  • collar models changed
  • shirt sleeves and shorts resized
  • short sleeve cuffs raised up
  • sock front and back squished together
From a distance it looks like not many changes have been made, its only when working up close the problems become noticeable. a new 3D model will need to be created in order to make kits look 100% perfect.

Do you think that converting the 2016/17 pngs will take too much? Obviously the collar would be the major issue I'd guess.

If the kits are relatively easy to update, then we'll still have most of the back catalogue created to use - meaning most 2017/18 season kits for at least the bigger clubs have already been done.

Its time consuming and possible to convert. but if you had a shirt design thats connected to a collar like the Barca pic i have posted or sleeve design it would need redone to fit. its not the end of the world just a pain.

I just dont get why they make changes like this, its so minute and seemingly insignificant but it discards 2+ years of kit making for people just to squish socks, shorten sleeves and change the collar!? So frustrating when you've gathered a collection of 400+ classic kits and theyre nearly all redundant now:angry:

No it's not. It's a technical necessity because they updated their kit textures to the current standard of tighter jerseys. You can't simply click a button called "make kits tight like in real life" and expect your image resources to adapt automatically.

It was necessary because they updated their older jersey textures to the tighter fit of most football jerseys. If anyone is to blame, blame Adidas and Nike ;D

You can also modify your classic kits in order to use them in PES 2018 by editing the socks and sleeves. It's not something impossible to do. Get GIMP, learn to do a bit of image editing, and there you go. No rocket science involved ;D

I've used PESMaster for the base of some kits, I'm just not sure how to use GIMP with the very fine details and stuff. Do you guys have any links for a tutorial in English?

When I started doing kits about 7-8 months ago, I also didn't know much about doing these details (I use paint. net btw, it's a good software). I didn't watch any tutorials, I started using it, knowing the tools and once I got the hang of it I started moving on to more complex stuff, and it wasn't that hard.

Also, it will be easier to do the kits when a 3d blender kit model is out, because you will be able to do the kits and see them on your pc and check if the position of the stuff is right.

I'm sure that a tutorial won't cover everything you want to do. Once you get used to your tools, you'll know how to deal with any situation. ;) At the beginning, it's mostly try and error, but after you do your first kits you'll start getting used with the positioning of the stuff (logos, stripes, etc.). Believe me, it's all practice

Also, PESMaster kit creator is very good, specially now that it got updated. It can be very useful.

If you need help with anything specific tell me and I'll see if I can do something ;)

First of all, thanks for your offer of help! I've been tip-toeing around editing kits for a while now but never fully tried it so i think this is the year I'll have a decent go!

The template offered by Pesmaster helps i usually just separate the shorts, sleeves, socks and kit with different colors and then open a PES 2017 kit in Paint and color grab! then i copy and paste it to the 2018 image and go from there. So the basics of color and kit style I have managed to do. I'll show you for example.

The base is there for the most part but i haven't figured out how to do the fine details like the threading and stuff that's usually much the same color as the kit, which youll find in this image someone else has done

https://imgur.com/cuX3Nuf

I dont know if ive explained that properly but its basically the trim and small lining of the kit?
*I tried attaching the images but it didnt seem to work so i just copied a link to them :)*

I think I understood. Usually I don't do that too. However, if you want to do it, maybe there's a template or something. I will try to figure it out and then I'll tell you ;)

Maybe it's somthing like this that you want?

I extracted this from an old nike kit template and I edited it. I am not a pro in this stuff, but I think you can put add a layer on whatever program you use to edit the kits and then overlap.

Btw, the Paint that comes with your windows computer isn't good for kit editing. I would change to something more powerful, where you can work with layers and more powerful tools. I recommend paint.net, it's not hard to use and it can be as good as photoshop. You just need to get used to it's tools. If you want, I can also recommend you a few plugins for it that will help in kit editing. And, the best of all, it's free. You can get it here: www.getpaint.net

Of course, there are other good alternatives, such as GIMP, but I am more familiarized with Paint.net and I would be able to help you if you edited in there.
