Master league is great. I just got promoted from D2 to D1 with Zenit. I was in the 4th place most of the season. Was behind by 5-7 points from the 3rd place with 5 games to play. Then with 2 last games of the season I was playing the second team in the league(PES united or w/e), which I beat 5-0 (funny-I beat them 4-1 in the first round too. Other games never ended more than 2-1) and I was basically 1 point behind the third place with one game to play. I basically needed a win or a tie if the other team lost their game. So I went for a win, of course. Played 4-1-3-2 with basically 2 CDs, 2 wingers (Anykov and Sirl), 1 DM - Timoshyk, 1 CM-Denisov and the rest of them were in attack -Zyryanov, Domingues, Arshavin, Tekke. I had a number of perfect chances but their goalie was great. Same goes for Malafeev as he had to make some spectacular saves to keep the ball out of the net for us. The game ended 0-0 and I was about to get disappointed when the players started celebrating. Apparently the other team lost their game and I got through to D1. Yay! A lot of fun :)

hio,

i am 12 and um how do u git classic players <3
:erm:

i used defaults. 1st season struggle. 2nd season decent. 3rd season ridiculously easy.

i think first division seasons are so easy because konami have got the stats of so many premier league players wrong...

Hehe, I'm getting slaughtered in division 2, I'm in 10th position right now with 3 wins 3 draws and 8 losses. I did manage to get Gambino and Nachiento, but I missed out on another good player named Walton who I really coulda used at the back. I also got Saivet, though he's not developping like he does in Football manager :(

Anyone else know of any good hidden gems? I'm looking for players that'll develop really quickly (like Vanden Borre in WE8).

Im not sure if he is the same in pes 2009 but in 2008 and football manager

Sortris Ninis

He can keep ronaldo out of the side when he hits peak.

Anyone know if it is possible to choose each player when using create a team in ML?
I remember there was a glitch on PES08 but I forgot how to do it. Does it still work in this version?

master league is ridiculously easy. i've finished my 3rd season and topped league with a 3-1 victory over utd, 4-0 victory over chelsea etc.

gunther is one of the best ML youths.. by 3rd season he has 96 body balance lol. get him and a decent cb and you're good to go at the back. for 10 seasons. i have kaiser, shaw, gunther, bianchi (konami ml youth), park chu young, audel, oreelano, rowland, kremer, hong yon nam, etc.

im dissapointed at how easy it is this year. my first season was BRILLIANT in D2.. i just about got a respectable finish (no promotion) and i thought this would be a great longterm ML. then i got promoted on the last day in my 2nd season. however, as soon as i got to the first division with a bit of reputation and a decent squad, no one was that hard to beat. teams aren't ruthless infront of goal and the same tricks can get you goals. whats really dissapointing is the AI doesn't use its player to their fullest capabilities e.g. ronaldo in 3rd season is a GOD (99 attack, looooads of reds) yet the computer doesnt use him very well. its annoying how easy it is to beat your man... 2 quick direction changes and any lb/rb is beaten. cutbacks are still the easiest way to score goals. people talk about fifa throughball but cutbacks are just as bad for PES (lol not that the computer uses them very well ;D)

i have gone on about this too much but try using manual for evrything it makes it the best and most challenging pes game ever.

It always plays like this. And after the fourth/fifth season, you'll have 30 really, really good players, so you can always play players that are on great form (red arrow up), and you'll almost always win. Unless in those games where the CPU says "no effing way" and you dominate the game, but they get the only goal in a match on a corner or other fluke.

B-o-r-e-d to tears of the Master League.

What like a team playing in the same league every year makes no sense to you? Thats like saying "OMG the buttons are the same as last year, how lame!" or "This sux, its the same teams again!" or how about "PFFF the same coutries as last year pathetic!".

If all you do is play exibition matches, thats fine but to say that a CORE mode of PES gameplay should be scrapped because its in it every year is moronic. And yes I DO play the ML with the same team EVERY YEAR. Thats part of the fun, taking a team of dross and turning them in to the best team in Europe bar none, thanks to good signings and playing well in games.

If ML was so crap it would have been dropped years ago, now its a crucial part of the konami franchise. If they pulled it how many people would still buy the game? If all you have was exibition mode, wtf would be the point of playing on your own? Adding in more game modes is a nice idea, but cutting out critical modes is not.
You're the one missing the big picture, dude. PES is all 'bout playing against each other and, sorry to burst your bubbles, ML is but a lowly addition. You honestly think that fans are buying PES because of ML rather then other challenges? Come on... Fresh modes are the future of PES. Old ones, such as ML, that keep repeating themselves will be its downfall. Face the harsh facts.

How can anyone waste his life on playing this ultra annoying mode that keeps repeating itself in every f*cking PES incarnation, over and over again. Every time new PES is out I hope that Master League would finally be left out in favor of some refreshing new mode but no! I thought nobody likes that crap anymore and then I find you guys! Go hang yourselves on a nearest tree, please!

I used to think like you right before I bought FIFA 09.. then i started playing the manager mode and i was completly dissappointed.. you can only play in a league (serie a, premier, liga).. you can't trade players.. can't play w/ teams from rest of the world (boca junirs, river, etc).. can't play with players that are not in a club (arshavin is in russia but there is no zenit so you can't play w/ him and you can't register him to a club in)..

manager mode does have a good idea w/ the sponsors and newspaper articles, but there are no rewards for being the top scorer or achieveing anything.. doesn't feel rewarding..

this week im selling my fifa and going to wait until pes comes out in 2 weeks..

Hey, got a question for you all :)

Not really been one for the ML as I've not really had the time. I tried ML for a couple weeks in PES6 for the main reason so I could use my team online in the tournaments.

My question is this... With PES09, are you able to use your ML in ranked matches? I ask this because when I create a ranked match room, I can only select Nations, Clubs or Nations + Clubs. But if I create a friendly match, It says "All" as well as Nations, Clubs or Nations + Clubs. So I'm guessing the "All" means you can use your ML team in friendlies?

If I can't use my ML in ranked matches I think I'll pass... :(

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind playing friendlies, but ranked matches are more satisfying, knowing the team you have made goes towards your rank. :)

I always like the Master League, there is no doubt that it could do with some tweaks but i have to say that it keeps me going back each season.
I also agree that different game modes can only help take the game forward but i think the Master League is the main feature of the game & should still be in future PES releases but needs to be tweaked & re-fined in my opinion.
I liked the previous comment about having a youth system in ML team instead of looking for re-generated players.

Alvaro Arbeloa turns into a brilliant right back after about a season and a half. Lucas is a real gem aswell, on the level of Gerrard after a few seasons.

napoli are a great team to start a master league with, it is a real challenge and they have some great youngsters, lavezzi is outstanding, they also have a young striker called russotto who has been hailed the next di baggio. For now i am starting a master league with juve. I love the idea of playing amauri with giovinco in behind and i also want to sign matuidi from saint etienne, he would be perfect for the midfield.

Started a master league with Ac Milan with the default players i.e. castolo. started on professional and found it hard to score yet defence wise i have not conceded much. I loaned Riquelme, Alfonso Alves and Iaquinta during mid season and have won 4 games in 5 since that! Am now looking to get promoted and get some good summer signings!

Just wondering what difficulty people start the master league at and how many start with the default players? Will put my difficulty up at the end of the season as it seems too easy to win with a few decent strikers on Professional...

Me and my m8 buy it primarily to play ML so we can play our ML teams against eachother.
