Hello all, thanks for having me on this awesome site. Only been playing WE since 7, but was immediately hooked.
Truth be told I didn't watch or know much about football till World Cup Korea/Japan. Not many footie fans where i'm from, so glad to find a community so dedicated.
Thanks to all those out there who have dedicated the time to working on patches and awesome option files. You've helped make a great game.....fantastic.
Can't wait till WE9 hits the states and I really hope that its possible to able to play PES players online!! I know thats where the real competition is at.
Later mates.

"The term "soccer" came into use in England during the 1880s by university men from Oxford and Cambridge. The use of "association football" as distinct from "rugby football" was already in practice, and "soccer" became a colloquialism formed by extending the second syllable of "association." While football is the more common name for the sport in Britain, soccer is still used today and one of the world's leading football magazines, published in England is called "World Soccer." The term "soccer" is used extensively in Canada and the United States to distinguish it from Canadian and American style football and is also widely used in Australia where the soccer team is known as the Socceroos."

thank you canadasocer.com for educating another ignoramous

How much Footy do you get to see in the States??

With my cable provider I have FSC (Fox Soccer Channel) which provides about 5-6 EPL games a week, 1-2 French League, 1-2 Serie A, and 1-2 Bundesliga. They also broadcast a lot of the FA Cup games.

We have the better EPL match-ups on PPV about 2-3 games each weekend.

I also have GolTV which gives me about 5-6 La Liga matches and about the same number for Serie A.

We have come a long way over the last few years. I have been begging my cable provider to pick-up Setanta Sports so I can get the SPL and more Rugby!

We get screwed on the Champions League, though. We usually only get one match-up per-week on ESPN 2 in the states, and a lot of the time they don't show the second leg of the match they showed originally. ESPN still hides football/soccer in the closet here.

I'm hearing you! The next question you should answer is how come you decided to call that monsterous sport you play "football"? surely something like "shitbeater" or "Start Stop then kick Ball" would be better :D

Hey hey Slide, good to have you along. And a dirty yank manck to boot? I won't hold it over you, although I am still wiping the muck from my shitkickers after what just went down in the Liverpool thread.

A dirty yank myself, lined up with Liverpool however I am. Pistols at dawn then?

that my friend is a mystery, but it can be attributed to the fact that rugby soccer and american football all originated from the same game called "football"...they were all called this for a while, and football just stuck to american football.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but if the gauntlet is thrown down I must accept the challenge lol.
Just so you know I only chose man u cuz as a newbie to football there one of the first teams I became familiar with, plus I'm a huge Rooney mark.
But I'm still openminded in regards to aligning myself with an EPL team if a sound argument can be given!!

Ahh good deal, I'll take that as you're still keeping your heart open for the right club. You're civil as can be though and even if you remain with ManUre I won't fault ya.
