P. AUBAMEYANG is A BEAST. Played someone yesterday and he scored SIX in the FIRST HALF alone. :D

Eduardo (Ex-Arsenal)- He is quite cheap at about 2m (I think) and can play in quite a few positions.

For me though so far I have two outstanding buys and they are Forster (GK) and Averalo Rios (DMF/CM). They are both cheap and doing a great job for me so far.

I prefer Nordfelt to Forster (I think that's Ben Foster), but totally agree with Arevalo Rios. The guy is only rated 70/71 as DMF/CMF, but he has the Enforcer and Lunging Tackle cards and is a quality destroyer.

AUBAMEYANG is great. Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, he's sort of like a mini Neymar, complete with the haircut. He's only rated 68 in his registered position (CF), but on the wings it goes up to 76 I believe.

Not Ben Foster, but Forster. He plays for Celtic now and is English also. Are there any other players you would recommend at a reasonable price and are also versatile?

my favourites..

Gents, thanks for all the suggestions some very helpful ones in a very useful thread. Am sure you know the best 3 cheap and cheerful bargains that everyone gets at first- barretto, mphela and negli are still good in this version too.

Certainly agree with the post suggesting De Marco who can cover so many positions he's a must have substitute. My current faves are:

Kawalawali - CB £1.1 mill, big strong and at 83 top speed no slouch either, breaks up oposition attacks well

Yigit Gokoglan - RMF £2.6 mill (has accents over most of the vowels btw!) Bought when I saw his stats, 76 rating and he's a tricky winger for a snip

Aubey - CB £3 mill not quite so cheap but played against him and was impossible to get past, so I bought him! Pairs well with Kawalwali

Di Michele - SS £3.4 mill as suggested in a previous post but have to reiterate! 88 goals and 43 assists in 92 matches, strong stats all round

Happy hunting all!

Picked up ladovic and altfitana(sp), both very good pickups. I'm just starting out, desperately need a good cheap cb with some pace. Any suggestions?

Not sure how pacey they are, but I've been using Banana and Caulker and they've been solid for me.

Piquionne is quality and dirt cheap all in for under a mill! Also Cho Boo Rim is a quality cb I only bought him because I like his name! Ian Harte is a class LB and great at set pieces. Vitor Junior is a decent LM very cheap. Leandro Almeida is another good CB and a leader of men!

I have a couple decent bargains.
But 1 in particulair is the star of my team.

I have 3 strikers, but Mekky is the one im playing with most. There's about 70 owners of him, so no one really knows him. He is deadly in the box.

Other bargains are:
LALLANA -> Not very strong but easy to dribble with and a decent pass.
UCHEKU -> Quick dribbler, just over a million.
CORK -> You can place him everywhere in the defence and midfield.

Jonjo Shelvey. Think he's 70 but a great player, decent feet and tackling ability. Also sign Banana from senegal. 72 CB and great at judging play usually. Always there for a challenge.

ONE WORD OF ADVICE. DON'T SIGN GAEL KAKUTA OR CARLTON COLE. BOTH S**T
Disagree completely, Kakuta was my first signing, he was amazing for me as a small team. Cheap, great dribbler, fast, good passing, alot of creativity. The number 1 tip is to play him as a AMF not a Winger or a SMF, he is alot better is AMF.

he's ugly and not very good.

but he can shoot.

and he's really, very cheap.

he got me lots of vital goals at the start.

he was my first signing.

say hello to brighton & hove albion's (and occasionally scotland's)...

...craig mackail-smith!

I think too much emphasis is given to the "overall" stat. Is there any proof that by taking an AMF who is, say, 68 overall and playing him as a LMF or RMF where he has an overall rating of, say, 75, that it makes him a better player? Personally I have not seen this and I think a lot of people might be making bad signings because of this apparent "deal" to be had on players with "secret overall ratings." I'm not saying that this isn't a good thing to look for, but just question it is all I'm saying. There's more to a good player than just his over all stat.

For example... Personally, I have found that AMFs in PES 2013 are very effective. They get forward and make intelligent runs both out to the wings and through the centre like an extra striker, and so I've opted to use two of them and not use SMFs this year at all. My wing play doesn't seem to suffer at all because of this, and I've got too many players rushing into attacking positions for my opposition to handle it!

So, that's one reason why unlike a lot of people I'm not rushing to buy players just because their overall stat goes up when played as a SMF. The other thing, is that these AMFs I'm using have very low overall stats (60s) because we all know that the AMF position is very demanding and so a highly rated AMF has to have a lot of great attributes (unlike a RMF/LMF). So, my point is that these AMFs are great bargains regardless of their low overall stats. Just look at their individual abilities like passing, shooting, ball control, pace, dribbling, etc compared to these apparently great "overall" SMFs, who tend to just possess pace but less ability to pass, shoot, etc.

Some examples are:

Vendeler
Devic
Ludovic

All very cheap, with good teamwork, responsiveness (to get forward), ball control, passing, dribbling, etc.

Also, remember that the bottom line is that each position has stats which will affect the overall rating and others which won't. So, for example, high teamwork and high mentality are "free" stats. In other words, they don't affect the overall rating and therefore they don't affect the base price of the player. Likewise, a CB with a great free kick will not affect his overall rating, so those abilities are essentially "free" as well, unless enough people buy that player that his price goes up.

Just some food for thought...

PS - Has anyone noticed any players on the PS3 who have improved stats after the DLC/update? I want to try to take advantage of this, if possible, when the XBOX update is released tomorrow...

Larsen Toure, centre forward I think around 71 rating. He got me about 37 goals in 67 games. Not bad for a gamer who has a 35% win percentage in MLO thus far.

He is quick and somewhat strong... I have brought another forward before and then realised he was like 5ft 0 and no good at battling with players... Toure is the complete opposite and fairly strong. I actually made the mistake of selling Toure to buy Jelavic... I shall be reversing that decision shortly unless I can find another alternative.

As much as I hate abusing pace. It does have its place when you get clean through on goal.

I can also vouch for the need to have two AMFs and not SMFs/CMFs as the above poster says. Much more attacking options and realistically if you have a DMF covering then 5 defence minded players and 5 attack minded players. Seems a good balance to me.

^ I like Umut Bulut for that sort of stiker. Strong, well rounded and fast as a Bullet! Okay, not that fast, but all around pretty good for the price.

My two unknown and go to guys as subs of my 1st team strikers are Burak and Pukki. The first one is a vice-Cavani for me, cheap as hell, decent speed, but strong as an ox despite a "mediocre" stability stat (app 80+) compared to 1st class defenders. Decent finishing and heading too.

Pukki is a small, techinical player, whom for peanuts will bang you a dozen of goals.

As LB-RB, Inoha... Just humor me on this one... And my all time favorite... SIGEDIZ, shit player, but high defense, and very high speed, just use him to break up attacks.

Thanks Burak looks good. If you want another like him, check out Umut Bulut, as I mentioned above. They seem very similar.

Pukki looks decent too, but I use AMFs and he doesn't play that position so he wouldn't be much use to me.

Also, by the way, one of my favourites mentioned above, Ludovic, is suddenly no longer in the game. Not sure why, but he disappeared.

A couple others to add as well:

Nivaldo - CB - 79 overall. For some reason his price dropped drastically in the market and I bought him for approx half price. Not sure why this happens, but just saying that if you want an amazing deal on a player look at the graphs (painstakingly) for these massive price drops. Price was around 4 million and suddenly dropped to 1.7 million. Or am I missing something...? Maybe his stats were reduced, but either way for the price he was a great bargain.

Vellar - My other CB. One of the cheapest players you can get who has the "lunging tackle" special card. Good all around CB.

Sogrocan - GK - 91 mentality means that unlike a lot of other GKs he doesn't suffer from fatigue late in matches. Stamina is only 55, but mentality determines how a player responds to fatigue. High mentality means even when he is tired he plays relatively well.

Gedo - AMF but played as a CF has some very good skills for the price. Ignore his over all stat and look at what skills he has that are important, including adv stiker and super sub. He may be only 67 overall as a CF, but look at these stats:

responsiveness 86 (very important for a striker)
shot accuracy 85
jump 75
header 74 (not terrible in other words)
all his other stats are mediocre, but my point is that all around he doesn't have a huge weakness and is cheap like dirt. Decent attack, dribble, speed, technique, teamwork, passing. Not a starter necessarily, but very effective as a super sub or for games against weaker opponents when you want to start less expensive players.

Similarily, Salpingidis is cheap and all around a good player with super sub and adv striker to boot. Slightly better balance and heading acc than Gedo, but 7 form and also 86 for responsiveness (this really helps for strikers IMO).

I've often won or drawn games by bringing on this inexpensive duo of super subs late in the match.
