Now that is a review I hold more truck with, one of a respected member with a considerable PES knowledge (and the co-creator of one of the best OF's to ever grace the forums).

I'm with you on this one as well Fick. This site has dutifully prevented me from buying FIFA for two years from both the reveiws and the OFs and I thank everyone for that.

Without a doubt. I used to edit my own teams and leagues a few years back, even as far as 'patching' on the PS2 for early release Winning Elevens. Now though, I've been spared the time thanks to our truly amazing editors and option file makers, and it's really a thing of beauty. Especially when they come together to put their strengths into joint projects.

If everyone donated a pound or two towards the option file makers they downloaded from, the editors would be rich. Unfortunately we see it every year in that there's some jerks who take the option files and sell them on eBay for large profits despite not even making them.

It's so true.

Slightly off topic, but I still can't believe IGN gave Fifa a 9.5!! That pretty much means it's one of the best games this year. Better than Deus Ex, on par with Portal 2, better than LA Noire. Utter bull crap.

I don't think it's fair to compare FIFA to those games.

It's like comparing Buffon to Messi. Both brilliant players but clearly for different reasons.

I'm guessing it's got a 9.5 because it's being compared to other football games around.

I love the youtube comment under the review

''FIFA is for chavs and benefit cheats.''

how is fifa for benefit cheats? just shows how uneducated you are coming out with such verbal diarrhea, i know plenty of people who own fifa and are infact in full time work.

There's not many in employment that own FIFA. In fact a recent poll by MORI found that 93 per cent of Fifa owners were chavs or benefit cheats. In comparison, almost every one that owned PES either had a brilliant job, stunning girlfriend or generally kicked ass.

True that.

Looks like same shit.

Two lower tier english clubs and players have the ball glued to their feet like Barca players, and the shooting accuracy seems world class too.

THATS what makes this game awesome go to edit mode and change their ratings to what u believe is more realistic problem solved!

Maybe not 'paid off' in the sense most would assume, but just a pressure to stay on EAs good side in order to continue to receive free goodies and games weeks and months in advance I imagine. And let's not forget, who are they going to have reviewing the FIFA game? Someone who is a big FIFA fan most likely, and has been for many years so they can compare the intricacies of previous builds to the latest. Which ultimately means besides the pressure, there's likely to be some form of bias going on anyway, whether conscious or subconscious.

PES 2012 is surprisingly looking like quite a good game this year, and they seem to have sharpened up the gameplay from the several videos I've seen.

To be fair FIFA also got 9/10 on Eurogamer (both UK and Spain) and 9/10 on Videogamer. Both pretty reputable sites.

For the first time in a while both games look strong this year - that can only be good for everyone
