Update. Played close to 250 games now and I can say that I have overcome the difficulty that this games gives. :)
I play on superstar 1.02 patch and got rid of the Jenkey patch cause it made the game too easy. :S
I win against weaker teams and sometimes even against bigger ones with my 3rd season Portsmouth FC. :) I am fighting for europa league spot now. My advice to all of you that complain against this game:

Just stick to it. The game is beatable after a while. You just need to learn to play and ofc which tactics to use against which tactic. That makes is easy. :) I flamed this forum and raged at the game and I can see I was wrong now.

These are my tactics which I use and thanks to ABU97. He posted these first.

All out defense - Use the all-out attack tactic and formation on simple settings

Possession Game - Use the long-ball or all-out defense tactic and formation on simple settings (If the coach says it's best to stick to our strengths than their weaknesses, use long-ball. If not, use All-out Defense)

Quick Counter - All out defense tactic (If it says they use the physical route 1, then use 'out wide(Defensively)'

All-out attack - All-out Defense tactic and formation on simple settings

Long-ball - Use Possession Game tactic and formation on simple settings.

P.S.

I recommend for everyone to try 4-2-3-1 formation with either 2 CMFs or DMFs (whichever u got). It works very well.

Those tactics worked for me as I was struggling on professional but know I find Superstar too easy with Genk as I am second in divsion 2 with real players. I'm scoring goals at will and thinking if I should be a worse team.

P.S. Get Limbombe, he is cheap and 17 yrs of age with a rating of 70. He has magnificent speed and gets past a lot of players. He also has a great steep growth curve. He will fit into any team as he is kinda versatile but to me he's a gem as he has great low crosses

Does anyone know how to patch this game to balance the skill level out! I will be forced to sell this game if I don't start enjoying it as thats pretty much the whole point of gaming. Regular difficulty is too easy! Professional is about right except when the computer decides its gonna score it finds a way. It's somewhat infuriating when I have tried every single tactic, Formation. Losing 1-0 to the computer 13 games in a row and all the goals come in the 80 something minute. Surely that is a tad unrealistic. A patch to remove this evil bug would be welcomed kindly

Pretty much my experience too on pro. I am suddenly stuck in the middle of the table in D1 no matter what I do. If I qualify for EL then players are tired and I place even lower next season. The difficulty is messed up with interceptions being too good from AI. I switched to regular and 1 loss and 1 draw in 15 games. This and too random shooting are killing the game for me.

I switched from ML to Become a player because I just couldn't find the right balanced difficulty. KONAMI have yet found another way to screw me in the arse

That sucks dude. I'm waiting for my mate to get the game for Xmas. We will continue with a league we have been doing. If it wasnt for this then I would get rid of the game. How can konami keep screwing things up like this. They get it almost right one year and the next they take a step backwards in one of the most important areas, the gameplay. PES has always been renound for the great gameplay but when the user can't enjoy a simple game or ML then what are we meant to do. I saw a post on another forum about testing the skill levels. Basically pick any team and play Barcelona on regular. If u can beat them with 3 different teams 5-0 then ur ready for professional. I beat them 4-3 with athletico Madrid then played the same game on professional. I lost 5-0. Maybe regular is my skill level then!

When I play professional, my results vary a lot - . I was once Udinese and I was versing Chelsea and I had so much shots on target and dominated possession but yet I didn't even get a point out of this. This is what I mean by a balanced difficulty - when CPU don't score with the first shot on target with a scripted goal
