[PS2 & PSP] Winter '09 Update -- N. American PES 2008 OF

Contents:

- Substantial overhaul of rosters. Many players added to fill out squads and vast majority of January 2009 transfers completed.

- Player ages pushed forward a year, to bring them up to date.

- Lower-cased all player names.

- Names of clubs, players, stadiums, leagues, & cups -- all 100% correct.

- Fully edited national team kits (with emblem and manufacturer), including new Russia and Argentina kits.

- Full Bundesliga created in 'Other Leagues C.'

- 4 other clubs added:

* CSKA Moscow replaces Bayern Munich (moved to League C)
* Shakhtar Donetsk replaces HJK Helsinki
* Boca Juniors replaces PES United
* Zenit St. Petersburg replaces WE United

- All EPL (except Newcastle) and Bundesliga kits updated for 08-09. GKs included.

- Other kits updated for 08-09: Marseille, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, CSKA Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg, & Shakhtar Donetsk.

- Added promoted 08-09 clubs for EPL (Hull, Stoke, & WBA) and Bundesliga (M'gladbach, Hoffenheim, & Köln). Rest of leagues retain default PES 2008 clubs (for the most part, the relegated 08-09 teams in these leagues have been ignored in this update).

- Replaced/overwrote classic national teams with U-23 teams.

- No retired, classic, or duplicate players on file.

- Many stats and appearances edited.

- Boot slots tweaked, mostly to account for colors.

- All PES Shop items unlocked.

Notes:

- This option file is compatible ONLY with the NTSC version of PES2008; it won't work with NTSC-J or PAL versions.

- Big thanks to pategato & red-town. This file started from the beta of their PES 2008 file (http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=61372).

- Despite all the editing, rosters are a work in progress. Smaller and less famous clubs (e.g., Scandinavian, Dutch, & Eastern European) still could use more work.

- I'm a bit tired of editing at the moment, but if there's enthusiasm, I might continue tinkering with the file and release an update or two in the future. We'll see.

- Feedback, critiques, recommendations, etc. are welcome.

I'd be happy to offer a ps3 conversion, but I don't have the hardware to do so. If someone else makes the effort and posts it here, I'll update the first post with an appropriate link. Same thing goes for a psp conversion, which pategato hopefully will get around to when he has a chance.

PSP (forthcoming...when someone does a conversion)

Connoll3 ,

Thank you for taking your time on the option files. Hopefully someone will do the conversion to a PSP option file. Too bad you weren't able to add teams from the MLS, USL-1 or the Mexican League. With the Concacaf Champions league down to 8 teams it would've been nice adding those 8 teams at least.

when is the psp one going 2 come
Hopefully soon. I've PM'd pategato about it. I'm sure when he gets around to it, he'll post the conversion. Meantime, if somebody else with the capacity to do the conversion wants to post it, please be my guest.

I have no intention of adding CONCACAF teams to the file. My preference is to keep the file Eurocentric, since if you take it into ML you can reasonably emulate domestic and continental competitions (UEFA Cup & CL).

I know there are PES 6/WEPES 2007 option files floating around with MLS and USL-1 teams updated for 2008. The last Mexican league file for PES on PS2 that I've seen was updated as of 2007, although I might have missed a more recent version. I have the MLS/USL-1 file handy, so I can direct you to it if you're interested. Coincidentally, I'm working on updating the MLS teams on that file to get them up to date for the new season.

This version you speak of , is it a PSP version ? Everyone makes option files with Euro teams & leagues but wouldn't it be better to add a few team from this side of the continent under Independent teams ? With the leagues of this continent just starting again it would add to the extension of the playablilty of PES 2008 . Just an idea..

Pategato,

Thanks for everything .. You have been more than helpful. Are you working on the option file for the PSP version of PES 2009? Is there a big difference between PES 2008 & 2009 worth purchasing the 2009 one.

I own PES2009 for PS3 only.
For what I've read, PES2009 is inferior to PES2008 on PSP, so PES2009 is not worth getting if you own PES2008.
