Need advice and tips on a custom team formation.

Hey guys.

My cousin joins 13 of his friends once or twice per month to play cup and leagues with custom teams. They carry their consoles and LCDs to some guy's place and play each for almost the entire day, pretty cool stuff. One of them had to drop out (rage issues), and knowing I was a previous PES fan, my cousin called me and now I'm in. Tbh, I just got back from the session.

It's funny how distinct formations and player positions play a bigger role in the game, compared to anterior editions. In one of the small cups, I won only once out of seven matches, mainly because I had no previous training and had to mess around with the setups in each match. Now there's another schedule in about two weeks, and I'm pretty excited to test some stuff.

My team:

MAIN (4-4-2)
Victor Valdés; Vidic, Pepe, Abidal, Maicon; Gilberto Silva, Makelele, Quaresma, Ribery; Robinho, Saha

SUBS
Brad Jones; Ivanovic, Metzelder, Maxwell; Yaya Toure, Fletcher, Riquelme; Kuyt, Hulk, Giuseppe Rossi, Amauri

At first, I used a 4-4-2 diamond formation which consisted of Robinho and Rossi legging their way until the goal, because I have some troubles playing with slow strikers... It didn't work well. Then I replaced Rossi with Saha and edited Ribery and Quaresma as wingers, and now the team is far superior. It's looking quite like this:

I'd like to know from you suggestions on formation considering the options that I have. At first I despised the roster, but now I'm starting to like them and I reckon some potential.

Btw, some of the guys want to make some trades, but before I dwell into something like that, I'd like to have some exterior counseling first, lol. How you guys avaliate the following proposals?

- My Pepe for D. Milito (Inter) and Diego (Juventus).
- My Gilberto Silva for Pablo Aimar.

That's it. Sorry for the quite heavy text, and I hope you guys let me know what you think!

this shud be ur formation:
GK: Valdes
CB: Pepe/Ivanonvic
CB: Vidic
LB:Maxwell....if u want an attacking back, he's much faster than abidal
RB: Maicon
DMF: Gilberto Silva/Yaya Toure or change it to cmf and add diego if u trade
RMF: Ribery
LMF: Quaresma
SS: Robinho
SS: Kuyt or change it to cf and put D. Milito if u trade
CF: Saha/Amauri
and definately trade pepe for milito and diego and i think u shud trade g. silva cuz when u get diego gilberto silva will be a sub :D

HOPE I HELPED

if was me mate i'd go 4-5-1 as you've got some solid central/defensive mids that could control the game with some good wingers

GK: Valdes
LB : Maxwell
RB: Maicon
CB: Vidic
CB: Pepe
DMF: Gilberto Silva
CMF: Fletcher / Yaya Toure
LMF: Robinho
RMF: Ribery
AMF: Riquelme
CF: Amauri

if riquelme ends up being ineffective drop him and put Riberty just off the striker in the AMF position and put a Dirk or Quaresma out on the right and also if need more pace from the striker put Robinho there and have Maxell on left wing with Abidal at left back

only just noticed your possible trades, the pepe one's interesting as d milito and diego would be excellent in the CF and AMF positions but would leave you a quality centre back down as Abidal's not as good but could be worth it
