Portuguese League Issue

The news that PES 2012 will have the Portuguese League have shocked me! I am Portuguese, so knowing that my league will be featured in my favorite football game is one the biggest and most marvelous surprises KONAMI could have given me and the whole Portuguese people.

My issue though is the following. Last year we had the Copa dos Libertadores teams making an entrance in the PES world. I was very excited and I looked forward to play with those teams.

The result was, that those teams have mostly no faces, the player's abilities are shockingly low, so it renders it almost impossible for me to enjoy playing the Santander Copa dos Libertadores.

My suggestion is that the Portuguese League should feature a decent bunch of faces and realistic skills. I hope that FC Porto, SL Benfica and SC Braga get their deserved respect. If players like Falcão, Alvaro Pereira, Guarín, Fernando, Witsel, Maxi Pereira, Jara, Gaitán, etc..., don't get a face, than its all for nothing. Of course one might argue that faces aren't very important. Well, when you see those players playing every weekend, its kind of difficult to see your big stars with awful build faces and outdated, strangely colored hairstyles.

I hope KONAMI takes some time to make the new league, an interesting one. Nonetheless, a BIG thank you for KONAMI for adding the Liga Portuguesa!:)

Well the teams you have mentioned are already in th game, faces arent all there but the players abilities are, Porto and whoever else will be in the champions league so they will have decent squads, the thing is the teams who finished 10-11th in the league are not as good as the teams who finished 10-11th in england so there stats wont be great, same goes for the top 4, braga and sporting are not as good as Arsenal and Man city so dont expect the players to be as good, porto are the exception i guess with Falcao and Hulk needing to be improved

I am not saying the teams are as good, but you look at the Santander Libertadores teams and they have stats that make it impossible to play with them. They don't run, they can't shoot, they have mostly between 50 and 70 in abilities.

Its obvious that the Premier League has very good teams ranking in 10th or even 17th. But as for the top teams, the English aren't that much better. Braga won against Liverpool in the Europa League, even though apparently Liverpool has a much better team. I guess things are much more complicated than they seem. Just yesterday Benfica smashed Arsenal, however if someone asked me who I thought would win (before match/hypothetically), I would say Arsenal for sure.

My problem is that things aren't just quite as simple and linear as they seem. A very good team with lots of star players can lose against a seemingly worst team. I mean, looking at the teams in the European League last year, who would have thought that Portugal would end up having three teams in the semi-finals?

I think that Technique, Pass, Dribble, etc. are very special abilities, that should only be high in the best players. Yet, why do other players have less speed and acceleration, team work or shot power? Most players are actually very close in speed and shot power for example.

I don't want to see Vitória de Setúbal better than Manchester City of course. I just want those teams to be "playable". The majority of the less known teams, feel like you are playing with elderlies!

I agree with these points you've made. We just have to wait and see with the stats. But I know we wil def be seeing a stonger Porto and Brage in 2012. I'm still getting over how Porto smashed my beloved Villarreal in the semi's. I'm hoping for some revenge in the CL!

This is something that I can't really explain to people, but I think faces are very important. I don't know if its just me, but its not the same thing, to play with a player with face or one with a build face. Most people just couldn't care less about that, but I really feel much more compelled to play with players that I know that look like themselves than build face players.

I do not expect all players to have faces, for that would be both impossible and a really stupid effort, but I expect KONAMI to start picking more important faces.

Do I like to see N'Kufo, Rigobert Song and I. Juric with a face? Yes, I do, but those faces aren't needed. Rigobert Song only plays for the Cameroon National Team, N'Kufo doesn't play for any team in the game anymore and I. Juric ended his football career the very same year they added his face.

My point is that KONAMI doesn't seem to understand a lot about football. They would rather make a face for Font or Yohanb Pelé than Wilshere or David Luiz. I do not complain about the faces they made, but they ought to start having better priorities.

Other thing is the fact that they do not have packs in the PES Shop with the players that have faces in the game disc, but are not in any of the game's team. It frustrated me a lot to see Van Nistelrooy going to Malaga and me doing a crappy build face, whilst knowing that somewhere in that Blu-Ray is the face and hairstyle for that player, however for some stupid reason I can't use them.

We have some pretty good face builders on this site tho so that can always be fixed. Lets see what we get in 2012 tho

I'm quite chuffed to see the Portuguese league added, about time another national league was put in place. A great addition to the Master League.

All I would say about stats, its taken a few years for Konami to recognize the ability of players in Ligue 1 so I think its fair to say we're looking to the future for realistic Portuguese stats.

Out of curiosity, has the Portuguese league replaced the Eredivisie?

No the Dutch are still in and yes Sminky you are right about Konami taking a while to get Ligue 1 right. It frustrated me how run of the mill OM was in 08,9 and 10.

I blame the lack of research performed by Konami. Andy Carroll has short hair as a default for the game, yes its hardly a big deal but his stats were pants as well. Its lazy.

Dont even get me started on that. He's a 71 and utterly useless to play with. I cant be Liverpool online as a result. Yet at the same time Joe Cole and Jovanovic are footballing gods.

Hi, I'm also portuguese and OF editor. Probably portuguese player stats wont be correct (like almost all the times), but with the editing community around I think it won't take much long to have a decent OF with all corrects stats, the teams with correct kits, emblems, and so on. ;)

I made the portuguese league from scratch last season.

badges, kits, stadiums and all the freggin' players. took me a while :)

I'm really happy about his new addition. And since even the unlicensed portuguese teams come with all the players it's going to take me a lot less time to do it.
