!? :D however, after 4 years the line-up barely seems recognizable:p (i'm playing CF alongside Puskas, lol) ... and yeah, as difficult as it is to admit, their performance does seem quite similar to those of the actual LFC this year :D

It's not like i never get a good ball in, and i admit my effectiveness in front of goal isn't a 100%, but it bothers me that it's almost expected if my team is to achieve anything.

The thing is, i don't wanna play the ''Steven Gerrard in Liverpool'' as you've put it, for the rest of my player's career, and i feel that's exactly what is expected of me..

Granted, it may just be the Super Star mode, made for expert players who desire and are able to carry the whole team to success, but as i've mentioned, the top player becomes too easy once you get used to it.

Perhaps my problem isn't the Super Star mode, as much as it's a lack of another difficulty somewhere between Top Player and Super Star in terms of difficulty and ''fairness''.. but that's a problem i'll have to deal with, i suppose :D

I really think it's playing as a FW that makes the game like that, playing in MF I find I can do nothing except keep possession in a match & my teammates create & score chances without me.

Did you try not calling for the ball?

^that could be the case ... i'll try making another midfielder to test it :D

Yeah, i barely call for the ball actually, but as a FW, i feel as if i often have to track back to help lead the attack, so i'm basically playing as a MF all along, just not getting all the credit for it :tongue:

On the side note; I switched back to Top Player yesterday just to see the difference, and it suddenly feels a lot more realistic than Super Star! ...

Mainly it's probably because playing on SS difficulty kinda made me all twitchy and mistrusting of my teammates and my player's abilities, so now i actually find it a challenge to fit into the game style :laugh: ... that could be another way of dealing with Top Player becoming too easy and predictable; just playing a season or so on Super Star, then switching back :tongue:

yea i agree... like in BAL when im always playing in super star difficulty i hardly get to touch the ball because i usually play in LB and the AI is siriously annoying... usually no teamwork:no:
and i cant go around oppiste players because there are no tricks (just the lame once) to go around them... just lots of things that konami need to change...

No tricks? There is over 10 and in real life, Left-backs don't use any thing more complex than a couple of step-overs. Anyway, you don't even need tricks to get past players, you need close control (R2)
