To the first q, read the above post (by djBennyben, I believe). You now assaign the players to different traings so you do not have spend hours training them yourself (yeah!).
I'm not sure about the second one, but I believe I've read somwhere (maybe the official Playstation mag's review) that the computer teams change tactics according to opponent and whether they play at home or away.
I have had PES5 for a week now (full retail ver). NOt played much since last weekend due to work commitments.
Anyway, to add to the above.
1. Training is automated. Target sepecific areas to improve for each player nad the com does the rest. However, only one type of training can be assigned per week (simulated game turn). Also you now have to watch the fatigue meter, as overtraining can lead to inuries. Light/bad depends on the level of fatigue. So you need to schedule rest periods as well.
This style results in a slower development time overall, and for youngsters you also need to play them often to get the full effect. For older players, don't over-fatigue them in training, since they don't improve much during matches and if you've injured them by overtraining you've missed the window to arrest decline.
2. Yes, com teams do change tactics/formations based on who/where they play. Alo in-game, they change tactic if they're ahead or behind. Also realistically make subs, if they're behind they'll move forward more or take of defenders for forwards. I've yet to notice them bring on defender for forwards when they're ahead though; but that could be down to me trying desparately for an equalizer.
Cheers
