I have just bought the Action Reply Max Drive and am having a few probs saving the pesfan V1 file to my max stick... I have installed the software that came with it and when I open it up it brings up the memory information to which I have extracted the pesfan V1 file and dragged it into there to save.... it's comes up as if it has saved in the max stick but I don't think it is permanently saving it as when I take the stick out and plug it back in... the info is gone?

Any ideas anyone?

I have looked through the manual but it is full of info for when I transfer the data over to my ps2 memory card

What disc??
Download any option file you like and transfer it to your mem card with the Max Drive.

not to be taken seriously
Starky, you may have to copy it across, I think you press ctrl or shift when you drag the file into the flash drive. I've got windows xp professional and I've set it up to automatically copy everything I move. Other than that you could automatically download it onto the drive, but I can't really understand your problem, unless you've ot that lock function on on the side of your maxdrive.

Cheers for the reply Travis... I think it did go on there but I was expecting it to show on the Max Media Creator list.. but I think that only shows things that you are putting onto the stick, after I had a look in my 'e' drive in my computer I saw the files were in there... I've copied the pesfan V1 file so now fingers crossed when I get in and put the CD into my PS2 I'll be able to get the data out, crush it and save to my memory card :D
In which case I'll be one VERY happy bunny!

As a guide:

Pre-process recommendation - make sure you copy your existing option file to another memory card, just in case.

1. Download the option file to "My Received Files"
2. Install MD software on PC
3. Connect MD to USB port on PC
4. Go to "My Received Files" and right click on the downloaded option file.
5. "Copy" to "Max Drive F:" (should be the bottom option).
6. Take MD out of USB port on PC
7. Put PS2 MD disk in PS2, then turn off PS2
8. Connect MD to USB port of PS2 and switch on PS2
9. Press x to skip past Datel marketing film
10. Choose "My Devices"
11. Choose memory card with your current option file on it
12. Select your current option file and delete it.
13. Back to "My Devices" and select the MD
14. Select the PES4 Option file in the left hand window
15. Choose "Uncrush to MC" ( either number 1 or 2 - whichever memory card you want the option file to go to)
16. Switch off PS2
17. Boot up Pro Evo 4
18. Enjoy.

There are a few spelling errors, but nothing that can't be sorted out in 3 or minutes quick editing.

Right - I'm off.

Hopefully this will help a bit.

Dont be put off by all this writing.!!!!! Sorry

I know exactly what u are talking about. it did hat too me too. Sorry for not replying. Anyway. It is because you dont need to install the disk. you have windows xp, right. might as well chuck the p.c c.d away. Just put the max drive in your usb port. this should bring up a window called MAXDRIVE (H). If not then go on MY COMPUTER and u will see it next to CD-RW drive.

Once u have this up it is easy. Click on "file" and "new" and "folder" and a folder should appear in the window. Now open "my documents" where u saved your option file and have both "my documents" and the "MAXDRIVE" windows on the screen, so you can see them both. Then simply drag the option file from "my documents" into the "new folder" in the "MAXDRIVE" window. Now the option file is saved in the "new folder". Then go in the "new folder" and right click on the option file and press 'extract all'. Go through the setup. ( very easy ). and a new folder should appear with all the extacted files. No you can delete the original one, but no need really.

NOW your option file is on the max drive so take it out and head towards your ps2. insert the max drive into usb port and insert the c.d. When you get on the menu, go to my devices and then click on the max drive. you should be presented with some options. Dont click on copy, as this does not work. go down to uncrush and then select "to memory card". This will move the option file on to your memory card. Now turn on your game and it should have worked. Happy gaming.

i cant remember what i did. try putting your c.d in but leave it in when you get the message. or click on the new hardware found and see what it takes you to. once you can find it, its very easy after that.

Sorry to bring this back up, just found it while searching Google for max drive help.

I just got my Max drive thing today and just got it sorted, the instruction manual is a joke so I'll clarify it here for people still having problems:

If you're using Windows XP don't bother with the PC disk that comes with the Max Drive, just leave it in it's case. Just insert the Max Drive into the USB port. Wait a while and that little yellow box pops up saying 'New Hardware Found'. Quite a few of these will pop up until you see one pop up with 'Installation Complete' or something along those lines.

Then Open up My Documents and locate where abouts you've saved the .max PES4 option file (make sure it is .max, not .xps). Once located, go to desktop and open up My Computer. There should be a new drive installed, probably the E: or F: drives, this'll be called Max Drive. Open it.

Now make both windows small so they can fit on the screen together. Then in the folder where the option file is, pick up the option file and drag and drop it into the Max Drive.

Once that transfer is complete, take out the Max Drive and plug it into your PS2. Put in the PS2 disc that comes with the Max File and start it up. Once it's loaded up go to 'My Devices'. Then click on Mem Card 1, or whatever your current PES4 option is saved on and delete it. Note: You may want to make a back up copy on a different memory card first.

Once it's deleted, go back to My Devices and click on the Max Drive logo, select the 'P.E.Soccer 4 Option File'. Then select Uncrush to Mem Card 1, then once that's complete it should all be done, take out the Max Drive and the CD and put PES4 back in and restart.

Sorted?

Been using my new Max Drive today. Thanks to the 2 guides posted above, it's been very simple. Not sure how people managed to wipe their memory cards.

It is a bit of a hassle repeatedly plugging the max drive into the back of my pc though. Guess it'd be easier if I had a usb port on the front side. Seems pretty neat :) Not sure which is the better device to use yet.
