If the shoutbox goes, the people who use the shoutbox just won't bother to come on the site anymore. Won't make much a difference to the General Section. The PES Section however, is still very active.

A few have already said that they come on because the shout box is quicker and it being here or not won't impact their low activity in the forum.

That's not a strong enough answer in my opinion.

If some of the members that use that chatbox actually created some threads then maybe the rest of the forum might get involved thus helping the community grow instead of this "clique" like mentality. The issue is that current affairs and general everyday gossip and banter isn't getting posted at all anywhere on the forum, at least not like it used to.

This is a forum, not twitter.

Dundon's, forums like this one are dead away from core activities. It is a sad fact and how things have progressed. Users from the shoutbox will not create threads, we can prove it by removing the shoutbox but then those members won't bother to come back. It really is that sort of lose-lose situation.

People have less and less time these days and this site is a prime example of that. We're not the only forum going through it. Forums like those at OcUK are in a completely different space to where this place ever was and that's because of the completely different market they come from.

Shame, it's hard to find anything half interesting to read when you log in these days. I miss the heated debates most of all, the drama is gone.

I agree. Its certainly a shame but I feel as though we just have to remember the good old days fondly...much like with Serie A :>

Private chats? would be cool if something similar to facebook chat was implemented, as in they pop up no matter where you are without having to open a new tab or go to your inbox.

Remember that we're on vBulletin 3.8.2 which is very old and isn't going to be upgraded.

Also, quite frankly, the PM system works more than well enough. All you have to do is move your eyes toward the top-right of the window and read.

Captcha and/or the random question have been in use since the beginning. Both are ineffective against spambots :no:

Hi, clicking "go to first new post" next to a thread title doesn't actually go to the first new post - it links to a couple of posts before the end of the thread even if there are pages of new posts. Not a big deal but thought I'd let you know.

The spambots will always get through btw, they pay people in India to sit there solving captcha's all day.
