Got the game yesterday here in Australia, and I must say I've enjoyed it more than any other previous PES release. And there wasn't any settling in period; it was footballing heaven from the get-go.

The new animations are outstanding, in particular the shooting and passing ones. The European-style pace suits me perfectly. In recent times, I couldn't play PES4 more than 4 games in a row without it starting to feel like footballing pinball, whereas the fluitdity and realism of PES5 makes me want to play non-stop!

Gameplay-wise, shooting is definately improved. I've scored some absolute howitzers with Adriano. The loopy shots found in PES4 have been replaced by rising, scorching drives.

Passing feels more deliberate and controlled. You really have to work to retain the ball in midfield, but there's no end of satisfaction when you put together a string of 15+ passes and gradually pull the opposition out of shape before making the incisive move which results a stylish, replay-worthy goal. Long passing is now not just there for the sake of it; you can really change the flow of a match with a well-timed switch of play or raking diagonal ball.

Dribbling is more challenging than ever, and I feel this is a good thing. If you're the type of player that is obsessed with winning games using mainly individual skills, you probably won't enjoy PES5. I've found that is very possible to beat 2-3 men, but the reason I do it is only in the interest of opening up extra space to play a killer pass or switch play to the other wing.

The first touch and ball control system is superb - once you adapt to it. At first it seems your players control the ball like drunken elephants, but then you realise that with subtle manouevers of the pad/stick/R2, plus good timing, you can evade challenges with grace and style. I've found that as you perfect your first touch, midfields don't seems anywhere near as congested as they did at first.

Overall, I feel this is the best installment of the franchise yet, although I can totally understand where people's complaints are coming from. I think certain types of players will perfer this game, while others may prefer PES4/PES3, which is perfectly fine. But for me, this is as close to virtual footballing perfection as it gets.

I agree with the idea of the post, i'm starting to love the game in a obsessive way! At first it dissapoint you, you get frustated, it's hard to control the ball, to pass, to score... The fact is that you've to forget PES4, and it's prefect to me as i think PES4 is the worst game in the series.

Once you get the PES5 style you can't stop playing it, i'll need two pages to explain every little thing i'm liking on PES5, it's a dream come true for me as i like real football and not fast.crazy football as PES4 was.

I'm enjoying like a child, laughing gooooal every time i score, just like in the good times... ;)

And be able to beat them during 'Rain or Shine'

Make sure you don't become a system addict though.

Have to say I do agree with GazzaMartinez, forget how you play pes and remember how to play football and you'll go a long way with pes5. I think it's sublime.

tell you what got the game last saturday found it solid, and yea you have to slow down a little but i must be one of the few lucky ones i've managed to still be able to use abit of pro 4 in pro5 started my ml 3days ago default players signed owen and kick through ball to him and i'm off if you stick at it and realise whats going on around you you be sorted i'm gettin owen now running from half way line right frew em and this is on 5* but tell you what it is unpredictable my scores are like 2-0, 1-0. 1-1, 1-2, still losin a few winning a few during a few, but i've managed to master the running on the game which by looking at a few threads on here not many people have

I love the game but I have a slight problem.

I've grasped it on 4* and I've started tearing teams apart, although I really struggled at the beginning and got very annoyed.

I don't really want to move up in case I struggle again and get pissed off, but I don't want to rip teams apart on 4* cos I'll think it can get harder than this and it won't be that satisfying.

I feel the more stars you put on the more opportunitys arise for you and the com as they attack more on a higher star level which leaves them open as they come forward more i.e on 3 4 * they tend to pass about their own half and not really create much , but the more stars they tend to attack more which as i said leaves them open to your attacks;)
