That was probably the game I've enjoyed the most this season, and none of it from Madrid.

Sociedad were a joy to watch. Wasteful in front of goal, but played some lovely football at times. Shame they'll probably miss out on a CL spot.
Agreed, they played really well and showed great character to come back from behind twice.....

Transfer rumours Ins: Isco might not sign because of fears that he may not get enough playing time and is waiting to see who becomes the new coach before deciding what he is to do.....Gareth Bale(60m) and Ilkay Gundogen(20-25m) are the favourites to be our first summer signings followed by Cavani(35m) and Carvajal(7m).....that will probably be it in terms of transfers and depending on if them players are available or not then it could change although Carvajal can return for 7m because of the clause in his contract, if we do not bring him back then its just madness.....

Transfer rumours Outs: Coentrao will probably be out the door soon, Monaco are said to have offered in the region of 18m....id take it....Also off to Monaco is Carvalho free transfer, those also rumoured to be on the way out are Sami Khedira who Mou wants to bring with him to Chelsea, Pepe could also be shown the door because of his behaviour in recent times, Angel Di Maria is wanted by PSG, if we signed Bale then I would have no qualms with this and there are players who have come through the Castilla this season that alot of clubs in Spain and across Europe are interested in, Albiol said he is happy in Madrid, id keep him as back up to Varane and Ramos, Essian will return to Chelsea.

This is the current squad list and who I think we should sell/keep and my reasons why.

Casillas - No brainer, back in as number 1.
D. Lopez - Id keep him but he is a great keeper and would be wasted on the bench.

Arbeloa - I hate him but id keep him as back up to Marcelo and whoever our RB is.
Varane - Stays - Himself and Ramos will only get better.
Ramos - Stays - Same as above.
Marcelo - Stays - cant wait to have him back fit.
Coentrao - Gone - I dont know if it was him or Mou's tactics but he isnt the same player he is for Portugal and his defending isnt that good.
Pepe - Gone - He is crazy and too prone to getting sent off, can be great at times though and id wish him well.
Albiol - Stays - Back up to Ramos and Varane.
Carvalho - Gone - I think its almost a done deal to Monaco.

Alonso - Stays - he didnt have his best season but who did this year for Madrid.
Khedira - Gone - I like him and he does good work in the middle when we dont have the ball but for me he is too slow and id prefer Modric who has more energy and can also make things happen when in possesion.
Modric - Stays - see above.
Essian - Gone - Back to Chelsea
Ozil - Stays - played great at times but has been restricted by the tactics at times IMO.
Kaka - Stays/Gone - If Anchelotti takes over and wants him then id keep him, if he doesnt take over then I think its best he goes.
Di Maria - Stays/Goes - Depends on if we sign Bale.
Callejon - Stays - Good squad player and I think he could contribute alot over the course of a season.

Benzema - Stays - I think he will stay but wont be first choice.
Ronaldo - Stays
Higiuan - Gone - id keep him over Benzema as he had a better season, none of them have been great though and I think the fact that Benzema contributes more to the team whereas Higuian is a typical no. 9.

My team for 2013/14 season with current/possible squad

GK - Casillas
RB - Carvajal
LB - Marcelo
CB - Ramos
CB - Varane
MF - Alonso
MF - Modric
MF - Ozil
RW - Bale
LW -Ronaldo
CF - Cavani

Leaving Lopez as Casillas cover, Arbeloa as cover for the RB/LB, Albiol as cover CB, Khedira could cover Alonso as the holding MF or Gundogan if signed(who I really admire alot, id play him ahead of Alonso, great passer with pace and great energy, himself/Modric and Ozil in the middle would be alot better and quicker than Alonso and Khedira) Callejon/Di Maria could cover Ronaldo/Bale on the wings and Benzema would be great cover for Cavani if signed. I dont even think its that much of a change in terms of players I think its a change of formation and attitude that the team needs, I dont want/like us to be a counter attacking team I want us to be an attacking team with a good defense and balanced, structured but free(if you get my drift).

Thats enough for tonight. If I forgot anyone dont forget to let me know....

That midfield is going to be penetrated easily.
Not if we can keep the ball for any sustained period of time. Khedira for all his good work off the ball isnt effective when we do have the ball, he doesnt beat many players or score many goals and he also doesnt assist that often, his passing range is limited and he has no pace, if I had to choose between himself and Alonso then id choose Alonso all day long, if Gundogan was in there then id choose him, our tactics are going to change, thats for sure no matter who takes over, im sure that our days of playing 6 at the back are over.

Yes Joel is correct.You have one Normal Cm and an Offensive minded CM...Better keep khedira and rotate between Modric and Alonso or figure out something because Modric should not be plying on the wing and you cannot play Luka and Xabi together.

You should be keeping DI Mari,Ozil and have some backup to these wingers.

Hopefully if Ancelotti comes he can atlast get Kaka playing providing you an additional dimension and another top top class player besides Ronaldo.

35m for Cavani is good,I do not think Bale is moving this season he just signed a 130k a week contract but if you want to blow 60m who knows.

Hope you get back to playing great footy along with Kaka and challenge Barcelona for honors in Spain.

But if you play a formation of 4-3-3.... Lots of changes...will be needed.

Jose Mourinho's preferred number one, Diego Lopez, is injured today. So finally a recall for Iker Casillas, one of the world's great goalkeepers?

Nope, 24-year-old Jesus Fernandez Collado makes his first start for the club. Antonio Adan Garrido, the fourth choice before the Casillas fall-out, is on the bench.

:lol:

Why was Vincete Del Bosque sacked after four years in charge of Real Madrid during the 1st Galacticos era where he was not allowed any major input in transfers and won 2 La Liga titles and 2 Champions League titles while avoiding any kind of bust-ups of egos in the star studded squad,far more than the current one...?

A moment of Roman Abrohomovich madness?

Just to recap on a few things here, after watching Cavani now alot more I hope we dont sign him, Higuian is IMO better and we are selling him for about 25m euro whereas Napoli want about 50 for Cavani....madness if we pay it, then you have Bale who is a great player BUT 80+ million is abit too steep.
We have signed 2 players so far, Carvajal has returned from Leverkusen(not looking for correct spelling) where he was sold last season and got into the German team of the year and also stared for Spain in the U21 championships and Casemeiro from Sao Paulo for 5.4m euro, big strong box to box midfielder.
Also moved from the Castilla to the first team are Moratta who had a very good end of season at Madrid and then shone for the Spanish U21's last week winning the golden boot, Nacho who again was playing for the spanish U21's and plays LB and Jesse who is currently on international duty with the Spanish U20's scoring 2 goals in his first game and was top scorer last season with the Castilla and has been likened to the C. Ronaldo.
The Isco deal done according to all reports in Spain and he will be announced as our first signing under Anchelotti once he takes the reigns or early next week and we are well advanced in our talks for Gundogan, we had earlier agreed a deal on first refusal for next season as Dortmund didnt want to lose Gotze/Lowendoski and Gundogan in the same summer but now with Lewindowski insisting he will stay if not transfered to Bayern Munich the deal for Gundogan could be back on as they will be keeping Dowski, it will be interesting to see who Anchelotti will line the team up and what formation/style of play he plays....id like to hear Sweeys few on this.

So here is my new/reformed/preferred team for next season.

GK = Casillas/Lopez
RB = Carvajal/Arbeloa
LB = Marcelo/Nacho
CB = Ramos/Pepe
CB = Varane/Albiol
MF = Alonso/Modric
MF = Gundogan/Casemeiro
AMF = Isco/Ozil
LMF = C. Ronaldo/Jesse
RMF = Balel/Callejon
CF = Benzema/Morata

There are alot of players who I would get rid of, Coentroa, Pepe or Albiol(Pepe would have a higher market value and Albiol is Spanish so id keep Albiol)Khedira, I think we could get a pretty decent price for him also, good player but very limited, Kaka, goes without saying really, never shone for us and in need of a move, Di Maria, the Noodle is a very good little player and explosive, I like him and he can be very good, the problem is that he can also be very bad and his touch can kill him at times, works very hard for the team and can be a match winner but I just think that there is better out there(Bale/Neymar) and if we could get Bale then he would be better off leaving as he is too good for the bench and is a confidence player.

BTW, thats one young ass team we would have and we have also been linked with other young Spanish players. I would be over the moon with that team/squad going into next season and would be for once in a long long time excited by it.

As I said it would be nice to hear Sweeys take on what formation/tactics he thinks Anchelotti would roll with.

Higuain is not better than Cavani. After seeing more of him = Affer watching him in the last 2 games in the Confederations Cup.

Yes, he has contributed nothing in the confed cup, and Napoli want 50
odd million for him but its not just that, have you watched him play much? Do you think he is worth 50+ cause I think its madness, yes he is a very good finisher but I personally think that his touch isnt the best, his dribbling isnt the best and his workrate isnt the best, being a great striker you need to be ticking all the boxes mate not just scoring goals plus alot of his goals came from free kicks and penalties, do you think he will be taking them at Madrid if we signed him because I know he wont, he also plays every match for Napoli whereas Higuian was only bit part and rotated alot with Benzema yet still scored 20+ goals a season, I dont want to get into it too much but tbh I just dont want Madrid to sign him as I believe that it will be money wasted.

Anyway, I have to take a call, Bale is on the other line. :laugh:

You clearly haven't watched him for Napoli. I don't think he is worth £53m, but no one goes for what they are worth anymore. When there is a limited amount of world class strikers around, you're going to have to overspend. If you don't want him because of the price, then fair enough, as I rather Chelsea not spend that much money on a player again. But don't give me Higuain is better.

Cavani is much more complete than Higuain. Better in the air, better dribbler, better first touch and just as clinical. He also needs a lot less service that Higuain requires. Also, he's scored like one free kick, so I don't know where you get a lot of his goals have come from that. There's a reason Cavani is linked to Madrid, City and Chelsea and Higuain is linked to leaving a club of that calibre.

This isn't a slight on Higuain, as he is a very good striker and will get a club goals. He's just not better than Cavani.

I just dont think we need him and especially for that amount of money, we will still have Benzema if Higuain goes and Morata who looked more than capable at the end of last season and impressed again for Spain in the U21's, id start the season with them 2 as our main strikers and use the Cavani money to get Bale, Morata deserves a chance, if he was with any other team then we would probably pay 20 to 30 million for him given that he is also Spanish......

^ And that's fair enough. I have no problem with that. I just chose to push my big mouth in this thread as you were trying to rate Cavani from two games in a Confederation Cup.

Don't see you getting Bale this summer though.

I think we will get him alright, Spurs are all talk, throw enough money in front of them and they will break....

30 million for Morata? What?
Put it into context Jonny. What im saying is if he wasnt with us and him being Spanish and us needing a striker with Higuian going we would probably try and sign him for 20m - 30m depending on who he was playing with and scoring goals last season.
People always go on about Madrid not bringing through enough players, well here is one that we can give a chance to, he has proved that he can score goals and proved that he can play and play well with the Senior team at Madrid, id definatly have him as back up to our main striker next season whether its Benzema or someone else, if we keep him and he is only 3rd choice then we will never see him play, id rather loan him out if he was 3rd choice as he would gain more experience elsewhere and maybe prove his worth before coming back.

I have to disagree with that. Levy is one of the toughest negotiators in the league. Unless Bale publically and privately makes it known he wants out (like Modric) I don't see him going anywhere, no matter what the fee. I still say next year is more likely.
