R3 team mate controls stopped working (PS3)

Hi all,

First post.

For some reason the R3 team mate controls have stopped working on my game. I have been doing it absolutely fine up to now. I have played 10 games today and everything worked fine. Now I've just started a new game and they won't work.

When I click R3 + R3 direction the player with the ball does some stupid feints or keep ups instead of making the player off the ball make a forward run.

I have tried turning it PS3 on and off and I've also tried it in training mode and still it won't make my players run off the ball.

I haven't altered any controller settings so I cannot for the life of me think why it's doing this... unless my R3 button is broken / damaged?

Has anyone else had a similar problem and do you know how to sort it?

someone wrote about this the other day and I think we all thought they were just crazy. Maybe the latest version messed it up. i haven't played pes since before that release.

PES controls drive me insane. Such poor response, no fluid transitions.

The thing is I haven't knowingly installed an update, certainly not today anyway. It was working fine an hour ago and now nothing happens when I press it down.

Really annoying! I rely on R3 massively.

We all have thr problem and I hate those step overs so much and it pisses me off to a point where I break the controller. Live with it for now mate, nothing you can do.

OK but how do I make them run even occasionally? I wouldn't mind so much if every now and then it didn't work but for some reason it isn't working at all now. And yet an hour ago it was fine!

Maybe I've knacked the controller from too much use? Doubt it tho!

did you check your "off the ball" setting in your profile and make sure some glitched change didn't happen there; you may have not changed it but it could have.

more than coincidence someone else complained about the same exact topic just this week or last.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look into it. I've turned it off for now because my PS3 was about to take a journey through the window

I had see the other guys post when I did a google search. That's why I registered for this site, to see if his issue had been solved.

If it gets sorted I'll post again so someone else can find the answer.

yup. that was my post...EXACT same deal is happening to me!

weird thing is, i went out of town and i played at a friend's place, R3 worked perfectly there for a while...then later, EXACTLY the same control schemes, boom, i start getting same issue

ive found that it works a lot more when i let go of everything and just use R3, but this disrupts my player when im running, plus i do tend to use the 1-2 pass so my original player runs after i do the pass...which wreaks havoc on my passer cause he does stupid feints >.<

ive changed all settings to match what i had at my friend's house, as well as changing the set feints so they wont interfere as much and trying some suggestions from the guys here in the forum, but same deal happens

i have the latest patch installed, not sure if that has something to do with it, hadnt considered it since i havent played as much as i would like to cause i been spending hours on Edit Mode

beyond frustrating, i do think the R3 is a wonderful addition, but now it tends to leave me hanging ...would love it if someone can offer a solution!

Mine seems to be working again now. After a few very frustrating hours of silly feints instead of runners it has started working again. I did not change any settings.

My mate took the control from me and in training mode stood still with a player and just continuously pressed R3 down and eventually someone made a run off the ball. Since then it's worked fine (1 game so far).

It makes me think it's an issue with my controller. Maybe the R3 button is a little knackered. But I tried it on Call of Duty to test and it was fine.

It is very confusing / annoying and I've smoked far too much as a result

Praying it lasts through the night cos I'm playing a tournament.

I wish I had a more 'technical' solution aside from bashing R3 down because I don't think that's a long term solution!

Yeah the R3 thing is wonky for me too. Sometimes it works, sometimes they are highlighted with the blue bar but can't be directed and sometimes nothing happens. Luckily if you "focus" the ball at a player they seem to recognize and make a run somewhere.

One other thing that works spotty is the O/D L2 plus d-pad up or down feature.

Sometimes it works with the meter popping up and I can knock it up or down, sometimes the meter appears and I can't make it move and often it doesnt appear at all.

I thought at first I had to be in possession of the ball but that doesnt seem to make it better.

Ok now the L2 left right strategy thing won't pop up.

I like this game a lot though. Just wish this wasn't happening.

I've played well over 100 games online and i swear to god i've never seen anyone use the manual off the ball movement. It's beautiful when you make the perfect run online , not easy though. I use it mainly to spread out my fullbacks. Working on the pc version.
