After jm101292's initiative to write the progress of his player, Jake Marshall, I've started the storyline of my own character, Ludovic Stiglitz.
Ludovic Stiglitz, born 1992 in Geneva, started playing football at the age of 5. He quickly showed some great abilities with the ball. At the age of 10, he was playing with twelve years old. Incapable of playing with older ones because of the physical disadvantage he would've had.
While playing for Servette FC youths at the nationals, he was approached by a Valencia CF scout. This was an opportunity that Ludovic and his family couldn’t let pass. They all moved in Spain, with Ludovic training with the VCF academy. He made notable progress during his 16th year on the planet. He played a total of 304’ minutes of football with the reserves, sometimes getting a glance at the likes of David Villa, Juan Manuel Mata, Carlos Marchena and David Silva.
Valencia trainer, Unai Emery, was willing to give the Swiss a chance. But 3 French clubs approached the teenager and proposed being part of their professional squads. As the teams were lower ranked than “Los Che”, Ludovic was a bit reluctant to join them. Valencia didn’t hesitate and let him go on a season long loan. Their jewel was about to get some playtime at the highest level, even though it was the French Ligue 1. Le Mans UC 72, US Boulogne-sur-Mer and Grenoble Foot 38 were on the cards to welcome the Swiss talent in their squad. Le Mans UC 72 were the most persuasive as Stiglitz arrived unknown in France.
French air
Manager Paulo Duarte rapidly saw the Swiss’ potential. Stiglitz, aged 17, after only 5 training matches, worked his way into influential players in the changing room. He got his first glance of French football as a center midfielder (CMF). Chemistry was growing within the squad. Ludovic played a key figure in Le Mans UC 72 triumphal win in the French cup. At the end of his first and last season in France, he made 25 appearances, mostly as CMF but also as DMF, scoring 10 times and assisting 2 goals, even though he pretty much was the attacking asset of the team with Anthony Le Tallec. Le Mans finished 13th in the league ranking but made the unbelievable achievement of lifting the cup, mostly because of Frenchman Le Tallec’s and Swiss Stiglitz’s hard offensive work. The Swiss gained some great experience as he played a total of 2393 minutes of French football.
In June, as the negotiations get wilder, Valencia CF recovered their pearl although Le Mans and Grenoble were on the ranks to welcome the Swiss under 19’s international. Los Che finished 2nd in La Liga and were eligible for Uefa Champions League Football. They managed to score 84 goals and concede only 37 in the league. As Stiglitz was coming back from France, Valencia negotiated the transfer of Gilmar, great Brazilian goaltender, to feed their glory hopes of Champions League success.
Back to Spain
As he arrived in Spain, Stiglitz had to work his way into the starting XI although he had impressed with his loan spell in France. Playing his natural AMF position, he made some great performances which allowed him to get on the subs bench. After coming in 3 times in a row around the 60th minute, Ludovic finally made the starting XI for the first time.
Able to play two positions decently wasn’t a factor, as he was the first choice attacking midfielder, before Silva, who was repositioned on the left wing. Chemistry with other players was growing as Valencia CF easily passed the Uefa Champions League group stages. In January, Stiglitz got offers from France, again. He didn’t want to go back, as he was enjoying as much as possible his first half-season of Spanish football; and VCF didn’t want to let him go, as Ludovic signed a 3 years contract.
Shortly after January, Valencia, who were having troubles in La Liga, played some great football and got 7 wins in a row to approach leaders Atletico Madrid. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid were also forcing to get first place. Until the last fixtures of the season, it still was not able to say who was going to be crowned “King of Spain”. Three fixtures before the end of the season was the Champions League finale. Valencia, having gone through the groups stages, had to pass the first knock-out, the quarters and the semis to reach their ultimate goal. First on was Sporting CP, who was beatable for our squad. Then, it was the turn to face Manchester United. We went to Old Trafford first; Stiglitz scored a beauty as we beat the Englishmen 0-1, playing a defensive game. We played 1-1 at the Mestalla, so we went into the semi-finals. In the semis, we were drawn against the almighty Real Madrid, who we played some immense games and won 3-1 on aggregate. Our dream was on!

Great encounter against a great team! We managed to get back to the score after trailing 1-0 with a Dejan Stankovic screamer. Captain Albelda lifted the trophy as Eto’o and co. were leaving the field, humiliated by a team of lower standard. After this sensational victory, the club went from 7th in the “Team ranking” to 1st.
This ascension can be explained by the fact that we won the Copa del Rey and La Liga! We won against Real Madrid on the last fixture. This was THE match to decide whether Madrid or Valencia could lift the title!

Switzerland head coach, Ottmar Hitzfeld, called Stiglitz for the European championships qualifiers after their deroute in the group stages of the World cup 2010. He was hoping to hit a new generation of players with high potential (Senderos, Barnetta, Fernandes, Derdiyok, Stiglitz).
The Switzerland national football team qualified, ensuring the 2nd place in their group.
