Players getting injured in the knockout stages of CL

I got this happening two seasons in a row so starting to think there's a dodgy pattern here...

1st season as I get past the group stage, a couple of important players get injured and I go out against Sevilla.

2nd season, I have 5 strikers in my team (CF and SS) and I get Real Madrid. One of my main strikers gets injured before the 1st leg and I manage to only lose 1-0 which leaves me optimistic.

But then I get 2 more strikers injured before the 2nd leg!!! Leaving me with basically 1 good one and 1 kid, so my hopes are pretty much gone (I play with 2 strikers)... On the 2nd leg I lose 4-2 (no surprise) and the kid gets injured too!!! So I'm now out of the CL and down to one exhausted striker for several weeks!

Anyone else getting anything like this? It would be hard enough to beat Real Madrid with all my players but it seems the game decides to make it pretty much impossible for whatever reason...

Not specifically. I get most of my injuries after derby matches where the opposition are throwing numerous aggressive tackles around for fun.

Interesting... I noticed when playing League mode I seemed to get big injuries at the beginning, and in ML as I said they seem to happen in the knockout stages of the CL... No derby connection that I've noticed, though I think I got one player injured after a derby match but not a problematic trend (this is all in superstar difficulty)...

BTW, the 2 strikers I lost before the 2nd leg... I hadn't even fielded them, they got injured in training! The game just decided to kick me out and that's that.

It's not problematic for me in the derby games either. I'm getting a realistic number of injuries so far. There's just a correlation between injuries and fouls, which you'd expect. It could be that your players are more fatigued when playing Champions League games, since they are playing twice a week. Perhaps the game takes note of fatigue levels for players when considering injuries. One glance at all the injuries in the Premiership right now hints that lots of matches in a short space of time increases the number of injuries. eg Liverpool limped off against Stoke last night with 3 new injuries.

It is happening again
I've had more players injured by Burnley and Utd than all the other teams combined. At least I have adequate cover!
