New Diving feature in PES 2008

The diving function will be helpful at times but anoying the times, for instance how many of you are playing Master League, Cup game final, and really want to get a penalty, i for one think the addition is good, i just hope for the sake of Pro Evolution Soccer that Konami, realise that it will ruin online play and disable it. Here are how i think the dive feature could work:

Only used in Exhibition(that way you have nothing to lose)
Have a limit number amount of dives per match(like 3 or 2)
Disabled online.

i think you should be able to use it as much as you want and there should be an on off feature if it becomes a problem.

I think if its going to be in the game (offline) its has to be accessible at all times. I dont think it should be disabled totally onilne, maybe just have lobbies or game options to turn it off for those that dont want it to be an option.

It's a fair comment to say that diving is cheating, and I wholeheartedly agree, but so is tackling from behind and no-one complains about that particular feature. I know that's a fairly shit comparison, but you can see the angle I am trying to come from here.

Ive played the demo and i think the diving feature is a good addition.

I noticed the AI tried to get a penalty against me in the dying minutes of the game when they were 1 goal behind LOL, happened twice too :laugh: both times they got booked.

Does a successful dive depend on the referee's position? Say, if you dive while surrounded with lots of players, the ref's vision might be blocked, and he might either give the foul, book the diver, or give nothing since he couldn't see anything. Has anyone noticed if that's the case? Also, does playing at home put more pressure on the ref to give a decision - either book the away player for diving, or give a penalty for the home team?

Well thats 2 yellow cards from 2 attempts for me. Quite like it though.

First 4 dives I pulled got me 4 yellow cards. First two were blatant Gilardino attempts to see how it would work, but the last one was a genuine attempt. I do hope they leave this out of the online option, although I fear the worst.

my 1ts few times were just testers really,it would be better if generally outside the area in non threatining positions the ref just played on instead of almost always coming and yellow carding.the position of the ref doesnt really seem to matter either.

shoulder to shoulder dives have worked once in god knows how many attepmts and the best way to get them seems to be to wait for the challend and then its just about reacting!

my worry is that ive been diving at good openings instead of going for goal!

I'm worrying about Master League. When the AI are loosing by a goal, they'll dive to win a penalty right at the end of the game.

That will leave ALLOT of people pissed off.

AI havent dived for me yet,i could see when they were gonna when they started joging along side of ball like when you press both rb n lb,but a disposesed em before they had chance.

I'm not sure yet, maybe an On/Off setting in General Settings. I was thinking of a Stay Down button too. Get taken down in a challenge, stay down. But bring the Dive on. Maybe a Diving Success stat in players ability. Like 1 to 8, like Condition.

After numerous attempts in the 5 minute demo, finally after 10 yellow cards and 3 red cards I had finally received a free-kick from a dive. Ironically it was right in front of the referee at the centre-half but other than that, it barely works.

your right dude.....we want a realistic game dont we....well diving is very much a real part of football....people go on about how terrible it is....but frankly players have been trying to con the ref long before this dive culture hit...wether it be appealing for a throw or corner that a player knows has come off him last...a keeper picking the ball up from behind his goal line and claiming a clearence (Roy Carrol v Spurs comes to mind). Dont get me wrong sometimes its pathetic....(Drogba v Lehman)....but sometimes its tactically well used..all the stick C.Ronaldo gets for diving....i have Never seen Ronni Dive...just goes down easily.

Then again....i am watching games through a Big Fat pair of United Glasses

Are there different diving styles? For example, you have the Platoon dive where it looks like you've been shot, or are they all tumbling dives?

I was just playing right now with the demo, one of the opposition players made a dive in my penalty box. The ref. motioned him to get up and gave him a yellow card. HA!!!

So, is the feature for next-gen consoles only? Because I can't get it to work on my PS2 (I also forgot the controls for it, so it would be nice if someone brought it up).
