i know it aint perfect.
There has not been one game that has ever been perfect, there never will be, but for you to say its not worth it at all is just stupid.

And DJ you cant say PES5 is just 4 but slowed down, if that was the case id still be playing the way i did in 4 but i cant, it is TOTALLY different, ive had to change everything about the way i play to get acustomed to 5.

Im not having ago at anyone, opinions are like arseholes, everyones got one.

PES5 is ruined by ridiculous fouls, dubious offside decisions and awful first touches.

g33k you gotta learn how to control the first touches.

hold R2 and he will trap and the ball and keep under control or if you wanna do a big touch into space hold R1 and the direction

i think that it is almost like pro 4 slowed down but im gonna give it a chance its gonna take some getting used to but what r the fouls all about players r going down even if u r running near them its ridiculous

everyone who's complaining about fouls just keep your fingers of the X button and square button!!! it's all about timing!!

just give it a chance, do some training mode and stuff, it will help really...

I feel, although the ref gives out more fouls than before, that he's not quite harsh enough. I hardly ever get even a yellow card (albeit i don't tackle that much in the first place) and neither does the computer. I've seen the computer get 1 or 2 yellow cards in 10 games. Hardly realistic.

The offside rulings are still too harsh. And somehow, it seems even more strict than in PES4.

Don't get me wrong, i think it's the best pes to date, but these small gripes still annoy me... It's a good thing that there are so many new things in the game that are so wonderful, it makes up for the few complaints. How cool is it, that players finaly get properly tired after playing to many games in a row. Finally, i'm forced to use those half arse subs, who in the old days were just taking up space :)

I love the PES series and i was a little disappointed with this one at first yes, beating players is alot harder if your player isn't a Ronaldinho or an Henry, its nigh on impossible to score off crosses from the byline, Visual aids such as crowd noise and the crowd themself seem to have disappeared from the last edition of PES.

But if you continue to play it you discover its little quirks, for each little let-down there is an improvement. I can't put it down at the moment and i For the last PES on Ps2 then its not bad, maybe it could have been better but its an improvement on the last one in my opinion, and we can't do anything about it can we ?? so why moan.

I'm looking forward even more to the PS3 release now and Pro evolution 6, which comes with it. When Konami can really test their ability and get to grips with the frightening potential of the PS3.

P.S i know you all seem to hate Fifa, but i buy both games every year, and i agree, Fifa has been rank and not even close to Pro evo since the very beginning, but i suggest you put your unwaivering allegiance to one side and purchase Fifa 06, you won't regret it, its a marked improvement on all previous others and for the month before PES5 came out i played Fifa and i really enjoyed it, of course i havent touched it since PES5 came out but i advise all of you to at least play Fifa 06 and see what you think.

PES 5 has its good points and bad points, like everything. The fouls are annoying and the first touches are somtimes bad meaning its hard to keep possesion. I think the placed shot (by holding R2 whilst the power bar goes up) is brilliant because it gives you more choice about what type of shot you want rather then just blasting it. I also think the movement is much more realistic, the kicking actions and stuff like that. Lastly i like the fact you can only really take people on with players that can in real life, for example in previous games you could skip past players with Gareth Southgate.

All the bad touches, stray passes, fouls and difficulties in goin past players may be annoying but it gave me what i wanted most when the new PES came out, and that is for it to be harder. On the last game i could thrash 6 star 6-0 and allsorts but now i have tough battles with 5 star which i prefer cos it is more pleasing when you score or when you win. I like a challange.

there is a lot of fouls in this version but just look at a real football match and you ll see that its how things are now. players are going to go down if someone is near them. it only took 5 minutes playing pes5 for me to realise that its the best iv played so far and by a long way too. headers are no longer a lottery as are free kicks. passing is more realistic and you cant pass through players anymore. basically its perfect.

It plays more like real football, PES4 feels kinda stupid now. The players in PES5 all have correct characteristics now, (i.e. can't dribble the ball in with a shitty player).

Players who have trouble adapting are thinking "what can I do with my controller" not "what can I do with a football at my feet". Stop trying to dribble and outrun the entire defense all the time? Maybe not enough use of long balls? It was the same case when adapting from pes3 to pes4, pes4 was much slower and at first most had trouble dribbling past defenders but now its piece of cake. In pes5 defenders like Real Madrid's are piece of cake, here's a lesson on counterattacking.

Barcelona (Me) vs Real Madrid (Com) on 5*

Set Counter Attack on. Give the ball to Ronaldinho, use :R2: to dribble and not :R1:, and keep the ball away form defenders, he'll hold the ball up well. If you need some space, stop the ball, wait for defender to get close, then hold :R2:+ direction to knock ball away and make space. Look for Eto'o on the radar, once he's about level with a defender, u can thread a thru ball but its better if u hold forward + :L1:+ :triangle:, don't let go of :triangle: it releases automatically at the right time.

Here's how to really counter attack. Real loves to be near your box, wait for them to make a bad pass or weak shot. Quickly throw the ball to Deco or Xavi. Ron, Giuly, and Eto'o will be in advanced positions. Watch for them on radar and once they're about level with defenders hold forward +:L1: + :triangle:, remember don't let go of either button. Ball flies over Real's short defenders, Ron and Eto'o are away and completely free. Ron, Giuly, and Eto'o are so fast they really do rip apart defenses if u do this. They should each have at least 2 1vs1 chances with the goalie per match. Hope that helps.

I dont make more than 4 - 8 fouls a match. I use my tackles intelligently. I do slide tackle as well and win the ball more often than not. I do player change to choose the right defender to get the ball from the opponent. So, I dont experience these 'ridiculous fouls' you're talking about.

Well, this happens in real football as well. Ask Drogba or Jose. I would even say that the referees should not be 100% perfect because the element of uncertainty and possible margin of human error would make the game more interesting and unpredictable.

I thought this game has the best first touches and I think I'm in a majority. Or may be I say this because, I've tried other soccer games in the market.

PES5 may not be perfect, but this is the BEST soccer game on earth now and it is thoroughly and absolutely enjoyable and fun.

have fun playing fifa.
don't forget when you header the ball don't expect to see your players head because the size on the ball will cover half of his body

I'm getting to grips more with PES5 and am starting to really enjoy it , my only issue with it being the lack of pace variation from player to player.

i must say with the first touches however, and i cant be the only person to notice this, you send a long ball at a player, full speed, and he'll bring it down easily, on his chest or with his boot, you give him a 5 yard pass, and he struggles to keep it with in a yard of him. that aint realistic at all. anyone whose played football knows its harder to control a 40yard lofted pass than a 5 yard lay off.

When receiving a short pass hit :R2: to control it well to set up your next move or :R1: to let it run a bit so you have space to do what you wanna' do. I think the touches are better because like in real life, you have to concentrate on bringing the ball down and where your first touch is going to put the ball.

No, the fouls I commit are quite fair. It seems any contact with a player is a foul, and I'm not even tackling from behind. I was playing my friend today and there were at least 40 fouls, the kind of tackles you see in real football and nothing too bad, it's stupidly easy to get a foul. I actually got a yellow card from a slide tackle when I got the ball, and then the player walked into me. Right.

Well, questionable offsides don't occur quite as much in real life, do they? I've had plenty of offsides where the player has both feet behind the offside line. Please, they could at least have some part of the player over the line when they give an offside.

The first touches are usually fine, you just get one or two where the ball seems to bounce off your players feet when just running along without R1 or R2. It's quite annoying.

The frequency of dead ball situations just ruins all the games I try to play, which seems to be at least once every 30 seconds. Not that I'm going to go back at Pro Evo 4, I'm just having difficulty forcing myself to enjoy this game.

Ha.. I am sure you guys will enjoy PES5 sooner or later, Last year, I heard a lot of guys (including me) complaining alot about PS4 and We9I on Soccergaming forum, especially about the keepers and the players' speed, they said that Konami had ruined the greatest game ever made, that they would stick with PES3/We7I. Two or three months laters, those exactly the same guys were trying to show his best goals in Pes4 master league and used everything they got to blast FIfa fans in FIfa V.S Pes/We forum. I mean You guys just need to relax a little bit, take your time to practice and those problems will be gone in no time, I am playing Pes5 demo, I also got alot of fouls at the beginning since I was playing it like We8I, but now, the number of fouls has descreased significantly and let me tell ya, you're damn lucky to have the full version of Pes5 in your hand (I have to wait 3 more months for We9I:( )Enjoy it, it's the best footbal game out there.:realmad:
