New to PES after years away, what to expect?

As the title says been away from PES since probably 08, as jumped on the FIFA bandwagon, hearing good things about PES graphics etc..
So what can I expect? Is it better than FIFA if so how much?

Well it's much improved since 08, but there's still plenty wrong with it. Don't expect up-to-date squads for every team, accurate player ratings etc. Master League is a bit of a mess. Gameplay-wise, it is (in my opinion) much better than Fifa, even with all the problems it has (blatant scripting being the main one).

Gameplay is the main factor for me so is all good, FIFA is just same old same old. You can edit squads etc. Can't you?

The gameplay is much better than FIFA IMO, it's also better tactically, you can see your opponents exact formation and individual player stats, which helps when coming up against a relatively unknown side.

Also, any player can man mark any other player, which again, is a nice touch tactically, full backs staying with wide players, DM's snuffing out AM's, your wide players running back with their attacking full-backs, that sort of thing.

The Master League is a shambles though, FIFA's Career Mode is much more realistic in terms of dealing with the press, players, club hierarchy, your results actually affect your job status which brings a bit more excitement to the next game.

With PES's Master League I just feel like I'm going through the motions a bit.
