This is how I feel about it too. If it turns out Konami have tried to cynically force players into a paid update by breaking the edit mode, I would stop buying PES.
It would be a kick in the teeth to the community who have supported the game. Without editors the franchise would’ve died a long time ago, as players bought it knowing the community would make option files for them to cover the missing licences. Without that, most would just buy FIFA instead.
And the worse thing is that it wouldn't be the first act of disrespect by Konami. Just take for instance PES 2019, when they removed Italia and Spain 2nd leagues. They are really important for many people. Italia and Spain are some of the top leagues in the world and the Master League wouldn't be the same without 2nd divisions. Yet, they removed them and all the Kitmakers basically wasted their time doing the kits for them. They could at least warn them. Also, there was the whole situation where they got Thai League but then it wasn't avaiable in most game modes. So disrespectful to the Thai PES Community in my opinion. I love PES, the gameplay (has its flaws but let's be honest, it's quite good as a whole and has improved a lot during the years, at least in my opinion), the community and to be able to create any team or league I want and play a Master League. But situations like those sometimes make me not want to buy the game anymore.
What Player ID gave the error? I know I discovered last week by helping someone on Evoweb that the first 23 66000 Players ID range no longer worked. I tested 70000 and above and worked. Also test with first 23 on range of 68000 and worked. Not sure how many ranges below 68000 and 66000 doesn't no longer work as didn't test them.
Last week I installed complete OF with the Hong Kong game that had all players Live Updated using Player ID Range from 23000 - 27546 and had no issues within that range I used.
Weird. The ranges I was using were some ranges withing the 24000-something, I was checking my notes and one of the ID ranges I have written down was 24680-24699, but there were others (somewhere in the 24300-? and 24550-?, but I don't remember exactly, I didn't write down everything
)
Was the OF an old one, before all this mess? The ted I used files were "new" (although I don't have the live update bug), I had exported them just to do this, perhaps that explains it?
