What's the official release date? I was eventually going to get a SEXBox 360 but the controller has funked my PES skills up!

Also any news on whether hooking it up online is easier than it was for the PS2?

Sony will have a serious panic on their hands trying to get the PS3 released by then. They've been experiencing problems with the power supply overheating (similar to the 360) and may need to have a large external power pack instead (like the 360 again). There was even rumours that the cell proccessor runs so hot that its proccessing power may be lowered. Of course this is all rumour from various forums i have checked out recently.

Aye, when I played PES5 on my mates Xbox, I just felt wierd and couldn't get use to the controls. And still gubbed him 7-1.

Anyway - PS3 is definitely what I will get, while my brother gets the Wii.

It's just that I've adapted to the black and white button. Now that they're triggers on the 360 controllers it's just thrown me!

There was a conference last year and Sony listed the services it plans for online:

The full list of planned services for the PlayStation Network Platform is as follows:

Communication/Community:
Account created through user registration
Lobbies/Matchmaking
Scores/Ranking
Game data upload/download
Presence/Friend List/Avatar
Voice/Video Chat
Messaging

Commerce
Shops (can be accessed from inside games)
Content Download
Game boot from HDD
Subscription
Selling item by item
Micropayment
Entitlement Management

Account
User Registration
Login ID/Handlename issue

Basically free online with friends list, voice and video chat, matchmaking, ranking and all that crap. They also want to setup download stores for music, movies and PS1/2 games, "microtransaction-like".

footballcool91, post the PS3 features. How can you have a thread about the PS3 without its main features? I'd like to know them.

Then why not put a heatsink fan of some sort on the cell processor, just like what they put on CPUs?

Go to http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/index.html it has lists of games and you can compare it to the XBOX 360, Gamespot is best for games, I read somewhere though that may change your opinion on the PS3. Unless you already have one if you dont it will cost you around £1,999 and thats not for the PS3 by the way thats for the HD television you need for the PS3!!! XBOX 360 is designed for HD tele but can work on any whereas the PS3 will only work on HD.

EDIT: My bad you need a 1080 HD television screen or normal TVs with a bigger output than TVs needed for PS2

http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/buyingguides/Playstation3vsXbox360.php check that for specs mate but im not sure if it is XBOX 360 or XBOX 360 core. and i am not 100% certain if PS3 will only work for HD television but i have checked out sites and they only seem to mention it working on HD 1080p and not saying what other screens it works on, i will ask my boss at Dixons if he has any info i can have, he ordered PS3 for january not november,

EDIT: forgot to add read the GPU on the site i sent you it tells you the screen required! :ninja:

Is it really HDTV only?

Think so, that aint good is it? Hope its gonna be 'compatible' with normal TV.

But you dont have to have a certain HD TV , but a HD 'READY' one. Vague, isnt it?:D

only doing my job and giving advise, xbox 360 console not core is good, there are many good games that come out that dont come out on ps3 whereas ps3 games will come on to xbox 360, controls take long to get use to but in the long run it will be a bit more expensive to buy xbox 360 and online hardware (router, wireless, gold membership [£39.99 a year]) which will cost around £350.99 with a game than it will to buy a PS3 but thats with out buying HD tele. in the long run go for XBOX 360 for reliability (not heating up) and the fact that you can put media player music and itunes on the 360 and even use as msn (rumour i dont believe but its interesting if true)

http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/buyingguides/Playstation3vsXbox360.php read both lists and at bottom it has accessories and sites to official companies, footballcool91 i checked your link but it was the main page? where abouts is your stuff?:tumble:

This is an "official PS3 thread", not some viral marketeering 360 vs PS3, just fuck off and let people look at official specs and information on PS3.

Also "footballcool91" those are old specs, Sony have got rid of the dual HDMI outputs. Go on the official site...

Link

And of course it can be played on a non-hd tv.

bad language from someone of your experience http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=68588 ps3 does work on normal tvs but can be used on hd, though what a waste of money if it cost £449.99!!! why buy that! this is not a Xbox 360 vs PS3 thread because the xbox 360 is better than the ps3 and that is not my opinion but common sense, better graphics at a cheaper price (with online fees and keyboards etc) do what you want but your just wasting your life buying something for that much so you can play PES because the controls feel better, tell me why?
