PES 2011 is one the worst football games ever created...

Hello, i've been a fan of PES for years, i love football and i found PES to be much better than any other similar game in the market. That was until i played PES 2011. I've been playing it for months now, and i can honestly say; i absolutely hate it! It is terrible. I could write a book on what i feel is wrong with the gameplay, i won't bore u by doing that so here are some of the main aspects i feel are drastically wrong with the game.

1) The players lack any AI, they are idiots. It feels like they are blind, they run away from the ball when defending, keepers punch the ball directly onto opposing player's feet. They are so stupid i don't even know where to start explaining it as there are so many examples of it.

2) Full of glitches & bugs, easy ways to score. One of the reasons i loved PES was because gameplay was free flowing, two goals scored were rarely similar as there were so many ways to score. On PES 11 anytime i play online, the opposing player runs to the byline, crosses the ball along the ground very fast, and the ball will either fly in off a defender or an opposing player will come charging in to score. I've played over 500 games online, i'd say 70% of goals i've conceded are by this way. Also when a through ball is played, defenders will take a step forward, allowing forwards to run in to score. It feels choreographed and predetermined, like most of the gameplay.

3)Someone at Konami should learn the offside rule: The offside rule in the game is laughable. The offside rule in football comes into force only when a player is active in play, ie if he doesn't touch the ball he's not offside. Many times i've attempted through balls, and say the ball is intercepted by a defender or reaches a player in an onside position, because there's a player standing in an offside position, it's called as offside. Although this player is not involved in play and hasn't touched the ball. It's ridiculous and frustrating. While it doesn't help that players will wander offside regularly, again this shows lack of AI, why would a fast player, ie messi, run offside when his speed can take him away from defenders?!

4) First time pass is almost impossible. I like to play quick short passing football, like i could on previous PES, however i when i press the short pass button, the player takes a touch to control it and by the time he has it under control the option is gone.

5)Players touch and control is disgraceful. Even the best players overhit the ball, underhit it, when i want to pass they're still trying to control it. When i'm defending a corner and i want to clear the ball, many times the player chests the ball and tries to volley it clear, despite the fact i'm pressing the button for header. It leads to the player being dispossessed a lot of the time.

I don't want to bore u with too much here so i'll give a rundown on the other points that i feel make this game awful.

6) Slow defenders catching speedy strikers, referees not playing advantage, boring replays for non important incidents, referees not sending players off for professional fouls. Defending at corners, goalkeepers don't come and punch or claim the ball, i can't control the defenders i wish. Against the computer the game is tedious, opposing players will constantly clear the ball despite being under no pressure. There is so much wrong with this game.

Some of the main criticisms PES through the years is the lack of licensed names and teams. However that never bother me, it was always about gameplay. As i've said, i loved PES for years, i'm not a big gamer, but i always bought PES. My friends preferred FIFA from EA, but i stuck by PES. Not anymore, i will never buy another PES game. PES 2011 is frustrating, tedious, at times sluggish, linear, feels predetermined. Basically it's absolutely terrible!

I agree with all your points and I too have switched to FIFA. But a tip from me would be to try both games and think for your self. PES 2012 looks promising and FIFA might improve. I'll try both games, probably buy both as well because my 400 pounds(EGP) won't make much of a difference in the millions they get so boycotting would be silly.

Hi, i have tried FIFA, not as extensively as PES. PES 2012 might look promising but i can't imagine they'll improve or restore it to the quality it once had, i just don't think komani understand football.

I'm not talking about boycotting, i just think PES 2011 is awful and wanted to get it off my chest. By the way, where does it cost 400 pounds for two games?! Ha, i think you're being ripped off haha....
