Master league skill level! Need advice!?!?

Hello pes community! I have been an avid pes fan since the days of ISS! Even though konami have made mistakes throughout the games I have really enjoyed the last 3 instalments.

Last year on pes 2011 I played the ML on professional skill level and won the league and eventually won the champions league after a few seasons. I even contemplated putting the skill level up to top player but by this time pes 2012 was out.

Right to my pending question! I have started a ML with the default teams on pes 2012 in the championship and have just completed a season. I have won only 6 games and have pretty much lost the rest drawing a few along the way. Most games I have lost were 3-0 or 4-0. I have been pulling my hair out trying to tackle and end up giving a free kick away which is normally converted expertly by the computer scoring a right pearler into the top corner! I dont want to change the skill level and lower it to regular as I feel like I'm cheating myself. However I might be forced to do this if I don't improve. I have had a few games on regular on exhibition and find it easy to score! There is no balance between the two!

So is there some special art to tackling? Have konami made the game harder, last years professional is now this years regular? Any suggestions on how to over come my quandary? Please let me know how you are getting on with your master league and what skill levels you are playing on and how your finding it?

Cheers.

Welcome to the club of D2 losers. I got fired on pro once. I restated on regular and qualified to D1 after 2d season and I won championship in D1 the next season. I then restated on pro again and survived 2 seasons and playing my 3d in hopes to finish 3d, but I am not sure if AI will allow me. So yeah the difficulty level is definitely screwed up. The gap between pro and regular is pretty wide. It is somewhat competitive on regular initially though.

Myself and my bro have started with the default team in D2 - Superstar level, we were bottom but after the last gaming session we had our learning curve increased and we played lots better winning 3/4 of our games and have moved upto 12th

Tackling is all about positioning, do not rush the ball, stay infront of your man. I use R2 to turn my defender square on. Remember you dont press X to tackle thats pressure, tackling is automatic, unless you are sliding, but I use that to block and intercept more

R2 really is a great button, if im going to recieve the ball Ive got R2 on if I want close control, short passes, and what my bro keeps shouting at me "TRIANGLES" PASS & MOVE"

Well he is the Manager, he always has been, He's Kenny Dooglish and Im Gav Clarke or Steve Gav , yes we're LFC fans:D

the ball was hit over my head and going out of play so I press R2 and diagonaly back down inwards towards the pitch and did some awesome skill and kept the ball in.

I will stress the point again, dont rush the ball

Cheers for the advice guys I will definitely bear it in mind. The gap between regular and professional is defo wide I must agree. I got the sack on my second season as I was rock bottom of the table. I have started again on regular and I am unbeaten in 6. That's 6 really convincing wins top may I add! Something of a quandary as winning 6 in a row is as bad as losing 6 in a row in my opinion. I may try the switch to pro again and see if I can stay in a job.

Plus thanks for the advice on tackling. I read on here too that you have to jockey players and really time your challenges. Which is great and adds longevity to the game I think. I just hope I can master these skill levels.

One thing I meant to add too is the pass assistance. There seems to be different opinions on the default pes passing. Is it 3 bars out of 4 lit up? What passing assistance do you guys use!

Cheers lads anyway and speak soon!

I think my pass assist is set to 2 bars, but all my auto assists are off

this game definately has a steeper learning curve than the others without doubt and
I like the bit about winning 6 in a row and losing 6 in a row, trying to achieve a good gaming experiance, fair play to you Sy

talking about levels though, a general thought & my opinion in regards from top player to superstar level is that whilst superstar is harder its better, I certainly have found this to be true, its a far more enjoyable and rewarding experiance on superstar for me

With regards to players scoring freekicks against you you can become the Goalie, I think I saw on here you hold down L1 or maybe you just press L1 and it cycles through the players, not sure to be honest, could anyone else confirm how to become/move the goalie please.

press l1 and R3 at the same time, you will become the goalie, to unselect press L1 and R3 again, im not sure if the keeper will dive automaticallly when he's selected.. Never dared trying it :).. Just select, move a little on the line, then unselect before the opponent takes his free kick..

Yeah trying to get the level just right. Whilst scouting the pages of this forum I read that someone couldn't win on professional but jumped to top player and they found that this style of play suited them more and it was just right. I might try it got nothing else to lose have I. :) I don't know about being the goal keeper I am going to give it a try though. Might be a laugh!

Don't feel bad about lowering the skill level. The opposition AI is insane this year compared to 2011.

It's out-of-this-world unbalanced.

I had to patch it to get it to play properly. No more superhero mode b.s. for me.

Yeah, the cpu(no matter what team they are) make Godlike interceptions that not even Barca would make.
But atleast it was a challenge unlike last years easy AI

Master league skill level Need advice

wky215 You said it wouldnt even do a test cut. My cutter has a function button on it for test cutting. It doesnt even have to be connected to a computer for this. Does your cutter have this function. Thats why I asked earlier. It should be able to do a test cut without being connected.

If it will not even do a test cut than I would think you have some other issues. Bad circuit board maybe?

What does it do when you turn it on. Does it let you select material size or anything?

Just a quick Update on how I am doing. Using the default master league team I have been forced to put the skill level down to regular. After half a season I'm romping the league and have only lost one game drew one and won the rest. I wish there was a skill level in between professional and regular as I think I'm somewhere in between on this game. Older versions I was always At the top end of professional skill level.

So I devised a plan to try get a good gaming experience. Regular skill level. Passing assistance lowest setting and I even tried camera angle on vertical wide. This is the only thing that bugs me about this game! Have they just made it harder this year or is it me getting old and cranky!

The games harder no question about that, I played on Top player all the time on Pes 2009- 2011, thinking this wouldn't be any different, the first thing I did on Pes 2012 was get enough PES points to unlock Superstar level, to start my Offline ML at the hardest possible setting.

"I'm a Pro Evolution Soccer Veteran!!" I was gloating to myself "Let's see what Konami have got??"..........Hmmm after losing my first 6 games on SuperStar, Konami clearly showed me "what they got" and all I got was a good hammering for not being good enough, and possibly a little too cocky.

I have knocked the level down twice since that opening week of unbelievable defeats and now on Processional, I've found my level. I'll get better and probably knock it up to Top Player at some point, but at the moment I win some, draw some and lose some, to me that's realistic.

I suggest though, if your finding it too easy on Regular with the default ML team, putting it up to Pro, because your team will improve as you bring in better players and your existing ones get better, plus you get better too.

It took me 2 seasons to get out of D2, the 1st season I finished 15th, and only was that high, because I won the last 4 games otherwise I may have been bottom. Let it be a little difficult, let it be hard to score, let it be hard to defend, it feels much more worthwhile when it finally clicks and you score, or get your first away win.

If your banging them in right left and centre NOW, what are you going to be like when your team gets half decent?? Bored probably. Put it on Pro and if you find your only getting beat by the odd goal and you look back at it thinking, "i could have got a point out of that" That's the level for you.

Good luck Sy14.

Oh 1 thing. Don't go on exhibition thinking ML will be the same.....it isn't, I can beat any team the same skill level as the one I pick without a problem on Top Player. Exhibition is just that a Friendly and they mean bugger all. Do you think Spain really give a shit that England beat them 1-0?

Cheers for that lee. You know I just read your reply and I thought. You know what this guy is right. You have inspired me to make it work. I have just put my master league on hold and I'm going to practice some defending in the training.

As for the exhibition games again that is a valid point it's mad how hard they have made this years version compared to last. Are you on playstation or Xbox! Wouldn't Mind giving u a game. I'm on Xbox! Cheers again anyway and happy gaming bud!

Unfortunately for you mate I'm on the PC version. I have an Xbox but always get PES on PC due to it's modding options.

It is harder this year yes, but a lot of it I think is the new defensive system and the (off the ball control) you have. It's a case of getting used to them and after a while you can use these new aspects of the game to your advantage rather than seeing them as a problem.

Defending is better now although I didn't feel it was at the start, when your playing teams much better than you, the option of holding up their counter attacks to avoid getting punished on the break can be a god send rather than throwing defender after defender at the attacking player.

Plus a little tip, get used to using the right analogue stick to change players rather than the shoulder button, that takes a bit of practice but once you can do it instinctively it's a massive bonus and makes you able to close down attackers quicker.

I agree with .Lee. about choosing difficulty. I am playing on professional after abandoning regular ML after 3 seasons. It was extremely hard to survive first 2 seasons in D2. I just got promoted after my 4th season and my team is quite competitive with AI now. Just try to survive first 2 seasons and bring in good young cheap players. Professional level is just about right if you build a team
