Just wondered if there is any policy on people pasting things from other websites? On the Blackburn site I post on they had a well document case of another messageboard being sued by a news site for breach of copyright pinned at the top for a while.

Basically, the jist of it was that if you paste things from Skysports.com, BBC.co.uk or wherever then you are breaching copyright. In most cases they won't do anything, but it would probably be safer from people to just link to the article. The site in question (forget which it was) just posted transfer news and things onto their messageboards, the site got fed up and took them to court.

Also...it gets on my nerves. :D

I don't know about the particular site you're talking about, but there's a website called TransferWhispers or something like that, which is just a forum in which people post cut and pasted transfer rumours from all over the internet.

Is it just me, or is that practically what the football forum has become?

It pretty much has become a rumour mill, although hopefully the amount of paste'ers will decrease when the season starts proper. That's what I hope will happen anyway

Well if were going down that line then we should be fined for advertising "what song we are currently listening to" and our copywrighted avatars like the badges and kits and stuff... But i spose your talking about copying and pasting stuff.... I'd personally post the link to the page with the content rather than passing it off as my own

There's nothing illegal about saying the name of a song, if you started posting mp3 links then you would be in breach of copyright.

Since you brought it up...almost every avatar in here is likely to be breaking copyright laws, but no-one actually cares. The Blackburn site I post on had to remove custom avatars because people were using the Blackburn badge and various things, the official site didn't like the use of official Blackburn pictures and on there so they had to take that facility away. The most you would get for that though is a request to stop using them, it's not going to get the site into any trouble.

The copying-and-pasting thing could though...the strange thing is it's actually more work to paste the article instead of pasting the address, it's not like people have to go out of their way not to do it.

I'm actually not that bothered, I was just bored and felt like being pedantic.

ahahahaha, thats stupid, why would they take you court.
Well...it's exactly the same as if you made your own newspaper, but just made it up of articles from The Sun or whatever. I thought it was fairly obvious really.
