Patch 1.2 first impressions

Personally I think the new patch is really good, in fact im shocked that konami have realesed a gameplay patch that has actually improved the game at all, let alone by so much (then again i thought 1.01 was absolutely diabolical).
I've only played one offline game as man utd v spurs on superstar difficulty, but from the off was pleasantly surprised at how much more fluid the game felt. 1.01 was a disaster, i recall playing a game against newcastle and shola ameobi of all players was wizarding through my defence like superman, there was simply nothing I could do to stop him. Imo 1.01 was neither fun nor realistic (every player dribbled like messi and trying to break the ai down was simply boring), i pretty mutch stopped playing and was very tempted to return my copy of pes (didnt cos im lazy).
The one game i've played on 1.02 however was a massive improvement, there are still bugs present but the core gameplay feels so much better and smoother. For me both defending and dribbling have been vastly improved, it is no longer impossible to tackle a bog standard centre mid (i actually feel like i can pressure the CM's now and win the ball). There are also way less niggling fouls, the ones where ur player just runs into the opponent and without even pressing tackle u concede a free kick (which of course the ai score every time) seems to be gone (time will tell though).
There's also more emphasis on the midfield battle, in 1.01 the AI would just camp in the box, make an impossible tackle, then run up the pitch and score. Now they are a little more patient with build up play, passing more (because it is now possible to tackle!) and playing an overall much less frustrating yet still challenging game (i think its a little easier to score vs the ai now though). They also play a higher defensive line which means theres a little more space around the box, which is imo another good improvement (makes the game more fun and realistic).
Yeah i've only played one game (I won 1-0) but the improvement was there to see (not just some placebo), i dont know how the online fairs i really only buy pes to play ML, which i think i might be able to do now the AI isnt so sinfully boring to play against. However if there's one thing ive learnt about PES over the years its that initially it can seem really good, then after playing a few games the bugs and mistakes start to ruin it (i hope this isnt the case anymore).

Yeah defending is easier now, thank god. Now Szelawces strikers can not just sprint and go round 4 defenders and outplace the keeper every time. Free kicks are still shite though. Cpu score on every free kick against me, which is so frustrating.
I can have 65-35 % in ball possession, and i have 10 shots while cpu has 2 and both of them are free kicks from which they score of course and the game ends 2-2.

The CPU still let lower teams pressuer you. Also one thing that hardly happens in a pes game is that the possesion is now around 50-50. However I was Barca and they were VVV-Venlo and we both had around 50-50 possesion and they were pressing me like mad. I think i need to put it down professional from superstar

I am being a little petty on this one, but I wish they would update the color of the Nike Seitiro ball.
I wish they had included the Tango ball...but then again, i wish they had included alot of things....

The more I play with the new patch the more I feell its the same as before, the only difference is the tackling on defense and fighting to get the ball using X, its much better but shooting, crossing, dumd deflections that end up as goals, passig, all feels the same... Shooting is still random it seems with little control to the person shooting.
I think I have to stop playing quick match also, so tired of Barca or Real, every single game! I think of all my losses online 95% are to those teams. Ive gotten to the point that when someone picks Barca I do the same just to F with them but that to me isn't fun.... Last night this one guy picked Real and I was going to pick Barca but accidentally picked the team to its right, I dont remember the name, starts with a G... they looked horrible on the stat sheet before the game but I just went along with it... I ended up beating him 2-0 and the team felt like I was controlling a top tear team.... it didn't feel much different than a superteam, the spped of the players, the turning ability, the pin point passing etc etc...this really turned me off that I was able to dominate Real with such a lesser team, just felt so generic and bland. Since I was so undermanned "on paper" I just did "all out attack" and bombs away! but this is not how it should be, bombs away and full on attack vs a team like Real would be suicide but it wasn't, I dominated from start to finish.
The team I used should have struggled big time vs Ronaldo and the super team of Real but that wasn't the case. Its the 1st time I used such a bad team vs a super team and something didnt seem right with the way that team performed.

I guess I could find a thing to add that u didn't mention, the cpu does seem to rush a bit less than before, but apart from that I don't see any improvements.
Goalkeepers still suck -> I juist scored against real madrid who have Casillas with a shot trough the middle, lolz. The only thing I noticed that its almost impossible to go past the keeper one on one by bursting ahead which actually is not realistic, let Messi go 1 on 1 against a keeper he will go past him 9 out of 10 by bursting to one side.
My GK rushes forward sometimes and concedes a stupid goal and i cant stop him.
My Defence still keeps freezing automaticaly sometimes allowing the CPU to go one on one against my keeper.
The CPU AI still parks the bus and even that in a unrealistic way, I mean 9 players INSIDE the penalty box even when my players are like 25 meters away from goal, what? lol I can keep passing around their box without a problem its just stupid.
Shooting is still automated, sometimes when I aim left it shoots right.
I still am not in control of the players, the game forces me into things and fights against me instead of with me.
Passing is still random the power is different sometimes even tho you use the same power and yes its on 0 assist.
Crossing still the same.
Deflections to CPU still present.
etc etc..
It just seems to me that KONAMI simply don't know much about football and about whats wrong in their game and what to fix.

hmmm... I mostly agree with yuor post MM ... This game is the most frustrating PES i've ever played :lol: I find that if you play it vs a friend or someone who plays "sim" its good, fun and a good game, but the super teams like Barca have way too much advantage and too easy to exploit the games issues.
The shooting is really annoying, I could have 20 shots on goal, with 18 of them going to the goalie, my opponent 2 shots, one to the goalie and the other is deflected by one of my defenders and crawls in past my keeper.... As for the keepers, you could still round them, I don't know if its because my opponents take control of them and rush out but I still could go around them and score, its basically the only way to score on a 1 on 1 because everything else will go straight at them LOL

i really enjoy reading the opinions on this site but never really comment but this new patch has wound me up that much i have to im not one to moan about konami or the game normally but this patch shows you everything that is wrong with pes 2012 for me in this game and alot of the previous ones the game is one thing or another let me explain the last patch free kicks taking on players rounding the keepers were all to easy the new patch there non existent the old patch passing was to slow now its to fast old patch you was never offside new patch always of side its literally everything crossing taking ppl on which is now as bad as 2011 unless ur messi or ronaldo jamie carragher keeps up with you they just cant seem to find a happy medium also i dont no why you bother having positions or formations cause they never stay were u want them. the frustrating thing is i truly believe it is close to being the best pes yet but these idiotic decisions to change it so much means due to the patch your playing a diiferent game things i was good at last week no longer work and for me the game has lost its identity and i dont think konami no what they want.
lastly i just wanna say as pes fans we have to put up with a hell of alot with the game wrong team names wrong kits ridiculous stats for players (chicarito 74 wtf) no 2 v 2 on xbox running glitches shoddy keepers the lot i just wish konami was as commited as there fans are
