Easily. PES 5 and 6 are overated and overhyped. Yes, they were good for their time but only because FIFA was pure trash. Nowadays PES has had to up its game and it has, especially this year since FIFA is a good football game. PES 2011 is the best PES to date as is FIFA 11. I think PES has the edge this year because of the passing, you can do so much more on PES.

Agree with you. Pes 5 and 6 were very good when they came out. It´s a case of nostalgia. "The grass was greener when I was young" my grandfather used to say :)

The demo is the best i've played I like the new passing and style of play. Plus the graphics are easily the best i've ever seen in a football computer game BUT I will not vote on it being the best ever until I play the game for atleast a few days.

Technically it will be the best ever as the game does improve everytime it comes out, sometimes not as improved as people want or expect but it's always better than before. But I get what you mean, is it really great or are we still on the road to greatness...

I dunno if it´s the best one ever... it´s hard to compare to previous versions (pes 5/6) and tell which is better. For their time they were the best ones.
Pes2011 is great and I enjoy it as much as I did with pes5/6.. :D

I was playing this last weekend and had a blast. At first I wasn´t too happy about the Libertadores teams not being playable outside their own mode, but I´m having a lot of fun playing it.
It´s fun, and it´s hard enough for being so rewardable to score or win a game.
It´s nice to see how the tactics and positioning work so well... Passing is great but sometimes I still have some trouble shooting. I didn´t find penalty kicks so hard, it takes a bit of training but it isn´t that hard.

I don´t know if it´s coincidence, but I was playing the Copa Libertadores mode, and there was a big difference on the players´ motivation (the arrows that affects the stats) when playing home or away.
Most of my players were arrow down or normal when playing away, I had to arrange my team to play on defence and trying a few opportunities up in front. But playing home I could attack more, the players were arrow up or so.... as I said, I´m not sure if this was just coincidence (it happened a lot though) but if not it´s a thumbs up to Konami from me.

The AI is better (specially attacking) and I´m finding way harder to get the ball from the opposite players... every game is different and that´s I love about PES (and it was lacking from the 2008-2010 games)...

I can say PES 2011 has brought back the fun, satisfaction and challenge the old PES used to have...

Winning Eleven 10 for the PS2 was the best in the Konami series .. I think WE10 was the Japanese equivalent of PES5. Nothing has come close to that eversince.

Give me a WE10/PES5 with PS3/360 graphics, put the 360 movement with updated rosters and a stadium edit mode and I would never ask for another new game again. Just keep releasing updates for it with new rosters after every transfer period is up and its ON!

Konami should release their old PS2 games in the PSstore and the Xbox Marketplace with HD graphics as "classic" games.

I agree with you on that, i loved that game....the fact you could mix and match the shorts/socks/shirts was wicked too!

I think for its time it's hard to look past PES3 as the best ever, maybe even the best football game ever, full stop. Back then it was a complete revelation.

PES2011 though is defenately the best PES of the 21st century. Knowing Konami, this is also probably as good as it will get this century as well

I fondly remember PES3 too, old baldy Colina on the front....i remember buying that on a thursday at the big HMV shop on oxford street (a day before release) and with it, i bought a disc that had all the official kits and proper names etc, a sort of option file on a dvd, and it had a proper PES cover and everything!! aahhh, memories!

Same situation with PES5 for me I was made up when I heard that HMV were selling it early. :p

I'm sorry ppl but no version of Pro on PS3 is fit to lace the boots of any of the PS2 versions. It would utter madness to suggest that they are anyhting more than very very very poor imitations of what was once the greatest footy game.

In fact, even all the ps1 versions of pro are way better than any of the ps3 crap. That's no joke, the playability on those is legendary compared to ps3 tripe.

This is exactly what i feel about ps3 pes games, i dont think alot of people are smart enough to realize that the gameplay in PlayStation one games is much more solid and fun

Even on their own the PS3 games are avergae at best. When Konami moved Pro from PS1 to PS2 they kept all its magic and improved on it but even to this day you can play a PS1 version of Pro and still have a good time playing it, that's how great the gameplay is. I have played the demo of the new one over and over, the more I play the worse it seems although its a far better attempt than previous ps3 versions. But that, really say nothing at all.

It baflfles me to think about what the hell Seasbass and his boys are doing. How can they not see and feel the crap they are making. Have they forgotten what made the game great in the first place? I'm just happy that i still have the PS2 version to fall back on, but I fear this may be the last year we see Pro on PS2.

I think its the best on next gen. but the best imo was PES 5... 2012 will be the game we've been waiting for because they have changed 2011 so much that it will obviously have problems. at least konami are working hard unlike EA with fifa that has been very similar for the last 4 years but still has problems

I have a feeling this may be as good as PES gets, hope I'm wrong, because they have the foundation for a great future with 2011, but I have learned you can never underestimate Konami's ability to make a complete hash of something. PES 2008-2010 have made me so jaded.:realmad:

ISS PES 4 was my best experience with PES. Then after that, my worst experience was with PES8, since then I didnt bought any PES till PES11, because it's simpley stunning!

EDIT: I would say Konami needs to put back ISS in the title and remove the "famous" player(s) on the cover. PES was all about gameplay, not about licenses and "famous" player(s) on the cover.

Just a ball, and a foot. That's all, haha. It would be interesting if someone had the covers of the PES series, how they changed through the years.

Voted "Yes", started PES at PES6 on 360 [sorry! lol] which i loved, since then iv played every PES since despite some serious flaws in the games and i could never get on with Fifa [for me lacked any kind of fun & excitement - Souless is the word!]

Anyways, when PES2011's new features were announced [360 passing, drop n drag tactics, combo skills etc] i just knew it was the way forward, when the demo came out i dont think i'v played a demo so much before, at first it was abit strange but soon everything fell into place leaving me with my vote of "yes".

Whilst some may say its not fair as i'v not played the earlier ISS n PES games, my vote is purely based on "my" timeline with PES. :)

Best on PS1 = International Superstar Soccer Pro Evolution 2

Best on PS2 = PES5

Best on PS3??? I don't think that we're quite there yet with PES2011, but not far off. It's certainly the best pro evo for a good number of years.

The games on PS1, from ISS Pro 98 through to ISSPE2, were simply incredible. The graphics, sound, and presentation were poor at best, but the gameplay was simply streets ahead of anything else.

PES1 was a great game too, even though it was just ISSPE2 with better graphics. FIFA 2002 on the otherhand, which was released just before, was absolutely dreadful in comparison.

Agreed this second one was pretty astonishing. I remember playing it on the day it was released and thinking how on the earth have Konami improved on perfection.

Best on PS2 = PES5 - I think all the PS2 version were pretty good but Pes1 & 2 started to look dated when 3,4 & 5 had come around. The best comes down to personal taste although Pro Evo 3 and 5 stick out for me.

Nowhere near there, while 2011 is better than all the other crap that we have seen before it, it is being measured against incarnations of pro evo that aren't even suitable to be a dog's dinner, woeful in every sense. Pro evo 2011 is a turn in the right direction and nothing more but the player movement, shooting even the nets are all a considerable way away from where they need to be and once they get rectified then the game will begin to resemble the legend it once was.

Yep, for sure, the gameplay on these was so jawdroppingly amazing that the graphics were not an issue in the slightest, ever. On the commentary side, if anyone ever played Actua Soccer 1 (1994-5) on ps1, you'll know that Barry Davies' commentary was amazing.

FIFA have started to look better ever since Konami dropped the ball on the next gen, all the way through PS1 and PS2 Fifa received their regular October ass whupping, it was embarassing, not even a contest.
