Obscene Pushing!

Hi all, first post here and would like to say this is a great place for everything Pro Evo.

I am really enjoying the new Pro Evo 2011 game. Got it on its first day of release and have not put it down, i need a daily dose! It’s a lot more challenging than the 2010 and 2009 version. Offline play is majestic and thoroughly enjoyable when playing with friends. Online play experience has been significantly improved with little or no “lag” disconnects.

Here the but.... I consider myself a good PES player i.e. I probably win 50-60% of my online matches. One thing I really don’t get is the physical pushing when you play people online. I find myself being pushed around obscenely.

A prime example was when I was playing a guy online who was Barca and I was Chelsea. I successfully defended an attack and was on a counter attack with Essien in the middle of the pitch with Drgoba and Anelka infront.

Suddenly out of nowhere Iniesta who makes up the couple of yards I had on him like instantly, pushes me from behind which I manage to hold off and then pushes me again at which point I stumble and lose the ball. Now I’m thinking seriously how can Inesta one the most lightweight player push over Essien? one of the most robust players in the world? It’s truly perplexing.

I find this is also not team dependent as the same thing happens with any team i choose. Inter, AC, Chelsea....So called strong teams

I know Konami have made this game more realistic than the 2010 version as you no longer have the Messi and Ronaldo cheats who can dribble your whole team and score, but what is the body balance metric for when you can get pushed around by any player?

If there is a solution for this issue I would be grateful as this will help improve my play.
Thanks

Konami couldn't fix good players running all the way through goal so they made the player defending stronger and faster EVERY time. Give the ball to Iniesta in that situation and chase him down your box and you'll see like you will shove him off his ass.

It's scripted.

Thanks for the suggestion; I’m increasingly getting infuriated with this game. Maybe I just don’t know how to play it properly online.

On champions league - top player setting I won the perfect ten trophy meaning I didn’t lose a single game to the computer.

When I get online however, I get pushed around. Even when I have a significant head start on an opposition player I always get closed down and pushed off the ball almost instantly. I find the player switching on this game crazy, it’s like it selects the player who is furthest away from the ball.

Please can someone tell me how to track back, my right back and left back are always out of position and on a counter they don’t track back. I’m sure I’m losing hair!
Thanks

Happened in '10, too. I made a 6'7", 200-lb DMF who developed 95 Body Balance after a couple seasons, but he could be pushed off the ball by Messi or any other CPU-controlled player whenever the game felt like it. The exact opposite of the Adriano Problem of older games.

Very well put; truly perplexing, the explanation? The game simply lacks a lot of depth, this perplexing annoyance is one of the many byproducts of the following fact: the left analogue stick can only affect the movement in terms of moving from one space into another space, but it is impossible to affect movement inside a determined space.

For instance, if you want to move INSIDE a space of precisely 5 feet of distance, like INSIDE a square or circle of 5 feet of distance: it is impossible, because the left analogue stick and the d-pad, only affects movement in terms of running from one space to the next.

Standing tackles and dribbling, is done inside small spaces of approximately 5 feet of distance: if it is impossible to affect how you move inside one determined space of approximately 5 feet of distance -- who decides if Cristiano Ronaldo steals the ball away from Andres Iniesta? who DETERMINES the accuracy required to steal the ball away from a player like Andres Iniesta?

The computer decides and determines it, you simply take Cristiano Ronaldo, you hold the sprint button, and you run over Iniesta; the computer will take care of anything that has to do with defensive accuracies such as the accuracy of standing tackles.

Another example: you pulled off what -- visually -- looked like the perfect sliding tackle, but the computer decided it was a foul.

In the experience that you described, it looks like your opponent took Iniesta and ran you over by holding the sprint button and directing the left analogue stick; happens all the time, truly perplexing, but there is a reason for it happening all the time.

It's even more perplexing, when someone like Cristiano Ronaldo consistently takes the ball away -- CLEANLY -- from players like Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta; simply put, the game lacks a lot of depth and substance, but can be enjoyed for what it is, if only for a very limited time.

The only viable response to the problem that you have shared with us, is to do the same thing to your opponent: take Frank Lampard, hold the sprint button, and you will easily push and shove any player.

You cannot outrun players in this game, you can only out-twist the defenders, and at the most, this will either create space or it will at least earn you a spot kick; but essentially, due to how the left analogue stick functions, the game is scripted, and the computer is responsible for most of these perplexing occurrences.

Example: you were blatantly fouled but the computer decided it was a fair challenge, you loose possession of the ball, and this is entirely out of your control -- scripted.

Ali

It is happening again
It may be down to the form of the player. If Iniesta was on a red or even an orange arrow, it would give his stats a little boost, making his balance, and defence better than Essien, thus allowing him to push him off the ball.

It is annoying when you get pushed off the ball clearly and get nothing, then do a perfectly fair standing tackle from the front and get penalised for it.

Amateur,

Very well put, I feel you understand the inconsistencies of this game very well.

One strategy I have started using when playing online is to play a 5-2-2-1 formation with a strong team like Chelsea. It’s very negative! I actually laugh when playing it because it just Hoof to Drobga and try and get some support for him upfront.

One other glaring inconsistency I have noticed is that if you manage to get to the by-line and get a low cross in you are guaranteed goal as the ball will go past several of your players despite the ball being right in front of them.

And you are very right about outpacing opponents; I had Theo Walcott through on goal from an exquisite through pass with Carlos Puyol being the last defender and his back was turned the opposite way to his goal and yet he turns round sprints and catches me before I had even got my shot away. Truly laughable as Walcott’s pace is 97, yet a 32 year old defender caught me? Absolutely crazy!

In fact we've got Barca in the Champs League Draw, i would like to see Puyol chase down Walcott! lol

I don't think so. This is one of my frustrations with PES 2011; not just Messi or Ronaldo but it seems any player can dribble through your defense. A good example was a game, me as Manchester United against Aston Villa just this morning- opposition doing nothing in the game attack wise, but just as I have scored the opposition player from the kick off made one,two and three ping pong passes and the last(third) guy just go through my defensive as if their non existent. Then i score again to go one goal ahead and then from the kick off an almost identical restart and they score again to level the score. What bull?
