gonna come here and rant about speed merchant again, it is just retardedly overpowered..today i played this guy in mlo with a 700 rating.he had eto ronaldo and sanchez up front all on orange and red arrows...at first i thought he would have been an awesome player, but then he ended up being one of those speed merchant abusers, all he did was r1+r2 to run down the line and triple tap cross. I dominated the game but couldn't outscore him due the the amazingly efficient speed merchants, he had 4 shots and 3 of them went in, was absolutely raging after that game

I quit online after four games, all against Real as Liverpool.

You can only match them for so long, my opponent pressure abused al game with pressure and secondary, I didn't. I tried to play a possession game to tire his team out but lo and behold, come the 70th minute he was able to maintain his high pressure game whilst ALL my players were fked.

His philosophy was, guess what, give it to CR7. Pathetic.

There's simply no point in ranting and raving and getting mad though. Just pity them for playing this way.

I know how you guys feel....

Played a guy today that had Eto'o and Robinho and Autopass. As fast as he could just straight passes and through balls right down the middle of the field while my players just moved out of the way. I almost thought about asking him why would he play to abuse the game's flaws, but I let it go.

Was heated though.

i remember, in all the PES Winning ELeven i have ever played, there's allways runners, i used to have a friend that played with Brazil and i remembered his goals were always running with Roberto Carlos Crossing and Goal. No Football game will ever be free of this. You just have to figure it out. Man marking on the Runners is a big help

Respectfully, I think this is a PES problem. For years it's been the same thing. In the other game (even though for me it's worse), there are no 'forcefields', and there is real freedom. It is the game-killing bug for me and they can't or don't want to fix it.

i'm not complaining about runners, people are just stupid like that. what i'm complaining about here is the stupid speed merchant card which pretty much makes the player turn and accelerate 10 times faster

I think we have reviewed the major problems a good number of times over the last 9 pages so let me post a few of the minor ones that don't affect game play but listed just for fun

1) Still too many night games for EPL season mode; probably Serie A as well - although improved from last year's release.

2) The humorous - Rooney air hug where he is 3 yards away from his goal celebrating teammates while he patting the back of mr. invisible. His facial expressions with the backpatting makes it absoltuely ridiculous to look at. For some reason it is "super extra funny" that it was Rooney I saw doing it (red hair and all).

3) The horrible music

4) the poor rendition of cover boy Ronaldo blowing air while approaching the shot during the main menu. That is their cover boy they so poorly facsimilied. I am already sick of seeing that face.

5) man city, or probably any non-italian team playing in a default italian stadium with italian based chants overriding the default english chant atmosphere set in the edit menu.

i agree with the point ironcity said but when you said about the rooney air-hug, that is because of their rubbish collision systems that hands can't meet body's perfectly. This is perfect in fifa after they added the impact engine but pes added a new collision something which is a fail as when rooney hugs his teammates, he's hugging static and sometimes i see hands going thorugh players ribcage. i also see player's boots going fully thorugh the pitch which is so ridiculous especially in a year like 2011.

Also the collision between two players is always the same - if you see xavi and samba fall to the ground, they'll fall in the same way

I understand you're not, and I do know what you are talking about. Eto'o is running at 90 degree angles and not losing speed or strength.

I'm complaining about the runners, and ONLY because it can't be stopped.

I have been playing Fifa 12 recently and TBH, Impact engine is a joke. First of all certain collisions are rugby like, not football like. Others bend like crazy that in real life would result in broken bones.

BUT THE WORST OF THE ALL IS that 99.9% of air balls/crosses WILL ALWAYS END UP IN FAVOUR OF THE CPU. This is close to a gamebreaker for me.

I agree totally.

Played FIFA for a bit when it came out.....honestly what are you guys smoking when you go on about FIFA's impact engine and PES's. Even without my PES fanboy goggles on, I honestly think that PES's 'Impact Engine' is streets ahead of FIFA's, and they haven't even being working on it that much!!!!

If by 'Impact Engine' people are referring to the frankly comical animations after an impact then yes, it gets a ten out of ten, if however you're referring to what happens with regards to actual challenges etc then FIFA's is rubbish. How many free kicks do you get in FIFA? Some bloke said he played five games in a row the other day and there wasn't one free kick. Conversely, the feel in PES of doing a defender only for him to check your run and give away a foul is absolutely superb. Okay, so he may not do ten rolly polly's after it like in FIFA, but the actual collision detection is excellent, even though perhaps it hasn't quite the animations to match.

The amount of times I've bought free kicks with Adam's slight of foot, or sent Downing past an onrushing defender knowing that I had the angle and that the CPU body position wasn't quite right to get a free kick is excellent. Again, I go back to FIFA, there were times when I thought fk me, that was a definite free kick.

So to be honest, FIFA can keep it's 'IMPACT ENGINE (TM)', I'm more than happy with the PES close mechanics.

eto'o has been on red arrow for the past couple of days in MLO, every time i play other D1 players they all seem to have him and i end up having 2 players mark him, and he still runs away from me quite often..i was looking at other people with around the same win rate as me, seems like 95% of them are just speed merchant abusing wankers...and the way that konami made the form work this year is just fueling this stupidity...

IMPACT ENGINE IS GREAT. - in pes if you do a celebration and you fall on the floor head first, you'd automatically stand up. in fifa you'd get injured badly if you hit yourself so i'd have fifa's impact engine than pes collision system where players cant even touvh each other. sure fifa's isn't perfect but it is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more realistic than pes crappy default 'collision' system wheree everyone falls in the same way and you can't injure yourself in a celebration or goal like in real life. Pes probably made their engine in 1 hour which is wjhy it's so basic and static

^Proof that you are on something. Seriously, the animations are ahead of Pes no doubt and some collisions are yes. But this impact engine added a lot of rugby like collisions where if it would happen in reality, the player would end up in a broken arm. Watch some youtube videos and see what i am talking about. There are even Ju Jitsu moments where no FK will be given.

There are many times where it fails and get up to 3 players trembling onto each other like crazy and usually they are your players so that the CPU will take advantage. Seriously, I expected way more from the impact engine even though I wasn't looking forward to it.

i agree impact engine is a lot like rugby and can be messes up sometimes but still mostly collisions are real and people fall in different way depending on the player and the situation. but pes collision system is still behind and static but hopefully in pes 2013 they'll do something better

An entire system generation of games with players and balls on rails! Unbelievable...Couldn't even get ONE game with freedom on the PS3?

The entire crossing system is an absolute joke, no skill whatsoever; just wait for konami to decide who runs to it and who doesn't. I've seen people running toward the sideline full sprint only to SLIDE and whip a ball at 70mph in the opposite direction on a dime to his onrushing forward who predicted it would all happen.

Cursor switching is konamis way (well, another way) of letting people score. The right joystick option is as big a game of chance as anything else.

Assisted passes? You mean my defenders assist the pass by getting out of the way. Absolute rubbish. There should be no assisted pass in the game, period. At the very least, it has no place in online competitive matches. (My opinion only, I understand)

Superduperamazinglyunrealisticforcedandrammeddownyourpiehole--scripting. Which, combined with the cursor changing nonsense allows konami to gift your opponent a goal anytime it sees fit.

Poor effort...

For the inevitable intelligent replies:

1. Yes, FIFA is probably just as bad if not, worse.

2. My record online is 160w 94L, so I'm not getting my ass whooped all over the place.

manuel cross is l2 and cross but you only choose the accuracy, the cpu automatically choose the power and pace of the cross. It is useful but limits the freedom to play

FIFA gets better.
PES gets worse.

Even the biggest of us PES fan boys must accept that.

What happens once FIFA sorts its detection system out properly and its shooting out? Whilst PES makes it shooting into an abomination!

Evolve or die!

Therefore PES deserves to DIE!

To anyone who plays football. Try sprinting full speed with the ball, unless your fat and/or very slow, you will not be able to keep the ball close to you and if you try to change direction whilst at full pace either the ball will fly off and/or something in your legs will snap.

Now try running at full pace or even just fast and try to cross the ball and see what happens? I predict either you fall over and snap something or you scuff the ball pathetically and do a pea roller of a cross. Try using your wrong foot - if you can cross with you opposite foot, at full pace, then you really should be a footballer at the highest level.

Have you ever watched Walcott etc trying to cross at pace?

Anyway i think this is the least of PES's worries now.

Yes, well, you're not entirely wrong here. But PES does not get worse, and it is evolving. Not all evolution is positive though.

- I can run near full speed with the ball and do 25% turns, anything more than that will make me lose speed. I don't have brittle bone disease, however, like the person you're describing.

- I can cross at full speed, so can you unless you're vision impaired. Accuracy suffers, but about 6 of 10 is decent enough. And I don't fall, because I am actually able to twist my leg enough to cross, and then continue my run until I stop. Eye coordination is a nice car... no wait??

- I can use my left foot almost as good as the right foot. This is a result of inborn ability and training. A highly individual feature in other words. More speed results in lower accuracy, but it's still doable at full speed. I am also able to twist my left leg enough for a cross before continue running.

- Walcott is a poor example, because he is all pace and hardly no technique.

Speed Merchant is a bit over the top, but a decent or better defender controlled by a pretty decent human player can stop a Speed Merchant relatively easy in most cases. Poorer teams struggle against speed merchants, and the better the speed merchant, the harder it is. I personally struggle more against teams that use teamwork than individual skills. The same goes for human opponents.

Messi's performance in CL last night is a good example, he toyed with the defenders and should probably had 2-3 penalties during that game. That's why Speed Merchant is what it is in PES too. Maybe a bit too much, but I can clearly see the idea behind the ability.
