PES2008 Barcelona Formation Help

Had the teams updated, switched players here and there and i play the default 4-3-3 formation with:

---------------------Valdez
-------------Alves - Milito - Puyol - Abidal
--------------------Toure/Marquez
--------------Iniesta/Gudi
--------------------------Xavi/Hleb
-----------Messi----------------Henry
------------------------Eto

For some reason, i keep losing against Chelsea when my friend plays a 4-1-3-2 formation. And most of the goals comes from headers. I admit that Dani Alves isn't that good in the game specially in defense.

Can someone please help?
Would it be wise to manmark alves with someone? should i use Gudjonsen and hleb since they have bigger bodies?


P.S: I like to play possession football, i like to keep the ball with me, this makes the opponent more nervous .. I use the Pressing Strategy along the game. I use the strategy of 4-1-1-4 when i really need to score and it works but i can't play it for the rest of the game. I also try using 3-1-3-3 as a second strategy formation. Anyhow, but with teams like Chelsea, my midfields of Iniesta and Xavi can't stand the big bodies of Ballack and Lampard. How come i win over a 4-1-3-2 formation?

put Henry down the middle and put hleb/bojan on the left then xavi as center mid and iniesta as attacking and Puyol as left back and bring in Careces as defender


So it should look some thing like this

Puyol plays in center back, not OUTSIDE!!

I was using Barcelona in my Master League at one point, I kept the standard 4-3-3 formation, but changed one of the three SS to CF, where I put Thierry Henry. I then had Messi on the left and Bojan on the right, then Iniesta as the attacking mid, Xavi as DMF and Yaya Toure as CMF. I left the defence as was originally, you can do whatever with that, but using Henry as CF rather than SS will give you a target man to aim for with crosses, etc.

True but playin messi on the right and bojan on the left will give you options to cut in and take shots

I won't let play any of these players frequently because of their low attributes in PES 2008 on the PS2 ..

I play Bojan on the right and Keita in center mid wven though i prefer iniesta, yaya, and xavi...and with Caceres i prefer to play him in te center defence with milito and puyol at left back...but with eto'o i play him as a sub for henry

Nice one ... but don't you think Bojan and Keita are so weak in terms of attributes in PES2008? Honestly Speaking, i don't play with them so much due to their weaknesses in the game specially when putting Bojan in the right while trying to cut inside and score a goal. It will take you ages to beat the chelsea defense !

puyol has een used as a right back from time to time, he did when barca played against us in last years champions league as zambrotta was injured and they played thuram and marquez at centre half

Yes Xavi10 I also use the same formation as you and once the game is won i play this formation. It always gets me one or two more goals as the opposition presses forward.
