PES-2017 for its “Adaptive Ai and Natural Player Movement” Feedback?

Hi folks,

I’m now considering buying PES-2017 for its “Adaptive Ai and Natural Player Movement”, as it fits more of what I want in tactical player considering on Konami webpage it discusses the below quotations.

How true are those statements considering there was no PC Demo to try, I would like some feedback to determine whether or not to buy or are there problems (Bugs and Glitches) in the A.i code needing patching.

PES-2017 GAMEPLAY

Adaptive AI

For the first time in a football game, the AI will learn how you play, listen to your strategy plans, follow your Advanced Instructions, and change their tactics accordingly! Pass to a star player often? The opposition will double up on him and mark heavily. Like to constantly play down the wings? Players will cover their fullbacks to make you think twice! The AI will also adapt its attacking tactics, so if you are intercepting the opposition's long passes they will change to a short passing game! Player and team behavior has always been a staple of the PES series, and for PES 2017 Adaptive AI will change sports games forever.

Natural Player Movement

New features such as Real Touch and Precise Pass see huge benefit as hundreds of new animations have been added, giving a vast array of movements when trapping and passing the ball. The player interactions (collisions) are also further developed with player individuality clearly represented in detailed movement (e.g. Giroud strong in physicality, Özil strong in balance). The representation for balance in the body when being physically challenged is strongly supported through the 2 new parameters.

pes 16 is better IMO. this game is garbage, passing is crap and the script is fucking awful. AI does not adapt, your AI gets switched off.

Disagree. Gameplay is essentially the same as 16 except for one or two minor tweaks. No way is 16 better. The improvement on Goalkeepers alone makes it a much better football game. It's literally taken Konami 20 years to get that right and they are a lot better. Not great. But noticeably better.

Perhaps you're having an emotionally bad time with the game at the moment and feel scripted on higher difficulties, which is effecting your outlook on the game? The truth is its not a bad game at all. In fact its very good in terms of its representation of football. Especially when compared with FIFA. At least it looks life-like.

Truth is all modern games cheat you on higher difficulties. Developers take a short cut, instead of working on each difficulty and making it balanced, the more you turn it up, the more they tune it so you're capable of less and the CPU is capable of more. Unrealistically more in most circumstances. Rather than increasing the CPU difficulty, they limit the player also. Its the cheap way out and its been like it for years. The more you turn it up, the more that gap in CPU/player capability opens up. Only way around it is to accept that fact and play on a lower setting. Usually medium is the sweetspot. Playing on anything over that is a joke and not fun. It will frustrate you and ruin your experience over time.

Same happens with FIFA. In fact 100× more so. Anything over professional and you're going to be restricted all the time. Even professional has its rough moments also.

Agghh Disappointed!

Hi guys thanks for replies.

Well that’s so disappointing so the game play is still fake and a rip-off of a game just like EA FIFA.

I think they all work together ………… the Formula for “Fail Development” is ……….

PES 1/4 + FIFA 1/4 = 1/2

The Development Fail Rate Sum is 1/2 and equal to 50% Development Incompetence!

I mean did they think Gamers won’t find out, they might think we are stupid but really they are proving they are incompetent and simply cant code a Dynamic A.i Code to a mature standard and whats worse for these illiterate programmers that attempt this nonsense is that they lie with all this “Adaptive A.i” marketing nonsense.

I mean look at this ridiculous attempt to what is coding skills today …………….

https://youtu.be/4mmpFf4g_E4

https://youtu.be/cbql5SC0l_k

I know what scripting is especially using the LUA method of scripting missions files for flight sims that I enjoy, but to make or falsely advertise that your code is superior and the A.i will out smart your pattern of play.

Is laughable to say the least all this because of gross incompetence of programming skills………………….

Just more of this then …....… Just Look.........

Although PES-2017 is still better only for price and on that alone I might still buy it for some fun................ http://store.steampowered.com/app/456610/

I wont buy FIFA-RIPOFF-MERCHANT! :no::realmad:

EAGAMES wants FIFA-2017+Packs for $120AUD Pfft that is a fat cash cow, better just get PES-2017 knowing what your getting for $40AUD

People just don't know what good game development is anymore! Sad really sad!

Thanks anyway,

Cheers,

The game is a lot more of a challenge this year AI way more adaptive to your attacking. This will be a contributing factor to people claiming its shit, scripted and worse than last years, roughly translated as "i cant win easily".

Like I said developers are taking a shortcut in making games a challenge. Years ago if you played a game on hard, lets take football games as an example, if you played on hard difficulty CPU provided a tougher challenge, however you were not effected as a player in any way. You could play as normal with no rubberbanding, DDA, scripting or button lag. If you played better than the CPU, you won. All football games from 09 onwards changed the way difficulty works. Instead of the CPU just becoming harder to increase "challenge" for the player, they actually restrict how the player can play also. Its a combination of both. This is where scripting, momentum, rubberbanding etc comes from. It stems from the fact that the game limits and restricts the player to give CPU advantage. Online is a different beast, it happens here to stop skilled players from winning every game, thus they keep coming back for more to chase the next win and rectify the last loss to scripting. Its designed to keep you hooked. For some people that system works, theyll keep coming back for more. Others though see through the bullshit, get frustrated and stop playing games they know they are being restricted on.

Finding ways around and to beat the script are getting less and less as the AI in games improve.

Erm I rate the game? Quite highly in fact. Best football game I've played since FIFA 08 next-gen and PES 5/6 before that.

Okay so enjoy it look for the positives of which their are many in this years game, the scripting is there we all know it is as is true with most games it doesn't mean you cant work your way round it.

The Adaptive AI is actually real and massive.

Teams will tightly mark key players if they are playing well. Move their defense to the wings if you're attacking down the flank and try to hit you on the counter if you're keeping possession.

I'm actually shocked at how well it's implemented and how hard the games has become as a result. I'm constantly changing tactics mid-game.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. I rate 2017. Its really really good. Most of todays games suffer from the same high difficulty imbalance. However as games improve on AI, the ways around it are becoming less and less possible. Few years back you could find a way to beat it, now thats getting harder and harder to do with CPU AI improving to the point where you get more of a challenge against the CPU than a human player, because CPU can be coded to make effectively zero mistakes. Which is unrealistic to the sport these football games are trying to emulate.

My point is, the way around it today is to lower the difficulty. Enjoyment and challenge can still be had at medium difficulty without using sliders that break the game. Sliders are a cop-out by developers. Anything higher than that and in most games you will be restricted and penalized to make it seem like you're playing on harder settings. When in reality its far from the truth.

Most gamers suffer from foolish pride. They dont want to lower the difficulty. Thats the issue really.

I think i probably did i first thought your issue was with the scripting. Apologies for that and i agree with you its about finding the difficulty setting that suits you, for me i started at Top Player and after plenty of games i am now ready to move it up to Superstar.
