Kyle Walker has won the young PFA player of the year award.

I remember reading an article recently about bookies no longer taking bets on him after lots of high figure bets were placed on him winning it.

EDIT: And now RVP has won PFA player of the year! No surprise there really!

Kyle Walker over Aguero :lmao:

Team of the year:

Hart; Walker, Kompany, Coloccini, Baines; Silva, Yaya Toure, Parker, Bale; Rooney, van Persie

Being English is always an advantage when it comes to young player of the year.

Would've liked to have seen Koscielny in team of the year but Coloccini was the only other defender I would've had in with Kompany. Dempsey ahead of Bale for me.

I never pay much attention to these awards, they're always a farce, and I really disagree that players should decide who wins them.

Gareth Bale. Team of the year. Wha .... ?

If ever a performance in a match clouded a collective judgement it was the Inter Milan game at the San Siro.

Surely Bale would make a better winger/sided player than Dempsey?

Dempsey this season has played better as an attacking mid or striker than a wideman this season. Bale has had his ups and downs, but I'd choose him over Dempsey on the wing

Gareth Bale isn't playing on the wing. I've heard journalists questioning why Bale has been picked to play on the left wing and then drifted all over the pitch to little effect. Yesterday I saw it with my own eyes and heard Spurs fans grumbling about it to boot. Dempsey on the left side of midfield is as effective anywhere else across midfield or upfront, he's in his peak whereas Bale is struggling to live up to the hype. Being a wide player isn't only about pace.

Regardless of that, Bale shouldn't be on that list for this season.

Don't agree with that. He's been a lot better centrally this season, than he has when played on the wings.

Agree with the rest though.

I think some people would be surprised if they knew how many games he has played left side of midfield. He and Dembele have alternated positions. The majority of his goals have been from the left side where he makes late runs centrally, as Ljunbjerg and Pires did for Arsenal many moons ago. Flexible wide players are as valuable as out and out wingers.

Anyhow, he's scored valuable goals for the US playing left side of midfield so I think it proves he can play anywhere effectively.
