Does anyone know how many 2048x2048 kits we can get on the new game? I'd be happy to sacrifice manager photos and even stadium photos if it meant I could give all non-licensed teams with HD kits.

You can try by import a few kits yourself in Edit Mode.
Go to Data Management in the bottom > import/export > import images > import kits (L) 2048x2048.
U can try import whatever kits, maybe try 5 kits so u have time to see the notification (if only 1 kit most likely u won't have time to see the notif bar because it's disappear too fast). There u will have info of how many 2048x2048 kits u can import left.

Even if you sacrifice manager photos and even stadium photos, it's won't be enough to give all non-licensed teams kits. Remember every team need at least 3 kits. The size of 2048px kits is taking so damn huge slots IG.

This year again it is not possible to equip all unlicensed teams with 2048x2048 kits.

If you only import emblems for clubs / competitions and kits of course, you can insert about 315 (+/- 10) kits in 2048x2048.
This means about 105 teams with HD kits.
In total Pes2018 contains about 249 unlicensed teams (if i counted correct).

So not enough slots for even half of all teams equipped with HD kits.

But when using the small 1024x1024 kits, this year it should be possible to equip all unlicensed teams with 4 kits and insert Manager and stadium images for all those teams as well ;)

If you want ALL teams equipped with kits AND have as much teams as possible to be equipped with 2048x2048 HD kits, you can equip about 56 teams with the large kits and 194 teams with the small 1024x1024 kits.
This ratio is valid, if you only insert 3 kits per team AND no Manager or stadium pics.

The change ratio for the images is as follows:
1x L kit = 4x S kit
1x L kit = 10 managers / stadia

This values are rough calculated. In the end there might be some small differences, but this should help to decide how to use the available slots ;)

I still don't get why it is capped anyway?? What is the point? Surely the only thing that restrains how many items you can import is the size of your HDD on the console?

I don't get it either.
Especially because the images are just linked and during a match there will be only used few of the imported images.
