It was confirmed awhile ago that a Mafia 2 was in development but then it was announced that the game had been cancelled. Then in 2005, it was 'unofficially' confirmed by someone who claimed to work at Illusion Softworks posting on some message board that Mafia 2 was not cancelled and schedules to make its appearances during 2006-07. However, it didn't look very legit.

I was just discussing how underrated Mafia was on another forum not long ago when these rumours for Mafia 2 sparked up again and now it has been announced. GTA? Give me Mafia anyday. :happy:

Excellent, one of the greatest games of all times, better than GTA in my opinion, good storyline, realistic, top game.

I found the original Mafia game dull and boring, it was on xbox (if that makes any difference) but the framerate was awful. However this new game looks good, and I think ill have to give it a try.

It makes a lot of difference. It was originally a PC game that was badly ported to consoles. Most people who have said they didn't like this game is usually the ones that bought the console version.

I prefer Mafia because I find the plot in Mafia so fasinating and draws me in whereas I find GTA fun for running around killing people for like 30 minutes before getting bored.

It was only announced to be in development a few months ago and has no release date and I wouldn't expect an exact date for awhile anyway.

I might have to re-buy :)naughty:) the original for the PC as I never finished the PS2 version due to it's constant crashing.
