Renewing Contracts

I have played 1 season, got promoted to Serie A, played a few more games then I had my main forward just leave my club?! Didnt know his contract was up and it didnt give me an option to renew it he was a youth team player
Does anyone know how the renewing of contracts work?
You pay the full salary for the term and the budget doesnt have an annual allocation and doesnt pay automatically?

I did a few of my players manually at the start of my second season because as you said their was no indication of players contract being up which i found strange. Most of my players had a year to go so i just started negotiations myself with these players.

Really! :shocking: If thats the case and you get no warning or reminder then thats a massive issue you have to keep on top of as a manager. I'll be looking at all my squads contracts tonight thats for sure!

Yeah certainly no warning from what i seen, i can only assume they have done that on purpose to give you the feeling of more control, but as you say if you forget that your 90 rated top striker is out of contract and he leaves for nothing i think you would feel anything but in control. :no::no:

P.S. what does the secretary do this year? if they don't warn you about player contracts should we just fire them!

My 16 yo SS rated 77 with protege role, dummy runner and 9 skills left my club after i brought him up through my youth team. Rip Lobato
I have to wait to mid season to try and sign him up again but i have no salary left until the new year, he will surely be snapped up

Yeah that is annoying i suspect you wont be the only one caught out by the new system its silly not have some kind of warning. And yes Lobato will probably end up at the Nou Camp and forget you ever existed the fickle nature of footballers

But you do get a warning. It told me at the start of the season in a text notification. And the players also had green upward pointing arrows in the Negotiations section, with the red dot over that section to indicate that some new information was available.

I have three that need sorting before the end of the season.

Yeah the game doesn't remind you. I'm playing my first season and signed Lobato during the January transfer window. And his contract also ends in August that year. So had to extend the contract.

Ah, OK I see what you mean. I didn't realise it was a mid season buy. I've just passed the same January transfer window signing the same player (had to sell lots of players to get enough budget together). Does it not have the green up arrow from the day you signed him? I haven't checked yet.

It looks like we have to make sure we've sorted contracts out before agreeing any transfers each window now. Thanks for the heads up. If the green arrow isn't there then that's a bug.

The green arrow is there on any player when they join your team.
I guess i was expecting some form of pop up or notification as there has been in previous years.
I lost Lobato as he signed to another team then wanted 45mil to transfer back when his market value was only 13m.
So signed some other young guns

I checked and indeed the green arrow does not appear when you promote them to the first team. For me this is a straight forward bug in the game. Because of what had happened to you, I knew to go in and renew his contract. The first time I tried he said no and guess what ... the green arrow appeared. Oops Konami!

Now I know to renew all contracts asap! Got all my contracts renewed for like 3 years. Especially since my whole team is younger than 21 years old and all have very bright futures ahead of them!
