What Player ID gave the error? I know I discovered last week by helping someone on Evoweb that the first 23 66000 Players ID range no longer worked. I tested 70000 and above and worked. Also test with first 23 on range of 68000 and worked. Not sure how many ranges below 68000 and 66000 doesn't no longer work as didn't test them.

Last week I installed complete OF with the Hong Kong game that had all players Live Updated using Player ID Range from 23000 - 27546 and had no issues within that range I used.
Do we know why certain ID numbers no longer work? Is it because Konami have since added their own players which use those numbers?

At first I thought it could be that, but I seriously doubt it since I I couldn't find those IDs on PESMaster database, and they usually have everything.
Also, unless they had real faces or something blocking their editing, it wouldn't really be an issue, what would happen it's just that those players would be replaced instead of new ones being added. If it was that, it wouldn't give an error importing, unless they specifically block those or something.

Ooof! I see... maybe the two issues are connected? Like, all these players being marked by as "live update" causes them to have new IDs in the ranges that were previously available? I wonder if IDs on pesmaster reflect the new bug. If so, that could be a way to check ID availability before trying to import.

If I remember correctly, previously, when importing player with the same ID as one that's in the game already, it would just overwrite that player if he is unlicensed and do nothing if he is licensed, right? So that error message is indeed something new. I figure maybe they did something to fix that master league situation and it required messing up the whole ID system... idk.

In any case, I have some files with players from previous PES with their original IDs (thanks to Buckshot ;)), I can share it if somebody wants to try importing them to see if it works. I already have them in my game and I don't want to mess with it myself just in case things go wrong. Also, I still have all the free agents and whatever other players from PES 2019 I was able to restore, so I can share a .ted file with them. Just let me know which ones.

The first 23 players in the range of 67000 worked.
I will use the TEDITOR tool by SMcCutcheon. In my first attempt with Excel MS 2010, it gave me a RunTime error when i tried to save the edit. Is this correct, after i do all my edits i must press SAVE.TED file in the first menu right? Like in the image below?

Furthermore it seems my Excel's fault is it is 2010 version, so now i download from my University page MS OFffice 365, which is free for us who have still our university accounts! Will the OFFICE 365 work?

Just to clarify, I successfully decrypted and checked PES united and the tools reads correct as there where fake players with the Live Update flag ticked. Checking from PS4 in the same time, I saw it reads correct the bug. If I can save the cnanges and import it back, it can be solved, a lot of work though.

Also they must for sure changed messed IDs, cause if you check in a post here @Buckshot gave for Ansu Fati and ID 650.000 something. Or i am wrong here?


Checking now in pesmaster, Ansu Fati has ID 133215


Finally if this is the solution, it seems it is a lot of work, you have to import all TEds of game and go check the players one-by-one. They must be more than 15.000 players infected by Live Update bug. Maybe even more. PES 2022 will be around until the time we will finish!! :p Plus although PES 2020 has more editing possibilities than 2019, it is still a bad game , to give it som much time and effort.

I know you probably figured it out by know, but I use Office 365 (thanks to my university as well :p) and it works. I think Office 365 is the latest version.

Good that you are now able to fix it by yourself in case you want to edit a team properly, but yes, that is a lot of work.

The good news is as you said, MS365 works.
The bad news is, although i did all the process correct, without receive any error after i imported back to game, the LiveUpdate Label still exist. Although in DETeditor shows that the LU flag is unticked, in the game it does not have any effect. So it relies in KONAMIs side to fix anything.

Here are my TEDs if anyone wants to decrypt and examine if i did it correct. *EXAMINE by tool, DO NOT IMPORT IN GAME!

That is really weird, but you're not alone. When I was recovering players for my project, I had one single player that had that problem as well. I removed the live update tag, but when I imported to the game the live update tag was still there, even though in the tool it's not. (the player was this one if anyone is interested on trying it: https://www.pesmaster.com/leonardo/pes-2020/player/132904/)

At this point, I'm starting to question if Konami changed something with the way the live update label works to fix those Master League crashes and perhaps now the excel editor is not updated to deal with it.

Or if I Digital install a fresh game without removed free agents and them inject the vanilla files, it will notice me that the edit data is from older DataPack aka incompatible and it will automatically delete the vanilla file and create again a fresh one without "removed" free agents?

Grabbing the EDIT and SYSTEM from dics version method will only work if you have the EDIT at a certain point before the Live Update was introduced.



Example 1 - I installed Hong Kong disc version back in June on one of my PS4s. I went through and created the EDIT DATA and Live Updated to get Free Agents and never touched it due to other projects. I installed the Hong Kong disc version on a different PS4 and after the Live Update Bug, all players were Live Updated.........I was able install the EDIT and SYSTEM from non effected version to the effected version and was back to normal.


Example 2 - I took UK disc version and installed on one my son's PS4 and went through Live Update and all players were Live Updated so wasn't able to use the EDIT and SYSTEM to transfer to UK Digital version as the same Bug was there. IF YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT FREE AGENTS, THEN WILL WORK.

So basically, unless you have that EDIT file before the Live Update Bug -- you're up shits creek.

So where I screwed up was not turning off the internet to the PS4. Dumbass moment forgetting about turning off internet.

I did the following. Digital version. Uninstall the game completely. System and edition data disappeared. The game is updated, BUT I do not apply live update.

Install the option file, where I included the Free Agents that Junior Mantis recovered. And based on the edit ted program of SMcCutcheon I am recovering free players with real face of the game like this.

With this method I will look for as many players with real face that I still lack I did not know if by not applying live update before installing option file, I am missing something, but I prefer it to having to put up with the error of the live update message.

I joined in a little while back as I’ve found the method in the OP no longer works for me. I was using it for ages but since DP8 I can’t bring back missing players by changing IDs and I can’t import teams that contain any players that have been brought back this way. I get an error message. Think it’s same for others but not totally sure. So any free agents you want back you will need to find someone who can share a ted with the player exported directly from the game.

I haven’t tested but I think you can still add new players (that you created yourself) by using unused ID numbers. Someone else would need to confirm though.

The other big problem is the ‘live update bug’. Basically if you add the latest live update almost every player in the game gets the live update flag, so you can’t reset them.

Unclear if all this is deliberate (something to do with 2021 season update) or Konami making a mess of things again.
After @Buckshot workaround on Pleasure Horn/Tunis. Have you thought to use the reverse engineering on your method? I mean the players that the game does not allow you to reimport, to first flag them as live updated and the import them..?
Just crazy theory..

So to keep it simple:
I have a bugged version 1.08.01 & 8.00 DP. All I need is find an EDIT file from someone/somewhere, that is 1.08.01 & 8.00 version but not bugged and paste it in my PES2020 inventory, or delete my edit file and paste the clear edit then, correct?
And last question, since I do not plan to apply any LIVE Update that is the cause of the bug, what's the purpose of switched-off internet?
I mean the LIVE UPDATE is a process that must be done manually by the user. If me (the user) doesn't Apply the LU, what's the danger of the ON internet connection?
