PES is dying

I feel everyones pain with PES 2014, never in my life have I bought a PES game and traded it in WITHIN a week! It was so terrible, I was actually fuming that I was pretty much conned into buying what turned out to be worse than a BETA! I play PES 2013 a lot still - I cannot get it into my head how konami can have a decent game like that and then totally destroy it?? PES 5 is absolutely class and timeless. Extremely sad to see the series decline so much, just as I thought things were looking up again! I bought Fifa 14 as I needed a new football fix but got rid of that after a month or so as I couldnt tolerate it. Come on Konami get back to the drawing board and realise all the good stuff youve thrown in the bin!

PES 2014 is crap, I have it on PC, runs nice and smooth but the collision detection and other problems just makes it unplayable. Each patch has done nothing.

To be fair I think the new FIFA is even worse, what a pile of shit that game is, played it this weekend at my mates, they all love it but it feels so arcade like its unreal. At least PES is trying to look real! In doing so the gameplay is unfun though.

First time since 96 ive not played a football game. Shit :(

Indeed....the only thing that makes PES 2014 look good is the fact that FIFA 14 is even worse (at least on the PC).

If EA made a decent game I'd switch in a second - just like I switched from FIFA to PES some 5 years ago, just like a switched to FIFA some 12 years ago and just like a switched from FIFA to ISS some 17 years ago.

I agree both games are rubbish this year. I really liked 2013 but it was looking a bit old on the engine. I think Konami tried to use the new Fox Engine but they obviously did not have enough time to perfect it.

There is a rumor that PES sales have been terrible this year. Judging by the response of their marketing guy Adam on twitter, he doesnt want to hear that the game has flaws, as far as he is concerned its the best football game ever! This is really disappointing as it doesn't look like we will get through to them with not buying the game. Think they have a chip on their shoulder that FIFA has all the marketing and thats why no one is buying PES. While that's always been a big reason, the main reason is that PES IS SHIT THIS YEAR!

I even would go as far as to say this is worse than the 2008 mess of a game.

IF YOU CANT FINISH A GAME, DONT SELL IT!

Its false advertising. Was nice how they also decided to rub it in our faces by breaking the free kick and corner system by adding FIFA 2003 comedy arrows... I'm still angry.

I disagree with that entirely, I believe that is the only way we will get through to Konami. I mean what is the alternative? Keep buying shit games in the hope they make it better out of kindness?

We've tried to politely (OK, sometimes not very politely :innocent:) tell Konami what the problems with PES are for years. How long have we been asking for a Master League revamp for example? They simply dont listen to their loyal fans. They believe, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, that they and they alone know what is best for PES. If we continue to buy their product we are only reinforcing that belief.

Konami employ shameless cheerleaders like Adam to promote the game endlessly and ignore or scoff at reports the game is deeply flawed. I dont blame Adam for this really, he works in marketing after all and truth or honesty from a marketing person is as rare as rocking horse shit.

I know that by boycotting PES there is a risk it may cease to exist altogether but surely Konami know they have a potential gold mine on their hands if they can get it right? There only are two football games on the market so they only have to beat ONE competitor to be top dog! What company on earth wouldn't like those odds?

Unfortunately, for me anyway, the only way to make them listen to us is to stop buying any old crap they churn out. If they dont take PES seriously why should we?

Well people have not bought the game as much this time, so we shall see if they have responded and if 2015 is worth it or not.

Ive struggled this year without a football game, tried pes again yesterday on PS4 and its not improved and feels awful. Tried FIFA on X1 and its a lot more playable so im going to get world cup to tie me over to October.

Great news for those who did not purchase PES2014!

PES2014 is now free for download on PlayStation Plus for PS3.

Also, I think is a bit lame at this point to keep comparing PES to EA Fifa.

PES is not dying.....its dead!

Fifa lives on as the only playable footie game on the market today.

Suck it ...Haters.....:realmad:

I just got into PES myself, and after comparing the demos between FIFA and PES, I have come to this conclusion:

FIFA may have all the licenses, but PES has the gameplay. It's more realistic, slower, and it feels like it requires skill. I think the future is bright with all the awesome tech in the PS4 and all the stuff they did with the FOX Engine in PES 2014 will all of a sudden make sense. It's an undeniable fact that FIFA's gameplay is GREAT on PS4, even if thru balls are still a bit too magical.

I have a feeling PES will always be a niche game here in the USA, but those that can get past the lack of international licenses will find an awesome game. I'm truly excited for PES 2014 on PS4. Even if you think I'm being idealistic, I'm just trying to think of the glass as half full. ^_^

FIFA is horse shit. I'd play it in the arcade but that's about it. Played it a few times recently and its rubbish.

PES is broken, so Its hard to tell if its good or not. Once it hits next gen it will determine whether the series dies out or gets a new lease of life.

Although I take in to consideration your points, the PES v FIFA argument is over, there's no argument there any more. FIFA now out sells PES 25:1. And the 1 in 25 who bought PES are arguing amongst ourselves about how bad PES 14 really is.

Fact is, FIFA gives you a solid football game that you can play online or offline, that's all an average gamer wants. PES doesn't even come close to satisfying that simple requirement.

Konami have destroyed PES.

Looks like Winning Eleven 14 isn't going down much better in Japan:

325 reviews, over half of them 1 out of 5 stars. They're leaking customers left, right and centre.

It´s not like FIFA is doing better on Amazon...
And even if PES is dying that doesn`t make FIFA the better game, just the one that sells more. Like you said it a nice little game everyone can pick up and play.

Actually you'll find PES has lower average ratings, and also far less fewer ratings too. You're talking to someone that doesn't actually play FIFA, I'm playing PES 13 right this moment.

I never once said FIFA 14 was a better game (although I can safely say it's a better game all round than PES 14, that's for sure).

With millions of fans enjoying Fifa 14 on both PS3 and PS4 both online and offline, I cannot see how anyone can say that the game is not doing well. A third or more of Fifa's community were actually PES fans (like myself).

Fifa still has its problems but it can be played without any major flaws.
For me Fifa is the way forward.

Why would anyone buy Konami's first try at a next console with PES.

They still have not been able to produce not even one decent release on the current gen ...(since 2008).

I refuse to be a guinea pig for Konami.

Have you even seen FIFA on next gen? For example compare animations (pay close attention to the point where one ends and the other begins, you can see it real good) or player faces. If that is next gen they have just been beaten by the old. The question is whos guinea pig you are now.

PES is DEAD - at least for me!! It's died when PES 2012 was released and it's a shame that they didn't rename title after PES 2011!!

I don't know why FIFA in this thread is mentioned so much, but... FIFA was never even alive, at least for me!!

Even the one star review at Amazon doesn`t consider FIFA a choice...

kn23m brings up the best point, we all want different things from football games, he likes Pes11 best, other FIFA, other PES13 and if you look at the poll on this site most them to be ok with PES14.

For me I want a football simulation and that is (or was before the last patch) PES14. Pes 14 was the closest to real football we ever had.

Players turning slow? GREAT! now I can make small dribblings and if I want to go faster I can also do if I know how. Difficult distance shoots and headers? Even better - no easy cheap goals and again you can do if you know how. Why pick up a game where is nothing to learn? PES14 had it all you just have to invest sometime to get it right. Oh and I m´m talking about the Xbox 360 version 1.07

Look at this video and say it isn`t the best

MC Gork, you say that you are looking for football simulation and then you present a video which don't show a simulation at all - some stupid tricks from FIFA streets, unrealistic goals who could be seen couple times a season at best and that you call a football simulation??

I was high on PES in old gen, but now when I got my hands on PES 4 (till then my first and best PES was PES 5), I realized that this series was always like this - Konami have always made one step forward and at least one step back!! PES 4 have better animation for passing and headers (maybe dribbling, but I am not sure about it) and better passing for sure, so why they fucked up it in PES 5, while made shooting better, especially from outside the box?!? In my opinion, PES 5 is still the best, but after playing PES 4 I come to conclusion that it's not the ultimate game and could have been WAY better if Konami would't had their stupid policy that we should improve game in one area and fuck up it in other!!
