Glorified paper boys.

What they're striking over is embarassing.

Well said.

I heard one of them on the radio the other day, saying something along the lines of "We're striking because we want to be sure we're in a job this time next year..."

WELL FUCKING PULL YOUR FINGER OUT AND WORK THEN

royalmail. most will use standard royal mail postage as other couriers prices start no cheaper than £5.50.ive sent a couple of things with DHL but for something like a game it wouldnt be worth it.

special deliveries are prolly the way to go coz these get delivered through the strikes i believe?i havent worked there for a few weeks with the start of uni and all but i know the last strike the managers were still delivering specials but they are expensive and i dont think you can request to have it posted like that on play or anywhere

Despite Amazon "not being affected", they are as much as Play; free postage is delayed, paid postage isn't.

Amazon.co.uk said:
Express Delivery orders are unaffected, with guaranteed next-business-day delivery by 1pm for orders placed before the daily Express deadline. Amazon.co.uk have arranged to double available capacity to accommodate customers who choose this option.

First Class orders may experience minor delays, with delivery expected within 1-3 days from dispatch rather than the usual 1-2 days from dispatch.

Most Super Saver Delivery orders will be delayed. We currently expect most Super Saver Delivery orders to be delivered after the October 10th.

No delay is expected to International Priority Express orders. Most International Air Mail orders will be delivered within a normal timeframe, although a small number may experience short delays.

Haha, you bunch of lazy fucking wankers. Just go out and buy it on the day it comes out ffs.

Why don't you just buy it from the shop anyway you fucking bellend!? I hope everyone who bought them off Play doesn't get their copy until a week after release.....lazy pricks.

Are you fucking stupid? It's £10 cheaper on the net, I have things to do all day the day it comes out and won't be able to make it into town in time before the end of trading. Personally I hope you get run over on your way to the shop, yet to be quite honest the delay itself does not bother me. The reason for the delay is what bothers me, I've waited a year, a fucking week would hardly bother me.

It's also usually cheaper online though ;) PES 2008 for the PC is £17.99 on play.com, why pay over £10 more?

Well Mike in scouse logic paying £10 extra for the privilege of inconvenience makes perfect sense.

I'm a postie and there are talks of more strikes, most probably on Tuesday's for the foreseable future. The strikes are nolonger regarding the pay issue and are now about pensions among other things. Don't know if your aware but from this week postal workers are now starting work later, due to speed restrictions on postal vehicles.

well i was a postie part time before i went to uni and theyve kept me on for whatever days i can manage, sat ect. i started on £7.80ish or something,so for what it is it is good pay, thats suppose to rise to £8.50 sometime.having said that all i did was the walks,i think what there actually striking for isnt pay but the fact there vans can only go 56mph so that means later starts and theres suppose to be job cuts so strikes over job insecurities.doesnt really effect me like,im happy working through a strike tbh,its easy work easy money.

Sorry but if you don't like the changes being made find employment else where, a free market economy is useful in that way. Redundancies happen in all industries, what exactly is their problem with this? I am actually looking for the answer to this. It seems that Postal Workers are all too keen to strike, they get paid (surprisingly) well and have working hours that employees would struggle to find anywhere else. If changes are made to an industry, the employees should roll with the change unless it is truly a breach of their rights. I fail to see how later start times is a particularly high concern, what is the difference in working hours please?

As I say the underlying principle is that labour is free to switch to the most appealing employer, if you can't move to a job on the same wage then you should decide whether the higher wage is enough compensation for the added inconvenience. If it is not, then perhaps you should look elsewhere for employment.

YES The guy earlyer saying about Special Delv, it is true they will be continueing to send that service out, but wont garantee the compensation part of it or time, they aim to delvery it for the next day, but they cant garantee it, but it is true they will be doing the SP.

you keep saying YOU after quoting me. i said nothing about been bothered,in fact it doesnt even effect ME in the slightest, the few times i will be working for them id rather start later.Since im only PART TIME and ive moved from 25hrs to 1hr retaintment pay and then whatever i work when they ask and im available it doesnt effect ME and i never said anything about dislikeing the changes, pension, job security doesnt effect me.i dunno if that was directed at me or the general post force but you quoted me and kept saying "you" so il presume for now.

LOL @ BlueScouse, thats really scouse logic there. If you have the game delivered from the net getting it much cheaper and convieniently delivered you are STUPID and LAZY. As the above poster said that he hoped you get hit by a car, i hope you dont because then you will have your compensation claims on top of your giro.

The main thing the postal workers are striking for is the fact the Royal Mail is going to modernise and cut 20,000 or so jobs. Either they modernise or they go out of business and none of them have jobs?

Its unskilled work, they are getting paid well enough as it is, if they want to strike sack them. I'm sure there are plenty of people out of work that could do the job, if not just ship some more polish over. If the postal workers want to make threats then they should be able to deal with being on the other end of one.

As for PES2008 ill still keep my order on Play.com simply because im buying for the PC and the price is the cheapest, not too mithered about a night or two not having it, hell if i wanted to play it that badly ill just go round to a mates, hell ill probabaly be at a mates even if i do get it first day.

You could've made a sensible comment without being ignorant about people from Liverpool, that's well out of order.

Exactly, these pay conditions that are so 'inhumane' have hardly been publicly announced have they? Then if they were that poor postmen would probably have public backing, however they do a relatively unskilled job and should really expect a great deal more than minimum wage. Anything over £7/h is, I feel, unjustified.

I think it was said that they're on about 17k a week and nearer £9 an hour - I believe.

I've heard various things, but basically one of the key aspects was that usually even if a postie has a five hour shift, if they're done after 3, they go home. Now the Royal Mail want them to do the full shift they're throwing their toys out the pram.

Maybe Alf could tell us more, then again half of them don't even know what's going on!

Oh, and I've just read some of the replies in this thread.

Currently got tears streaming down my face. Got to love Liverpool bashing.

17K a week i hope thats a typo otherwise everybody would be trying to get jobs there.

you gotta remember some of these peeps/most have worked there for the best part of there life and are prolly too old to find other work now and now there jobs could dissapear. i guess thats what happens when you dont explore different avenues in life.

at the moment it is a really good pay scheme,i was doing 5hrs a day and as soon as i finished i just got in my car and went home, office wouldnt know wether i finished on 5hrs or 3hrs.and if i went over id simply put myself down for whatever overtime.i cant see how they can expect people to finish there walk and continue working till a designated time when there is no way whatsoever of knowing when somebody has finished a walk.
