i've been going on about this for ages but no one seemed to care! its such a joke init!!!! it looks fine on some stadiums, but play at old trafford or highbury and it looks stupid. talk about a way to ruin the atmosphere, something pro is already lacking in. they're starting to piss me off now, as far as i'm concerned they're making half a game (at least they make the better of the two, the gameplay) because they dont even bother with the presentation, music (which is worse than ever this year) and now cant even put in a crowd. piss take.

Do one of the following:-

1. Have Slow jerky gameplay, which could ruin the enjoyment even more and have your crowd.
2. Live without the crowd
3. Get the PC version!! - PES4 was best on the PC nothing beats resolutions as high as 1280x1024 with all the graphicial details(anti alias etc), I do believe the PS2 runs at a native resolution of 640x480. Gulp! and its still struggling, perhaps if they shoved a better graphics card.
4. Try the xbox version(you could probably buy a setup for under £100)

and most of all, stop whinging!

i think we have a right to be whinging! we'll be forking out up tp £40 for this game and its, in my oppinion, not acceptable for any football game to be missing a crowd. fifa 94 had a crowd. why doesnt pro evo 5?

get off your high horse, some of us can't afford a PC that will handle it, and certainly not pay to have it upgraded with every new game that comes out. I'm happy with the ps2 and PES 4 seemed to do just fine with a crowd in there.....

If you had to write code using the PS2 SDK and using the PS2 hardware, what do you expect? - there comes a point when a limitation will be hit when the program becomes more intensive. The programmers were clever enough to only use the crowd when necessary. Well if your feel ripped off after playing the game - take it back, get a refund. Get some better hardware.

The PC version of PES4 was so damn good, and we a mountain of updates and patches. Look like I'll being buying that next week.

I thought my suggestions were quite helpful, if this is considered to be worthy of "get off your high horse". Then obviously you will need to point out where you would consider my tone not to be appropriate.

did you read where I put that PES 4 runs fine WITH A CROWD? There's no reason PES 5 shouldn't have one as the graphics are exactly the same as in 4

i'm sorry mate, but there wasnt a problem with pes4 having a crowd, nor any other football game out there, i dont see that pes5 is so technologically advanced that the ps2 cant hadle it. thats just stupid, and as for getting "better hardware" theres nothing wrong with the ps2 thanks and games companies have survived very well using its hardware and bare in mind pes is a PS2 GAME and all other versions are a PORT!

Well, you have forced me to entertain your thoughts in more depth.

Have you considered that the game may have been substantial re-developed. Perhaps you might consider OpenGL has a performance trade off on increasing certain aspects of the graphical details (Z-buffering, anti-alias,Texture filtering,32bit depth coloring etc). Maybe more CPU intensive operations is in this version has had an impact on performance.

So while you sit there smiling at how realistic Henry looks, perhaps you should understand game development a little more and leave the professionals to make necessary decisions into improving the game experience, I'm certainly trusting them as I have no choice. I've already parted with my cash and looks like you have. ;)

If you knew exactly what a port required, its not necessarily a bad thing. It just depends on how well the original core code was programmed. I'm pretty sure modern PC Processors architecture is quite different from the ps2 so I imagine it has been programmed well.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about this "lack of crowd" thing? The only thing I look at when I'm playing PES is the pitch

yeah probably... you don't think that its a stupid thing not to put in the game when you can hear thousands of fans and then all of a sudden they appear when there is a camera change?

What pees me off is the fact that Konami charge £5.00 more for the Xbox version cause of the superior hardware etc and there is still no crowd!!!!!

well i know i'm listening to you and i definately agree with you, i think this whole crowd thing is a bit of a joke. the game still plays great i have to say however, getting to grips with it now and loving it. would just love it that bit more if the crowd was there

I dunno I think it could be a problem with the programming rather than the current hardware. I mean think about how much detail Fifa games has? richer detailed graphics, better crowd and sound, and plays fluid. Don't get why PES suffers from hardware constraints when obviously Fifa runs quite well.

Funilly enough at uni today, we were learning a game authoring programme called virtools and we learnt that you can block of certain details on certain cameras for instance the crowd in PES. You do this for preview purposes to make rendering quicker however if you forget to change the programming back... it will stay like that. This would explain why it only happens on certain camera views...

Yeah it seems its something like that. Do you think this was to enable better online play? Cos I imagine playing a game in the wide view whilst playing on a connection may cause more slowdown? so perhaps when they tested it on a live server, may have reduced slow downs by killing the crowd in certain situations?

well maybe they should have turned off crowds just for online purposes and not in the rest of the game...

no fans

yes i was playing pe5 and when you play the game their is no fans at the far side of the pitch, but when the ball goes out, they are there, i think they made it wrong.
