Fick I would normally agree with you but delaying by two weeks to sidestep FIFA is going to put PES 2012 in the UK in direct competition with Battlefield 3 and MW3, that's not a battle PES can win.

A very valid point. I would however argue that PES would still sell, simply due the anticipation that builds each year.

Look at PES 2009. 2008 was frankly abysmal, but people put aside their doubts and still bought the game in droves on release day. With the added hype for this year, I can easily see it being the case again. Only FIFA as a direct competitor would affect that.

I have no doubt the loyal fans will buy 2012, sadly the way FIFA and PES have been reviewed in recent years means the average console player will probably go for FIFA if they have never played either and the earlier release date of FIFA will only help them in that regard.

I suppose that long terms the only chance PES has of gaining more market share is to become the better game, and to get that message across clearly to the potential fan base. Sadly the habit in recent years for reviewers to play 30 minutes on a game and then base their review on the licences and how shiney the menu screens are does not help the cause of PES.

Look at 2011, MLO was by far and away the greatest improvement to either franchise in the last 10 years. I bet 90% of FIFA players have never heard of it and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of PES players haven't either. Konami not including the online component in the pre-release review copies they sent out was a massive mistake last year.

Now whether the reviews of FIFA always do so well because they pay for adverts on every review site and in every magazine is another question.

For the players that always buy PES the 2 weeks won't make a difference either way when deciding whether or not to buy. Yet for people like me that will definitely buy PES all it does it give everyone else a 2 week head start on MLO.

It's a minor irritation in the long run but it does annoy me, the whole point of MLO is a level playing field. IF MW3 came out and all the players in France had better guns and 2 weeks practice on the new maps there would be uproar everywhere else.

This is superb. The same day I come back from America, so I can pop right into Morrisons to buy it, and then play it when I get back. Doesn't get any more better than that, apart from the jet lag.

How about PES releasing a week or two EARLIER than FIFA?

Thinking about it, people would want their football fix ASAP and some FIFA fans may even pick this up to try it, with the initial thoughts of trading it back in when FIFA comes out, and then actually liking it and going "you know what I'll keep this!"

Sales would be through the roof.

I am currently killing time by playing Red Dead Redemption through again. Also been playing CODMW but found that quite overly hyped and disappointing. No football season and no PES is a killer.

I am shocked that neither will be released before the first fixtures. I would think this would be the strategy of any sports games.

The commercial reasons that have been highlighted are more than satisfactory to explain Konami's reasoning.

If both games are released simultaneously then given the current climate one title will have an initial shit release week, with gamers picking up the other title a few weeks later after a doubtless initial price drop.

Konami cannot hope to compete with FIFA's draw, especially after last year's improvements and that of the FIFA licensing. I'm not saying it's right, just that, that is the way it is.

With that in mind, releasing a couple of weeks later gives a greater scope for more week 1 sales (at full price, remember), maybe even at the expense of FIFA trade-ins...

What people seem to forget is that Konami don't make PES just for fans, their primary concern is financial success. If their release strategy is wrong and sales don't generate a required revenue, then PES may not be around next year.

Thats the reason but people tend not to listen to sense, my question is why not avoid fifa by releasing even earlier, a one week adavantage on fifa could set them back a bit, i wouldnt worry about a pes missing sales in one year, it would take more than that to set a company back, especially one of the biggest in game production.. If they released earlier its not going to stop people buying the game but will give people the choice to wait or just take a gamble on PES...as it is they lose out on sales to fifa because they never ship enough copies in the longterm, twice my disk has broken over two years and i have gone back to get a new copy and couldn't.... Anyway little off topic there but why sit back and allow fifa the advantage especially as the games market becomes more competitive as the year goes with COD, Battlefield and possibly even Metal Gear Solid before christmas...

Will it be the same kind of time frame with regards the demo? Releasing it for download 2 weeks later in UK? Surely not, I hope not!!

Release date in Holland is also 14th October.

Does anyone know the release dates in other countries besides the ones mentioned in the other thread? (France, Germany, Spain, etc) Just wondering if Scandinavian/Eastern European countries also have to wait 2 weeks.

Release date in Germany is the 29th of September (same as Fifa 12). I guess in the Netherlands You'll get the 'UK' version of the game, that's why it's out later?

Hello, PES fans

Actually, this long waiting for the final product release is bothering me,
i dont worry that much about some negative comments about pes 2012
demo, because it is still demo, i will see if pes 2012 is great or poor when i have the final product at hand, but one thing is for sure, i will
definatelly check out different reviews and pes fans assessment for the
game before i spend 60 dollars. I will give FIFA 12 a go to keep me occupied before i get pes 2012, hopefully PES 2012 is better than FIFA 12, anyway i will play both FIFA 12 and PES 2012, although only one
of them will remain in my ps3.

please, KONAMI in pes 2012, get rid of excessive through ball passes,
cursor switching bug, player's foul replays and messed up transfers in MasterLeague(Messi going to R.Madrid). For me, sorting these things out is more important than any "improvements" implemented by KONAMI
Maybe erasing all the old problems and bugs is the biggest improvement
in my opinion.

I ll try to be patient and wait untill the long waiting is over.

I just heard that SeabASS after reading your post here assembeled his team. They are now giving the gameplay an total overhaul. The game will be totally different from the demo version released 10 days ago.

Thanks for telling SeabASS.
