K. Asamoah from Udinese is a good buy. He's not a DM though, but can play CM, AM and LM. He's your typical Ghanaian player - strong, quick, good shot.

Riviere from St Etienne is a good striker. Takes a couple of years to start developing. Has a bit of pace, good dribbler and good shot.

Henderson (Sunderland) - Young, starts off quite decent, and levels fast!!!

Brockie (Other Club) - Young, good developer, scores and assists alot for me

Wilshere (Arsenal) - Same as Henderson.

Try Javi Martinez. He's young and an absolute beast, I was able to sign him for around 1 or 2 million(pre patch). He's a tremendous player

I also signed Lorik Cana as a DM just because I like him. He's a pretty good defender.

In the list of targets was a 16/17 year old called Duffy, Irish international, who can play various midfield positions, is a DMF by default but has a much higher rating as a full back.

...

Out of interest, I'm relatively new to football fandom, so I'm not sure if this guy is a real player or not.

Duffy is a legend of the classic ML Youth that used to pop up at various times in older versions of the game in the "Newcomers" section of player search, along with the likes of Bos, Kaiser, Shaw and co. In 2010 ML, the "classic youth" were much more rarely encountered, if ever (with the exception of your starting batch: Palmieri, Shimizu, Sahafi, Schmidt, Schwarz, Kooistra, Jacobs, Oscar, Pelaez, & Kim Jong Yeol), and often not as high quality as they used to be, as initial ratings became heavily dependent on Youth Team and Coach quality, though they did turn up with their "legendary" stats in BAL much more frequently for some reason!

Back when '08 was out, I made a list of ALL of them with development peaks and positions for this site, which you can check out here: http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=59922

If you see any of those dudes show up in your player search, don't hesitate to sign them, they're practically always incredible.

As I am just starting PES2011, I am making my recommendations based on PES2010... but there is no reason to suspect it won't be the same now.
Criteria: teenagers in Season 1, market value £201k or less and 'real' footballers, not youth or fake team players

If you play 3 up front the following SS players will not disappoint:
- Villalba and Lamela from River Plate,
- Muniain from Athletic
- Kadlec from Praha

Teenagers with ratings in the 60's, but they will grow with a default roster team and be starters from day one, as you hardly will play Burchets and Castello over them ;-) In 5 seasons these guys can either be a multiple Champions League winning attack or can be sold on for big bucks.

If you want a target man CF to be in the middle, with an SS on either side, Nouble from West Ham will be solid, but won't match the three I have listed above.

Central midfield there is:
- McCarthy from Wigan
- Propper from Vitesse

Both big 'box to box' rangey midfielders that can sit in front of the defense of link up with an SS that plays further away from goal

Just as an FYI, in my forth season with Ipswich (Gamingaccess patch, includes Championship), Palmieri had a whooping 98 Overall.

He was 20 or 21 at that point.

Got myself the PESEdit patch, which pretty much made Palmieri crap though.

Cameron Jerome (CF) from Birmingham turned out to be quite a beast in offence for me.

I always sign young players ( under 25 ) on the cheap (no more than £5 million for the transfer) then sell them on for a huge profit later. My current Cardiff City team has the following stars:

GK - Perin (Get him ASAP, 19 and one of the best)
CB - Palmieri (obviously) and Ranocchia (great all round)
SB - Marcq (Just been offered £8 for him) and J.A. Fanchone
CMF - Flum and Coutadeur (Barca want him 4 £15 million, turned it down for now!)
SMF - Harmash and Kieran Gibbs
CF - Andy Carroll and Sturridge

Subs (Best of the young 'uns)
Mutch - SMF - 19 from Watford - Will be a beast
Weis - SMF - 17 from Germany - Just IMMENSE, best signing yet!
Giroud - CF - 24 from France - Decent all rounder with a great shot

Has Riveire too but sold him at the end of last sesson for £18 million and a £15 million profit (meant a load of new staff could be hired!)

I think it's very cheap to sign young players because their market values are so low.. I can buy a bunch of good players for pennuts for the younger players.

Anyways players that are great young players:
Javi Martinez- I bought him for around 10 mil and he just grows, teams are offering around 40mil for him now..

Ruskin(Youth team)- Only starts out at 67 but grows alot. I'm currently in the middle of my 3rd season and he's around 77 now but I did basically play him every game.. And he's still growing.. He reminds me of a Phillip Lahm

Mosses(Wigan)- Every time I play with Wigan he grows and he's a talented player

I played OM in the champions league on my ML last night and unearthed a goalkeeper playing for them called HUTCHISON, who is English and rating is 87 at the mo and he is 23, he was pulling off great saves and couldn't get past him at all! I have decided to watch him, but he is keeping out 3 good goalkeepers at OM! anyone else come across him?
