Players on loan, improvement?

Does player on loan become any better, or is it just like putting them on the bench for a year? I recently had three players go on loan.

Unfortunately not. I had one of my youth team go out on loan for about 3 years and they developed by maybe 2 points overall. If you want to improve them keep them in your squad, unless you need the money badly
