I finally got PES 2017 a good three weeks after release. I like it enough. I like it more than PES 2016. But I'm not sure 'enough' is, well, enough. I want to love it and I just don't. Once you've played a few games it starts to feel no different to last year really. The demo made a good fist of making you feel it's totally different, but then demos always do that.
Having said that, there are two things that happened to me when playing recently that would NEVER have happened in 2016. The first, in an offline game an AI assisted Jordan Ayew actually got booked, for diving, against me!!!! For DIVING!!!!!! How cool is that!
The other thing, again offline against the computer, the AI scored a quite magnificent back heel. They flung in a corner the ball bounced around and fell to their striker about ten yards out, on the floor with his back to goal and he HAMMERED it with his backheel and it flew past my GK at the near post. It was an AMAZING goal.
None of this would have happened last year, to my knowledge. So plus points for that!
